Our family is very happy with the care given to my husband. He is very happy in this home and he has made good progress since coming here. He's certainly proved the doctors wrong. Months ago they only gave him 3-4 months at the most. I have difficulties walking as I am waiting for a hip placement op and the staff here are so good to me. They help me from the taxi to his room, then on my return home, they help me again. Sometimes when I've been a bit upset they are also there with help. The only downside is the laundry staff putting other men's clothes in his wardrobe.

I used this website to choose the care for our mam, who had broken her hip but then been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, so her care costs were covered. On the whole, the staff were amazing and we felt our mam was totally safe and cared for. There were 4 members of staff in particular who were outstanding, and showed great empathy and care for our mam - the rest of the team were great, however, we did have one incident where mam's dignity was affected, hence the score, but when we reported this, the Care Home Manager did investigate and managed this as effectively as possible, and has used this constructively in staff training. Unfortunately, Mam could not eat properly and was on a soft food diet (blended), so I can't really comment on food - other than it always smelt amazing. The home is a little tired in decor, but the staff make up for this, and at the end, we couldn't have been happier.

My overall review of Abigail Lodge Care Home is excellent and especially the care in my Father’s unit. The staff treat him with kindness, dignity and respect. We have always been made to feel very welcome and feel reassured that my Father is in a kind, caring environment. We have been kept updated on a regular basis and we were allowed to visit when permitted during the pandemic. We have been fully supportive of any changes in medication, diet or care they have suggested to ensure he is well and safe. The rooms are immaculate and nothing out of place, which my Father likes. The food is excellent and he is very happy with his meals. We cannot praise and thank all of the staff enough. I would highly recommend Abigail Lodge Care Home to any potential resident and their family.

After the last couple of months, I have seen a massive change to my mother's care (all for the better). I can not praise the members of staff enough for their kindness and support and when I leave the care home I can come home knowing my mother is in safe hands and getting the care she needs. Massive thank you to all the staff.

Review from Jerry D (Husband of Resident) published on 2 February 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife came to the home directly from the hospital and I was worried as to how she would respond to the move. Arriving at Abigail some 30 mins after her arrival by ambulance I was greeted by her team’s charge nurse and whilst being taken to her room was told she had settled in very well – to say that was an instant relief would be an understatement. I visited my wife daily for about 2 hours up until the Covid restrictions and was always greeted with my wife appearing looking well dressed and cared for. The staff were always caring, courteous, and lovely in all respects, so much so that I thought of them as extended family members. Having that kind of backup, allowed worries about her care to be secondary to see how her wellbeing was being affected by Alzheimer’s, which I can only say gave me a tremendous uplift to my wellbeing. So all I can say is my grateful thanks to all who played a part in looking after her.

The staff are friendly and helpful also caring. I have found them approachable and communication is always open. Covid has had such a negative impact on the staff and the residents. Hopefully, I will be able to return on a regular basis to visit my lady. Well done to all the staff.

Anyone who has experience of a loved one going through dementia will know how heartbreaking it is to see them suffer. We had decided to care for our Mam at home but sadly it was too much for her and my Dad. Reluctantly we had to put her into care. She has been in Abigail Lodge Care Home now for nearly two months and we can't fault it. The staff are lovely and caring and the place is calm and peaceful. Covid-19 restrictions are in place and visitors are tested constantly. Most of all though is how content my Mam is. She is happy there and is actually looking better and if she's happy, we're happy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abigail Lodge Care Home.

A kind, caring, well run home where everyone is treated with dignity. Mam has settled really well into the care home and this is because of the care of the staff and understanding of Mam's needs. I have also appreciated the support from the staff during this time, as finding and moving Mam into a care home is stressful at the best of times, even worse in a pandemic. Mam says how kind everyone is. This is so important. She also likes the activities.

Due to COVID-19 over the past year and my relative only came in during the virus so I have only had very limited experience of the home to date, but have found all the staff friendly, informative, helpful and positive. Looking forward to home life at Abigail to getting back to normal for everyone.

When I first visited Abigail Lodge Care Home about three years ago, I was struck by the ambience of the place. This has continued and I'm sure resulting from this the residents and their carers are happy and contented. My husband has continued to receive wonderful care from everyone.
