When I realised that my brother was suffering with dementia and no longer able to look after himself at home, I made the difficult decision for him to move to Lanercost House Care Home. I am so glad that I have made this move for him. He has settled in readily and I cannot speak more highly of the genuine care and support which he has been given by all the staff at Lanercost House. This care has supported, not just my brother, but all the family are reassured that he is in the best place for his health and well being
Thank you so much for your kind and positive review. We are so pleased that he has settled so well and can assure you that you will all have the ongoing support of everyone at Lanercost.
I felt very reassured and welcomed from Day one. Excellent care, food, social activities and communication. Spend a lot of time in garden ( kept very nice ) Transport for appointments never a problem. A nice clean room, no problems with Laundry. Overall obviously expensive but worth every penny for peace of mind.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. It is a continued pleasure to take care of your lovely mum who is a very valued member of our community. We remain committed to keeping her safe, comfortable and happy.
I am my mother only carer and was unfortunately admitted to hospital with quite a serious illness. I contacted Lanercost and they stepped in with a room for mum and collected her from her flat. My recovery is expected to be around 6 months and mum has settled in so well she has decided to stay permanently.
I cannot praise the care and kindness that both my aunt, mum and I have received. They make you feel part of their family.
I have no hesitation in recommending Lanercost House.
Thank you very much Candy. It was a pleasure to step in and help and we all wish you a speedy recovery. I am delighted your mother has decided to stay with us permanently and can assure you that we will continue to support your mum, your aunt and yourself in any way we can.
It became clear that my Dad was unsafe staying at home on his own, so as a family we decided that he should be admitted to Lanercost House just before Christmas for a trial period. The process was really smooth from initial enquiry to assessment to admission. He has settled really well. The fantastic staff really look after him and he is looking so much better. He is eating well, always looks well kempt and is enjoying the company of the staff and other residents. This is the perfect place for him to be looked after and we are pleased that he will now be staying as a permanent resident.
Thank you for your lovely, positive feedback. We are delighted that you chose Lanercost for the care of your dad, it is reassuring to see how quickly he has settled and adjusted to his new environment. I can assure you that we will continue to ensure that he has all the support he needs to lead a fulfilling and enjoyable life.
My husband has now been in Lanecroft for nearly 2 years. It was a very difficult decision and one that took a good few months before I could even come to terms with it. When I was finally able to visit, I was reassured by the positivity that exuded around the home. The major strength is due to the dedication and total commitment of the staff. Every one of them, whatever their role, have the ability to make you feel confident in their expertise and genuine care for the residents. Any nursing home can look good and clean, but it's the staff and management that take it to another level. I'm sure you appreciate that they are your biggest asset! P.S speaking as an ex social worker of many years, and a wife of many more!
Thank you Sue for your lovely, positive comments. It is heart warming to receive your feedback regarding our staff and I can reassure you that we very much appreciate them all. We are so pleased that your husband is with us, and, although I know it was difficult for you at first, you too are now very much part of the Lanercost family and we look forward to seeing you every day.
I'm happy to say my mum is now a permanent resident at Lanercost house care home after having some respite care . My mum is so well cared for from all the staff the care is outstanding they are a great team who are all so friendly and caring which gives a welcoming and happy atmosphere. My mum is so settled and happy in Lanercost has made many friends and joins in with the activities which is all down to the activities team which is lovely to see . A big thank you for your amazing care and support from you all at Lanercost care home
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased mum is staying with us. She has become an integral part of our community and it is heartwarming to see how settled she is, she brings a smile to the face of everyone she meets.
It's not a five star hotel, it's a five star care home.
All the staff did their very best over and beyond what I had expected.
Liaison with my GP/district nurse etc was muddled but not necessarily the home's fault.
Mum has just moved in to Lanercost House for 3 weeks respite which may be extended. From day 1 everyone has been kind, warm, welcoming and supportive of mum and also us. It is no easy but we are very happy with the choice we made for mum and us as a family. We are grateful for their professionalism and kindness.
Thank you. We hope you are as happy as we are that your mother has adapted to Lanercost as well as she has. We will continue to support you all during this transition period and beyond.
When visiting Auntie I witnenessed love and care. All staff, cooks, admin, cleaners etc are understanding the rules of the setting. The setting is run very well with happy caring staff. There are no clicks with staff and while sitting with Auntie I couldn't help but iverhear conversations with other residents and staff They all were treated with respect and dignity. As visitors daily we were welcomed and staff updated the daughter and kept her informed with information that was relivent. Thank you all for an outstanding service
Thank you so much for your lovely words, you fill us with a sense of pride and I am so pleased that you were happy with what you witnessed despite this being a very sad time for you. May I convey our deepest condolences to the whole family.
All staff we have met and looked after the resident have treated her with dignity and love. We stayed during her passing and heard the staff treating other residents with love and kindness. Nothing was too much to ask for I was looked after whilst being with me to ask her for blankets, pillows food and drink. Enabling me to be by her side. The atmosphere in the care home is warm, calm and happy. All staff get on and work hard which makes the running of the place clockwork. Residents are clean and happy. Activities are organised well and residents look forward to whats planned.
Thank you for your lovely response, it is so kind of you to think of us at this difficult time. It was privilege and pleasure to care for your dear mother and I'm so happy that the experience was as comforting as possible for you. We miss hearing you play on the piano.
Every member of staff was friendly and professional. My father-in-law was given the specialist support he needed and there was understanding and consideration of his individual needs.
As my father-in-law's condition deteriorated the family were able to spend time with him and the staff were sensitive to our needs as well as his. We felt he was in a safe and caring environment.
Thank you very much for your kind review. It was our privilege to care for your dear Father-in -Law. I am so pleased that he was comfortable and settled and that he managed to spend some quality time with you all. Thinking of you all.
The atmosphere in the care home is incredibly positive, with everyone always smiling. This cheerful environment undoubtedly contributes to the overall well-being of the residents.
Kindness and respect are at the core of the care home's ethos. These values underpin every aspect of their care, ensuring that residents feel valued and respected at all times.
The staff are not only compassionate but also resilient. They consistently demonstrate a willingness to come up with innovative solutions to any challenges that arise, ensuring that the residents receive the best possible care.
Overall, this care home excels in creating a warm and respectful environment for its residents. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place where their loved ones will be well cared for.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such lovely feedback. It is heartwarming to know that the efforts of all our team members are appreciated and acknowledged. We are so pleased that you chose Lanercost to take care of your mother.
My mum was admitted to Barchester Lanercost House Care Home on 10th October. The whole process was dealt with professionally and very quickly. Although her time there was short, she was given the best care, compassion and love from all the staff as she came to her end of life. We, as a family will be eternally grateful to the team that mum was kept comfortable and well cared for. Thank you all so much
When I arrived to see this facility, I was delighted! It is in a nice location and beautifully maintained. The staff are all lovely very friendly and helpful. I feel Dad is in a very caring environment and is very well looked after. As I live abroad, this is extremely important to me. Staff have gone out of their wat to ensure that Dad is catered for in everyway. As I leave to go home, I am happy to leave him in your care and hope he continues to thrive as much as possible.
Thank you, Lynn, for your lovely words. We are delighted to have your father here with us and thank you and the family for choosing Lanercost as his residence. We will do everything we can to ensure he has an enjoyable and fulfilling time with us. I hope you got home safely and I do hope we will see you again in the future.
She really enjoyed the food and the company of others at meal times but enjoyed being able to return to her room to spend time in her own company.
She said that all the staff were lovely and very caring and couldn't do enough for her.
She is looking forward to a visit again later in the year.
Thank you so much for your kind review. It was our pleasure to care for your husband's aunt and I am pleased she enjoyed her stay and that you were equally able to enjoy your holiday. I do hope we see her again next time you go away.
Only one thing to say "excellent" none better.
Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased that you chose to come and live with us here at Lanercost. We will continue to provide you with the care of the highest standards and endeavour to meet all your needs.
My aunt came to Lanercost in August 2023 gravely ill. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Lanercost, they not only revived her but gave her and the family 12 more months of life. During the 12 months, my aunt received quality, loving care and was able to enjoy a reasonable quality of life again. All staff (manager deputy, reception, nurses carers, cleaners, catering, maintenance) were always polite, courteous and helpful and displayed exemplary and professional standards. Barchester should be proud.
Thank you so much for your lovely words. It was our pleasure to take care of such a remarkable lady, and we are so pleased we were able to make a difference during the last year of her life. Our thoughts and sympathy are extended to you all at this sad time.
I believe my aunt is well taken care of by staff.
Facilities are always clean and tidy. Wish the sofas could be changed, they look old and run-down.
Thank you for your kind review. I am very happy to be able to tell you that the refurbishment of the unit is now complete and all the sofas, as well as the other furniture, have been replaced and the unit is looking lovely. I would be delighted to receive your feedback when you next visit. Please...
They seem to be doing a good job. My aunt always looks in goo health and they look like they care about her.

Varied activities are provided on a daily basis. The quality of all meals is excellent. Care plans are individualised and my father has thrived since being a resident.
Thank you so much for your review. It is so important to us to ensure that every resident receives care that is focused towards them, their interests and their likes and dislikes. I am delighted that we are meeting all the needs of your father and that he is responding well.

I joined the team in August 2023 having worked in both nursing and management roles for over 20 years.
I am delighted to bring my experience to a staff group that demonstrates their passion and caring to all who have contact with the home.

Hello, my name is Kaye, and I am the resident ambassador of Lanercost House Care Home.
I have been living at Lanercost House since 2016 after having suffered from a stroke, which left me bedbound and unable to talk. Since then, I have been getting around in an electric wheelchair and am working on re-learning how to walk.
I cannot talk; however, I use my own sign language and hand movements to communicate. I often like to greet visitors as they enter the home and show off my artwork, which I am very proud of.
In 2025, I won the Care Awards as National Resident Ambassador of the Year. I am very proud of this achievement and may show off my Star badge and photo to you.
I am very passionate about all things fashion and beauty and love seeing people's outfits and complimenting them.
Overall, I look forward to meeting new people and getting to welcome them to Lanercost.

It is a pleasure to work here and be part of the Lanercost family. We all work together to provide our Residents with a wonderful life.
I operate an open-door approach, so please feel free to pop into my office for a chat!

Hi, my name is Sadia, and I am the Administration Assistant at Lanercost House. I joined the Admin team at Lanercost in 2024 after having previously worked in retail.
My favourite part of the job is meeting new people and enquirers and showing them around our beautiful home. I am always available at Reception for a chat and will always try my hardest to answer any questions any enquirers, visitors, residents, or staff may have.
Outside of work, I spend time with my three cats, Maya, Moon and Mochi, who are all black and white cats and love causing chaos!
Overall, I will always ensure that you receive the warmest of welcomes to Lanercost House.

I joined Barchester Healthcare in April 2017. I thoroughly enjoy looking after the Residents and spending time chatting with them and supporting their daily activities of life. I am proud to lead this unit with a whole team approach.
I continue to develop my skills to support our Residents on a day-to-day basis, I enjoy my job and enjoy any training that helps with my continued development that enhances the delivery of great Quality Care to my Residents within the Home.

Hello! My name is Sophie, and I am the head of Priory Unit.
I started working here in 2025 and help lead the Priory team and manage it. We aim to provide residents with dementia the utmost dignified care possible, enriching their lives through food, activities and care.
My favourite part of the job is meeting new residents and getting to know them more. I love hearing people's life stories!
At home I have a dog called Flynn who I adore. Flynn loves to come into the Home sometimes and cuddle with the residents.

My name is Tracy. I am the Head of Unit of The Carlyle Suite.
Prior to commencing my nurse training, I worked as a care assistant in a nursing home in Weston-super-Mare. It was here that I found my passion for caring for the elderly and, after several years of working as a carer, I applied for my nursing job.
I commenced my RGN training way back in 1990 in Bristol, thirty-six years ago! Our cohort was one of the first Project 2000 intakes, for those of you old enough to remember Project 2000.
Six years ago, I made the leap from the NHS into the private sector, where I worked as the deputy manager in another local care home and, for the last three years, was the Home manager of that home.
In my spare time, I spend time with my family, my dog and my horse!
I look forward to meeting you all and am always available for a chat on how we can support your loved one!

Putting a smile on the faces of the Residents and enriching their lives through meaningful activities and interactions is the most rewarding feeling.
