Abigail Lodge Care Home

When I first visited Abigail Lodge Care Home about three years ago, I was struck by the ambience of the place. This has continued and I'm sure resulting from this the residents and their carers are happy and contented. My husband has continued to receive wonderful care from everyone.

Made to feel welcome, safe and well cared for.

I am notified of my stepdad's health. There is a Facebook page with photos and activities. I feel reassured that although I have not seen my stepdad due to home restrictions and also my family having covid, I feel I can approach staff at any time and each phone call is well received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Fantastic, caring staff. They look after relatives as well as residents.

We have had difficult times over this last year. The staff have always provided the best care ensuring a safe and secure facility, keeping the residents' care and welfare the utmost priority.

I have nothing but praise for this home, my husband is very happy there. The staff are spot on when I phone to see how he is. They are always ready to tell me what's going on, even though I do not think he knows us now but he is always happy to see us.

The staff at Abigail Lodge are second to none. They are the true assets of this care home! They provide a warm welcoming homely feel to the place and have been very supportive and accommodating during the 20 months Mum has been a resident, especially during this Covid pandemic when their hands have been tied with various restrictions. As a family, we looked at many other care homes, most with excellent facilities, decor, grounds etc. However, having visited Abigail Lodge, we were so impressed with the staff that we decided to disregard the tired-looking decor at the interior and especially that in Mum's ensuite (which is far from the standard she was used to in her own home) and the very sad looking rear garden. Both staff and residents deserve some financial investment.

My father went in as a resident in November and after 2 weeks in quarantine, he is now experiencing the full benefits that Abigail Lodge has to offer. During December he has been involved in many fun events, being encouraged to join in, and after months of stress on my dad's face, due to health issues and him missing all his friends before he went in the home, I have now seen the sparkle come back and my dad slowly settle. Yes, we are all missing the contact but the staff are doing everything they can possibly do to settle Dad and keep us in touch. Nothing is too much trouble - every phone call I make they make me feel welcome. They go out of their way to to make Dad comfortable, the latest example being moving him to another room, but they explained if he doesn’t like it it’s fine, they’ll move him back! That’s amazing, his wellbeing is above the work involved - thank you to each and every one of the “new family”. Each one of you deserves a medal!

We would like to thank the staff of Abigail Lodge for the care and compassion shown to my Mother in the last few weeks of her life. It was reassuring for the family to know she was as comfortable as possible and well looked after. Thank you.

During the virus, things changed overnight. No longer were we able to take Dad out, have him round for Sunday lunch or just visit. Yet again the staff went above and beyond, keeping us updated with phone calls, website photos etc. and a video call between my father and my mother, which gave them both a huge lift. Thank you all.

Brilliant home, care and other services, e.g. cleaning and laundry do a fantastic job. My mother-in-law loves living here. Keep up the good work. Brilliant staff.

My family and myself would like to thank all the staff at Abigail Lodge for their care and support they have shown to our father and all of us at a very sad time, as my dad is at end of life and his care has been so good from all staff team. They truly care, a credit to your company. From the domestics, right up to your manager. Thank you so much.

Dad's only been in a couple of weeks, up 'til now we cannot fault the staff or the home in any way.

Both of my parents have been residents of Abigail Lodge over the last 3 years. My mum passed away in February 2018 and my Dad in July 2019. I wanted to write this review because care home staff get such a bad press and I cannot fault the quality of care that both my parents received. I would especially like to thank the team at Abigail Lodge for the time they spent with my Dad helping him to adjust after the loss of his wife of 59 years. It has helped both me and my brother to know that Dad was looked after, kept warm, well-fed and supported. We will always be grateful for everything the staff did for them both.

The Abigail team took wonderful care of mum and dad for 12 months before mum sadly passed away in 2018. From that point, they looked after dad with bucket loads of love until he sadly died on July 1st this year. We will never forget what they have done for our family and they will stay in our hearts forever.

I recommend Abigail Lodge Care Home because of the care the staff provide to my brother. Also, they are always helpful to me and my family when we visit. No matter how busy the staff are, they always have time for every resident.

We were extremely impressed with how well our mother was looked after and cared for. Staff were helpful and caring. The food was good and mam improved quite quickly. Many thanks for everything.

We can not praise Abigail Lodge enough. Our mother came to the care home suffering form Alzheimer's and dementia and had been very lonely, unhappy and frightened at home for some time and no matter what we did, nothing made her any better but we were trying to keep her in her own home.

Abigail Lodge have been amazing to her, she was happy, contented, settled, well fed and well looked after from the minute she arrived there. All of the staff have been wonderful.

We would recommend Abigail Lodge without any doubt.
