This purpose-built care home provides nursing and social care for the frail elderly and the mentally infirm elderly.

Accommodation at Abigail Lodge is offered in single occupancy rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities.

Abigail Lodge features TV lounges and a quiet sitting room for relaxation. There are dining rooms available, where residents can socialise with others at meal times. Both of my parents have been residents of Abigail Lodge over the last 3 years. My mum passed away in February 2018 and my Dad in July 2019. I wanted to write this review because care home staff get such a bad press and I cannot fault the quality of care that both my parents received. I would especially
like to thank the team at Abigail Lodge for the time they spent with my Dad helping him to adjust after the loss of his wife of 59 years. It has helped both me and my brother to know that Dad was looked after, kept warm, well-fed and supported. We will always be grateful for everything the staff did for them both.

My mum and dad came to stay in Abigail Lodge in early 2017 as life became a challenge for them both. After a short settling in period, they both became very comfortable with the care and service provided by the team. Both myself and my sister could immediately tell the amount of love, care and professionalism
as soon as we walked in the place when we first looked at options.
It is not important for the care home to be located in the middle of a big city or town, the importance of the team and individuals within the building is the most important factor as far as we were concerned. Abigail is a team of Angels in our eyes.
The Abigail team took wonderful care of mum and dad for 12 months before mum sadly passed away in 2018. From that point, they looked after dad with bucket loads of love until he sadly died on July 1st this year. We will never forget what they have done for our family and they will stay in our hearts forever.

We were not looking forward to mother going into the home as we have heard really bad things about homes. This does not include Abigail Lodge though.
We were extremely impressed with how well our mother was looked after and cared for. Staff were helpful and caring. The food was good and mam improved
quite quickly. Many thanks for everything.

My mam had to go into Abigail Lodge for intermediate care for up to six weeks. Her stay was short (2weeks) but she was very happy there and very well looked after. She felt safe and secure with the people caring for her. Unfortunately, on her second day, she had a major collapse but the level of care
and concern from the staff was second to none, not only did they take great care of mam till paramedics arrived but also my daughter and her two young boys who all witnessed the traumatic event. I would not hesitate to recommend Abigail Lodge to anyone, they have a very caring, thoughtful and diligent workforce.
During mams stay, it was the run up to Christmas and they had a party for the residents, I was made so welcome, given a seat at the table whilst visiting during the party and even got to play pass the parcel, haha!

We can not praise Abigail Lodge enough. Our mother came to the care home suffering form Alzheimer's and dementia and had been very lonely, unhappy and frightened at home for some time and no matter what we did, nothing made her any better but we were trying to keep her in her own home.


After she

had a fall it became obvious that she was not safe at home and she said she did not want to be at her home anymore.
Abigail Lodge have been amazing to her, she was happy, contented, settled, well fed and well looked after from the minute she arrived there. All of the staff have been wonderful.


Sadly our mother became ill in June and passed away at the end of June. Again the home could not have been kinder to us all. For her last few days, we needed to be with her and the home gave us the use of one of the rooms so that we could stay and someone could be with her all the time. The staff kept us plied with teas and coffees all through this time.
We would recommend Abigail Lodge without any doubt.

I visited my Gran for the first time whilst residing in Abigail Lodge Care Home and could not believe how settled she was. As a senior lead in another Care home, I know how hard it can be to settle someone with dementia into a new setting but was overwhelmed with the amount of support my Gran is given
in everyday life and the support she is given to remain independent.

My mother recently moved into Abigail Lodge, she suffers from dementia but has always been an independent lady.


The move was quite distressing for her which is understandable given that she was moving out of her home that she has lived in for over 20 years, but the staff at Abigail Lodge have been

fantastic, they have made her feel very welcome and part of the family.


Before my mother moved in, we were encouraged and supported by the manager and staff to furnish her room in a way that would be familiar to her to make her feel more at home, she was allowed to take her budgie in with her which meant a great deal to her and the family because it was causing her distress as to what was going to happen to him once she moved into the care home.


Now that she is in the home, she is enjoying the home cooked meals and the friendly banter with the staff. She is pleased that she can still have her independence and privacy when she desires it and that the family can visit any time of the day or night.

My 92year old mum who has Alzheimer's has been very well cared for by all staff while at Abigail Lodge all her medical needs are met and prompt action is taken if she is ever ill. All the staff are very caring. Mum is happy with the food. Any problems are sorted out immediately. The activities co-ordinator
works very hard and organises interesting activities for the residents. Dogs are allowed in the home which most of the residents enjoy seeing.

This is my report after visiting for 3 years- four hours each day. One gets a good insight into the workings on the workings in the home. I would not nominate any 1 carer as they all deserve an "Oscar" for their devotion to the residents. I know it is hard work and exhausting and demanding. Believe
me the residents are loved and cared for. Hugs, kisses and laughs are in abundance and plentiful. Luckily the new manager is a gem, very approachable, door always open, so caring to all staff included. Also we still have a deputy manager who loves and cares, also we are lucky to have them both. You know as I write this I am having a few tears as I know how lucky we are in this home and experience the atmosphere yourself. There but for the grace of God, so true. I believe in this home, residents are content, it is filled with love. Manager tells me there is always room for improvement "that's her."

My husband has been in this care home for 13 months now and I can honestly say I would never wish him to be anywhere else for nursing care. Abigail Lodge is like home from home as far as the love and caring goes. Its one big happy family. The staff are there for you straight away if there is any problem.
My husband is kept clean, shaved and teeth always brushed. He is fed good food and always has plenty to drink. Clean clothes every day, the laundry is excellent as long as your name is on each item. My mother in law is in the downstairs part and she says the staff are all wonderful and they are.

I find that the company Four Seasons will go that extra mile for me and my family if I have any concerns with my brother. The carers are excellent in their job, and nothing is a problem for them. I feel that I must put this in writing as the home Abigail Lodge has exceptional staff.

My dad has been in Abigail Lodge for a year now and within this time I have been very satisfied that he is well cared for in every way. The staff are very attentive to his needs and have a very personable approach, giving him the utmost respect and retaining his dignity. The staff are also very supportive

Outside of work, Claire enjoys spending time with her fiancé, children, and dogs, going on walks, and family holidays. Her personal achievements include buying her first home at 18 and being a proud mother to her two children.
