The staff are excellent, so helpful and friendly. They have all made my nana feel really at home. The home is very clean and tidy, and the food is delicious. The gardens are very well cared for and so pretty.

My 87-year-old auntie arrived here in July following an operation. The nursing care she has received has been of a very high standard and I feel safe she is now in much better health.
All the staff are friendly and very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and my auntie is very happy here. There are
lots of activities throughout the week to break up what could be "long days".


Visitors are always greeted with a smile and regularly offered refreshments when the tea trolley comes around. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone considering a stay whether on a temporary basis or permanent basis. HC One is truly happy care home.

Defoe Court is amazing, a real home from home. The manager does a wonderful job, the girls are all kind and show love to my family, nothing is ever to much trouble.
The care at Defoe Court is outstanding. All the team are amazing, the home never smells and it is always clean. The music playing around
the home is a lovely touch.

My father has lived at Defoe Court for over four years, I visit every day. The changes the home has gone through have gone from strength to strength. The home is always so clean. My father is always singing and dancing with the girls. My dad is my only parent I have, to know he is being looked after
with so much compassion and dignified care makes me so happy. I cannot shout about Defoe Court enough and always recommend the home to my friends.

This nursing home is full of genuinely caring staff. My Mam died with deteriorating health and needed 24-hour care and she got more than that as everyone made her feel like she was part of a bigger family.
When I visited Mam, we were also made to feel like we were just popping "home". The staff could
not have done more to make me feel welcome from a cup of tea to a shoulder to cry on. Sadly my Mam passed away in June, but the staff made the end time of her life peaceful and supported all the family with great dignity and compassion. Which has allowed us all peace in the knowledge that Mam had spent her last days around those that genuinely cared. Far beyond a job title, just love!

I visited the home with my wife. I was extremely impressed with the home. Music playing, it smelt clean and fresh. Most importantly, the care was outstanding. The staff are always smiling and friendly. All the team do really care.

Whilst my mother attended Defore Court she has first class care and medical attention. She was treated with respect and dignity at all times. All her basic needs were met, she was clean and served well-cooked food. Most of the staff go the extra mile.

I am privileged to work for a CQC 'Outstanding' rated care home and therefore my expectations of care homes are high. I was pleasantly surprised at Defoe Court Care home, they provided my Nanna with excellent care in the time that she was with them and not only that but welcomed my non-resident Grandfather
into the community allowing him to join in activities with my late Nanna.


Nothing was too much trouble for the staff from Nurse to Kitchen staff and all in between, and they were exceptionally kind and accommodating during the final days of my Nannas life.


I would highly recommend this care home.


Thank you to all of the staff at Defoe Court, you should be very proud of the difference you are making to people's lives.

Mam was well looked after medically. She was also treated with dignity and love. Staff also thought about the feelings of family members. The care and devotion given to my mam while in care at Defoe Court Care Home for five months up to her sad passing on 8th January were amazing. Everyone from the cleaners up to the management helped in any way they could. Always a very warm welcome someone to chat to and on my mams passing a shoulder
to cry on. If you are looking for a care home for your loved one. Rest assured Defoe Court Care Home will do their absolute best. A big thank you to the manager and all her staff.

Defoe Court Care Home has been fantastic these last few weeks helping settle my grandad. The staff can't do enough, there is always someone checking in and making sure he's alright. My grandad is very happy in here and they are doing their best to reduce his pain and also reassure us as his family.
My grandad's appetite has decreased and the catering staff have taken this into account and provided him with his favourite sweet treats. Thank you, staff, at Defoe Court Care Home for taking such good care of my grandad.

My father died at Defoe Court in January 2017. He was 95 years old and had been in Defoe for 3 and a half years.
For the last month of his life, he was very frail and poorly, it was an extremely difficult time for us. I can't express how much the manager, staff, cleaners, kitchen staff, just everyone
helped made this experience more bearable for us. They were kind, compassionate and caring. They treated my father with great respect and gentleness. They became an extended family to us during that time and without their support, we would have struggled. Defoe Court has the most wonderful manager and staff. Thank you.

The manager and her team delivered superb care to my Grandad. In his final days they made us feel like he was more than just a resident and the manager spoke at his funeral.


Her and her staff were like extended family and I can't thank them enough for all their support.

Unfortunately, during the last 9 years, I have been involved with care homes. This is due to the illness of my inlaws and Aunty. This is the fourth home we have had relatives in and the first time we can drive home relaxed and happy. I cannot express how good the care is at Defoe Court. The warmth they
show is heartwarming and it reminds me of the feeling I got as a child waking up on Christmas morning. They have made my relatives feel special which the elderly should feel like. I would like to thank the manager and all the staff of Defoe Court for the kindness and care they have shown. I honestly have never met kinder, warmer, professional people ever. Thank you.

My granddad was recently in Defoe Court Care Home as he was unable to manage at home alone any longer. From day one the staff were amazing with him, he wasn't the easiest man to look after. Not once did this annoy the carers. Instead, they did everything they could to make it feel like home for him
and they never once pushed him to do anything he did not feel comfortable with. Sadly my granddad passed away in the home just over a week ago, the staff treated him with as much dignity and respect in death as they had done when he was alive. He was very fond of them and always said how kind, caring and considerate they were. The day my granddad died the staff could not do enough for the family. The manager brought us hot drinks and sandwiches to make sure we all ate and they let us spend time with him alone in his room to say our goodbyes. We cannot thank them all enough for everything they have done for him and for us. This really is a wonderful care home full of lovely staff.

My mum has been in care as a residential client for 6 years, a year ago she was transferred to Defoe Court Care Home and from her transfer date to now I have experienced and observed a care home that really does care. The care manager and all the team have the utmost support, respect and dignity far
outstanding my expectations. They always engage with the needs of my mum and have more patience and understanding than they will ever be given credit for. I visit three days a week and on my exit, I leave smiling. A fantastic home!!
