As a nurse myself I was extremely choosy about where to place my mother when we found she needed 24-hour care. I knew immediately that the care home was the one for mam after I visited and was shown the facilities and room that mam would have. The manager went out of her way to make sure the whole process of moving in went smoothly. The whole team are welcoming, friendly and my mam, although at first was really reluctant to accept she needed care, is the happiest I have seen her in ages. She has made new friends, put weight on and even does exercise classes.

The very caring staff have got to know and understand my mother, so well that since being at the home she is so much happier than she used to be.
Nothing is too much for the staff, Mum's Alzheimers was not understood very well at her last home and the improvement since coming to Victoria House is down to the experience and care she is getting here.

The staff seem to like it as they have been there for some time. It's not like Mum's last home where the staff turnover was high.

I can't recommend this care home highly enough, my grandma was here for some respite after we found we were struggling at home. At first, we were all against my grandma going into a home but the way she was treated with such kindness was amazing, every single member of staff made sure that she was looked after and nothing was too much trouble. My grandma became mobile again and we were able to take her back home, the manager even made sure the district nurses visited my grandma when she got home to change her bandage. Thank you all.

My uncle lived at Victoria House for exactly nine years until May 15th 2017. During that time the care and attention he was provided with was second to none. There was a warmth to the atmosphere whenever we visited and the staff could not have done more for him and for us.

For many years he had his own room downstairs which was where he could spend time alone with his newspaper when he wanted to. A visit to the local pub was facilitated and he enjoyed that very much. More recently he moved upstairs and benefited from even more attention from the team. We received regular phone calls and health updates and nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff. A huge thank you to all at Victoria House.

My mother-in-Law is extremely happy in Victoria House. She is well cared for, has in-house activities which she participates in and enjoys. The staff are very attentive, caring and professional. The accommodation is modern, clean and attractively presented. She has a lovely room with an adjustable air bed, tv, alarm and en-suite toilet. My Moither-in-Law has severe disabilities and dementia. She is cared for by dedicated staff and is always well presented and clean and enjoys the varied menus on offer.

Mum had been a resident for 9 months and sadly passed away recently. The care she received was outstanding and she had a very peaceful and dignified death with her family around her. We were all treated with kindness and compassion.

I have been absolutely been blown away by the standard of care, warmth and genuine affection shown to my mother-in-law by all members of staff whilst in Victoria House. We could not have hoped for anywhere better. Family support from all concerned was amazing.

I have been extremely impressed with the way the home is run. I have found all members of staff to be very caring towards my mum. They have been very approachable and are always ready to talk and answer any questions. They have given all members of the family fantastic support, for which we are truly grateful.

My mother was very caringly looked after by all the staff from nursing to housekeeping, activities girls, handyman and carers. Her every need until she sadly passed away on February 1st was taken care of.

The manager's door was always open to us if we had a worry, or even just needed to talk. I was very adamant to place my experience of mams care into a thank you letter which I sent to various authorities to read.

I moved in on the 14th November for 3 weeks. I found the staff very helpful and pleasant. My room was very nice and I also enjoyed the meals they prepared for us. As I can't eat red meat, the chef would prepare me something different, omelettes or toasted sandwiches or if they had chicken he would cook that for me which was very kind.
The staff would help me into a chair and change my pad as well. Everyone was very nice.

I also had my hair cut and styled here and the hairdresser was very nice and good at her job.

My father in law has been a resident for over 2 years, when he first moved in we felt the standard of care was very poor. It has now improved in every aspect and we are more than happy - give the manager a well-deserved pay rise!!

My mum has been at Victoria House for several months now and always looks happy whenever I visit. The staff are really friendly and know my mum really well. I've met the managers and they always have time to chat to me and have always made sure any requests on mum's behalf are dealt with. I would like to thank everyone for the care they give mum.

Review from Jacqueline L (Mother of Resident) published on 22 September 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The service that was provided for my mother was excellent. The only complaint she had was her clothes occasionally go missing at times, even though her name is in every garment. Many garments were returned days later. However, I would recommend this care home, as the staff are wonderful. It's also clean and pleasant. Outside/garden could do with a facelift but it's a very nice space, just could be better.

Thank you for your review. As the home has up to 70 residents at any one time, unfortunately the laundry requires a few days to return garments to the residents which you reflect in your review. The company have taken on board your comments regarding the garden and work has just been undertaken to...

My husband was depressed whilst in a hospital setting, but since he has been in residence here, he is improving greatly. He had lost 10Kg whilst in hospital and was unable to feed himself. Now he can eat proper food and can feed himself and hold a cup of coffee. He is happy here, comfortable and is comfortable around the staff whom he trusts and feels safe with. The staff are very kind and helpful to my husband, myself and my family for which I am very appreciated of. Myself and my family are very impressed and we would recommend this home to anyone one hundred percent.

My Dad has been a resident for a few months now since coming from a hospital setting. In the time he has been here, he has improved greatly with his mobility and his confidence is growing all the time. Dad is very happy and content here and the staff are friendly, supportive and amazing in their care - giving they extend that support to my Mam and our family and keep us fully informed in all aspects of Dad's care. It really is a home from home environment. Very impressed.
