My mother has been a resident of Victoria House for two years. Whenever I have visited her, she has been clean and tidy, and her room has been clean and tidy. The staff are attentive and efficient. My mother likes to talk to members of the staff at some lengths, and they always seem to be able to balance, giving her the attention she wants and attending to other residents. Mum likes the staff and her conversation with them are light-hearted. The restaurant is always clean, the food looks appetising, and Mum has a good appetite and eats it all up. The staff keep us informed about her health and short term need for medication. Victoria House seems to me, to be well managed and I think the staff are excellent.

I can not be more pleased with the care mum is getting here. Having had to move my mum from another home in Stockton where she was not being cared for properly, it is such a relief now mum is in Victoria House. The staff are always helpful and approachable. Thank you.

Very well run care home. Staff always on hand to help. They treat residents and family like their own family. Mother has settled very well here and is very happy. She loves the food and has put weight on which we were struggling with at home. We as a family rate this care home very highly.

Managed to get mother in law into Victoria House as I knew of its reputation and the quality of the staff.
Since she has been in the home she is eating better, has regained some of her mobility and is happier in herself.

The nurses and carers do an excellent job but they are run off their feet at times. The only improvement I would make would be to have more carers on duty.

The staff and management were fantastic in dealing with the move.
Dad is very happy in his new home.
The staff are very caring.
He enjoys his meals and enjoyed his trip out recently in the van.

Would certainly recommend this home.

My man was a resident here for four months this year and absolutely loved this home, all the staff, carers and nursing team make it a home from home for the relatives as well as the residents. All ways greet you with a smile and nothing is too much trouble.

Carers look after me very well on the whole. The new cook is very good and I always have enough to eat. The room is cleaned to a high standard. I'm always taken to appointments at the right time. I always enjoy going out in the minibus to various places. I'm very happy here.

Victoria House seems to be well run. It is welcoming and when I visit my Aunty I feel at home. I can make a cup of tea and have been offered food etc. The staff are caring and attentive to the needs of the residents. There is a casual attitude, which is not too good, to the loss of clothes and some personal belongings, which is a little lapse. Otherwise, it is good.

On our short visits, it is difficult to make an informed comment.

Our mother often seems to have to wait a long time for the toilet. Staff vary - some are very caring/helpful. I once witnessed a carer using a hoist, banging another resident's leg and laughing. There is a new activity coordinator who is extremely cheerful and lively - just what's needed. Not sure what happens at night. Is there sufficient monitoring of rooms?

A very well kept home, well maintained but certain things could improve, two showers a week is not enough for elderly care. Food very good but not a lot of variety.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Victoria House Care Home

At Victoria House we pride ourselves on delivering person-centred care to all our residents, this includes meeting their needs and preferences with regards to showers or baths and the frequency of these. Staff are generally caring and try to get to know the resident's needs/likes. The home has recently undergone some extensive refurbishment and is looking more "homely" and welcoming.

I can never thank Victoria House Care Home enough for the love, care and dignity offered to my husband whilst he was there.
The staff were excellent and kind. He has settled, comfortable and as happy as he could be. The room was pleasant and I was allowed to personalise it for him.
We were able to sit with him in comfort, so important in his last days.

Both myself and his sister were cared for with tea etc. And when he died they were so kind to me and I was able to sit with him as long as I wished. Thank you for everything.
