My mam is well treated by all staff. They understand and apply care with dignity and respect at all times. Recently, my mam was poorly, and the staff provided additional support, including assisted feeding, which helped to build her back up.
My mam enjoys the company of other people and being involved.
There is always activities and good fun in the communal areas.
Special mention for the food, which is excellent. It is nutritious, diverse and well prepared and presented.

Highfield is the fourth care home Mum has stayed in the last five years. It is the home I was most comfortable with, as I really believed she was loved and cared for properly. Thank you from myself and my brother for how well she was looked after in the last eighteen months of her life. It gave us great
comfort.

I found the care in the home to be satisfactory, the staff mostly very obliging and courteous. The catering was good quality mainly home type cooking. My main complaint was with the NHS not the care home itself, I was told by the hospital I would get daily physiotherapy this did not happen which in
turn prolonged my stay.
One must be bear in mind that this home was mainly for dementia patients and from what I observed the care assistants did an excellent job in very difficult and tedious circumstances, a credit to your company .

Think all the staff members are really nice and good at their jobs, some go the extra mile, and I know my mam is in good hands. Mam really likes her food, and the food is excellent, lots of tea and biscuits throughout the day. The staff are very respectful to mam and treat her very well with warm, friendly
hello's and cuddles.

Both of my parents have been cared for by the team at Highfield House, My mother has been a resident for 7 years and my father was there for a few months before settling into a nursing home. Each person who cares for my mother has a compassion and consideration for her needs that make it easy for us
as a family to rest knowing she is in a loving and safe place. The management team are always helpful and have guided us on a number of occasions to insure the best care possible. Would highly recommend Highfield House.

Overall, ok, although I can see it is short staffed! And the amount of money charged, I am wondering why?
More staff = better care!
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Highfield Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave your feedback for Highfield Care Home. I am so sorry that you felt that the home was not adequately staffed. The staffing numbers are based on the dependency of the residents, and we do complete our rotas with the staff that are needed. I would be happy to discuss any concerns that you may have at any time that would be convenient for yourself. I am so happy to see that you did give the staff the highest review, the staff work so hard to try to meet the needs of all our residents and it is so nice for them to receive the recognition that is deserved.

All the staff are really helpful. My husband gets lots of help to get washed and dressed and access the things he needs. They always offer him a choice of tea or coffee even though they know he likes tea with one sugar. They always let us have our lunch together and give him time to finish his meals
at his own pace.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.441)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.441) out of 10 for Highfield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.441 for Highfield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (153 Excellents x 5) + (104 Goods x 4) + (21 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 281 Ratings = 4.441
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highfield Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
