Birchwood Court Residential Care Home

Staff and everything they do with the home is first class. A big thanks to everyone.

The staff work very hard at Birchwood, however, I feel sometimes more focus needed on residents personal care ie, teeth cleaning, hand/nail care and change of clothes. My mother needs prompting and assistance, and I don't think carers are given enough time to do this. During the lockdown, activities have been so important for mental stimulation. I think more staff could have been used for providing the activities, especially weekends when the coordinator is off. Again, not the staff's fault.

My aunt has been a resident at Birchwood Court for ten months now following being discharged from hospital. In that time issues regarding my aunt's health and wellbeing have been addressed and I am happy to see my aunt has gained weight. It is nice to hear that my aunt is joining in with some of the activities. Staff are friendly, provide excellent care and support and are willing to answer any questions or concerns.

Dad and family have always been happy with his care. We have a good relationship with staff who are friendly helpful and professional new and old staff. These have been hard times the home has coped remarkably and this is down to the staff. Look forward to interacting with my dad and other residents like before.

The staff at Birchwood Court Residential Care Home have always provided very good support and care for my mam. I am happy in the knowledge that she is well looked after, especially during these difficult times of Covid. They are like extended family and have supported both myself and my mam during her time here! I would definitely recommend Birchwood Court to anyone needing similar care. There have been a number of changes over the last few years, but the health and wellbeing of residents is always their main priority.

I have always found the staff to be warm and welcoming. I speak to Mum on a weekly basis on the phone or from a distance on visits when permitted during these Covid times. She always tells me how well she is treated and how comfortable she is. I always look to see how she looks on the outside. Mum always has a cheerful manner on visits, and her smile says it all. I am pleased with the caring attitudes of the manager and staff, as I know she is in safe hands and is stimulated by varied and interesting activities. I strongly feel that all staff have gone above and beyond in order to keep spirits high for all residents.

I have been a resident here for over a year and the care, respect and fun I have has been incredible. I know if I feel ill the staff have made sure that I get medical help, they sympathise and they show so much support. My life here is so much fun and I feel safe especially through the pandemic. Thank you to the management, carers, domestics and everyone at Birchwood Court you are the most professional, caring and amazing people.

I feel my mum-in-law really gets looked after and is cared for well but she's lost things and hasn't got them back e.g. new clothes, bag, purse, phone, holdall. Can you try to solve this problem, please?

My mam has been there for about two years and generally, there's been no problems except for a short amount of time, our family thought her personal hygiene could have been better. The staff are great. Myself and my sister have asked on numerous occasions about her holdall, purse, bag, phone, new clothes which I bought for her because she says she has got these items, maybe they are in her old room.

My mother moved into Birchwood Court a year ago, and we have nothing but praise and admiration for all the staff and the care they have taken with her. She has had two hip replacements and on returning to the home, was looked after with great attention. Over the terrible covid period, when we couldn't visits, the staff were never too busy to keep us informed of her health, when we rang, which was very reassuring. The staff are very friendly, and we know our Mum is in the best hands, can't praise them enough!

I couldn't find a most perfect care home for her, which makes me and my family highly satisfied. Thank you so much Birchwood Team.

Myself and my family can not thank the management and staff at Birchwood Court enough, we have never doubted that our relative is in the best place for her health and wellbeing. She has always been treated with respect, dignity, care and compassion. Thank you so much to all the staff through this awful pandemic, you have shown complete professionalism and care. You all deserve a very great big thank you. Amazing place and amazing team run by amazing management.

I had to come into residential care following an accident. I must admit it wasn't what I would have chosen to do. However, the staff at Brichwood have all helped me settle in. I have received excellent care. They all do their best to make me feel at home. They can't do enough for me.

I am getting looked after. No worries. Get everything provided and quite satisfied. Staff very good and always busy. Need to have time for residents.

Parent and Aunty both pleased with their care and home in general. Love the staff. Enjoy having activities for company. They cannot watch residents all the time and my parent has lost or misplaced quite a few items. Have taken jewellery home so it doesn't go missing so she cannot wear it. Both would not leave only if able to go home which will not be soon.

My wife passed away in Birchwood Court on 26th November 2014. Since then I have gone for my meals every day. The staff are all really friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. If I had to go into care I would definitely be going into Birchwood as I can't praise it enough.

Any issues that have emerged have been dealt with promptly. I would highly recommend this residential home.

My father has been at Birchwood for five months. Some staff are excellent and some not so but, overall good. Birchwood is kept clean and tidy. The activities coordinator is very good. Sometimes there is a lack of communication between staff and management with family. Sometimes staff don't listen to family advice about my father e.g no butter on bread/toast. No gravy on his meals and need to be reminded regularly. Laundry system needs reviewing as clothes are regularly being mislaid.

The whole team at Birchwood are exceptional and I thank them dearly for helping me through these last few weeks.
