Victoria House Care Home

My mother has been a resident of Victoria House for two years. Whenever I have visited her, she has been clean and tidy, and her room has been clean and tidy. The staff are attentive and efficient. My mother likes to talk to members of the staff at some lengths, and they always seem to be able to balance, giving her the attention she wants and attending to other residents. Mum likes the staff and her conversation with them are light-hearted. The restaurant is always clean, the food looks appetising, and Mum has a good appetite and eats it all up. The staff keep us informed about her health and short term need for medication. Victoria House seems to me, to be well managed and I think the staff are excellent.

I would like to thank all staff for taking great care of our mother in the last few months of her life, she and the family were treated like friends, staff always went that extra mile, once again thank you.

I can not be more pleased with the care mum is getting here. Having had to move my mum from another home in Stockton where she was not being cared for properly, it is such a relief now mum is in Victoria House. The staff are always helpful and approachable. Thank you.

Very well run care home. Staff always on hand to help. They treat residents and family like their own family. Mother has settled very well here and is very happy. She loves the food and has put weight on which we were struggling with at home. We as a family rate this care home very highly.

The nurses and carers do an excellent job but they are run off their feet at times. The only improvement I would make would be to have more carers on duty.

The food is excellent and appropriate for my family member.

Would certainly recommend this home.

My man was a resident here for four months this year and absolutely loved this home, all the staff, carers and nursing team make it a home from home for the relatives as well as the residents. All ways greet you with a smile and nothing is too much trouble.

The staff and carers are very helpful and friendly. Not a lot of activities on in an evening.

Carers look after me very well on the whole. The new cook is very good and I always have enough to eat. The room is cleaned to a high standard. I'm always taken to appointments at the right time. I always enjoy going out in the minibus to various places. I'm very happy here.

From the day my wife came into Victoria House she and myself have been made at home and myself have been settled. Thank you to all the staff and management.

Victoria House seems to be well run. It is welcoming and when I visit my Aunty I feel at home. I can make a cup of tea and have been offered food etc. The staff are caring and attentive to the needs of the residents. There is a casual attitude, which is not too good, to the loss of clothes and some personal belongings, which is a little lapse. Otherwise, it is good.

Very good with my mam. Staff very friendly and would recommend the home to anyone. People ask me what home and I say Victoria House.

Our mother often seems to have to wait a long time for the toilet. Staff vary - some are very caring/helpful. I once witnessed a carer using a hoist, banging another resident's leg and laughing. There is a new activity coordinator who is extremely cheerful and lively - just what's needed. Not sure what happens at night. Is there sufficient monitoring of rooms?

A very well kept home, well maintained but certain things could improve, two showers a week is not enough for elderly care. Food very good but not a lot of variety.

Staff are generally caring and try to get to know the resident's needs/likes. The home has recently undergone some extensive refurbishment and is looking more "homely" and welcoming.

We were concerned about dad having to go into a care home but our concerns were immediately alayed by the care and support given by all the staff.

I feel that I know my mother is getting well looked after. She is treated with kindness and compassion by staff who are doing a very difficult job. I can be confident in the knowledge that I am made aware of any problems that should occur and that they get sorted straight away. Everywhere is clean and tidy to a high standard.

Both myself and his sister were cared for with tea etc. And when he died they were so kind to me and I was able to sit with him as long as I wished. Thank you for everything.
