After the last couple of months, I have seen a massive change to my mother's care (all for the better). I can not praise the members of staff enough for their kindness and support and when I leave the care home I can come home knowing my mother is in safe hands and getting the care she needs. Massive
thank you to all the staff.

My wife came to the home directly from the hospital and I was worried as to how she would respond to the move. Arriving at Abigail some 30 mins after her arrival by ambulance I was greeted by her team’s charge nurse and whilst being taken to her room was told she had settled in very well – to say that
was an instant relief would be an understatement. I visited my wife daily for about 2 hours up until the Covid restrictions and was always greeted with my wife appearing looking well dressed and cared for. The staff were always caring, courteous, and lovely in all respects, so much so that I thought of them as extended family members. Having that kind of backup, allowed worries about her care to be secondary to see how her wellbeing was being affected by Alzheimer’s, which I can only say gave me a tremendous uplift to my wellbeing. So all I can say is my grateful thanks to all who played a part in looking after her.

The staff are friendly and helpful also caring. I have found them approachable and communication is always open. Covid has had such a negative impact on the staff and the residents. Hopefully, I will be able to return on a regular basis to visit my lady. Well done to all the staff.

Anyone who has experience of a loved one going through dementia will know how heartbreaking it is to see them suffer. We had decided to care for our Mam at home but sadly it was too much for her and my Dad. Reluctantly we had to put her into care. She has been in Abigail Lodge Care Home now for nearly
two months and we can't fault it. The staff are lovely and caring and the place is calm and peaceful. Covid-19 restrictions are in place and visitors are tested constantly. Most of all though is how content my Mam is. She is happy there and is actually looking better and if she's happy, we're happy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abigail Lodge Care Home.

A kind, caring, well run home where everyone is treated with dignity. Mam has settled really well into the care home and this is because of the care of the staff and understanding of Mam's needs. I have also appreciated the support from the staff during this time, as finding and moving Mam into a care
home is stressful at the best of times, even worse in a pandemic. Mam says how kind everyone is. This is so important. She also likes the activities.

Due to COVID-19 over the past year and my relative only came in during the virus so I have only had very limited experience of the home to date, but have found all the staff friendly, informative, helpful and positive. Looking forward to home life at Abigail to getting back to normal for everyone.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.287)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.287) out of 10 for Abigail Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.287 for Abigail Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (157 Excellents x 5) + (106 Goods x 4) + (39 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 314 Ratings = 4.287
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abigail Lodge Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
