Defoe Court Care Home, located in the friendly town of Newton Aycliffe, provides personalised residential and nursing care to older people.

The lovely home offers an ever-popular hairdressing salon, tea room and fantastic wellbeing programme for all residents to enjoy. Defoe Court also boasts a selection of specially designed dining areas that provide the perfect space to share meals with fellow residents or family and friends.

Our friend's dignity was preserved throughout, and she was given excellent care right up to the moment she died, in my opinion, the staff went beyond the call of duty, they were excellent! Even though we were not family, they made sure we were looked after and cared for too, especially on the afternoon
that she died, the two staff who came into her room were marvellous. We could not praise the staff and this care home enough for what they did for our friend!

My wife was admitted to Defoe Court Care Home for palliative care and was unconscious throughout her stay, showing no response at all. Despite this, the staff were so friendly towards her, assuming that she would still be able to hear. They were also most supportive to us, allowing us unlimited visiting
and catering for us in such difficult times until she eventually passed away. All the staff should be fully commended.

The palliative care Mum received at Defoe Court was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble for the carers and nurses looking after her. Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive at all times, even after the very long shifts they did either daytime or through the night. I would recommend Defoe
Court to anyone whose loved ones require end-of-life care. Mum's last days, although difficult, were made easier for us by the staff.

One word, fantastic! As a family, we can't thank the staff at Defoe Court enough. The care and compassion my mam has received are amazing. The staff also extend the same care and compassion to us as a family. Nothing is too much trouble. Mam and the family have always been treated with respect and dignity.
The whole team at Defoe Court should be recognised for their care and commitment to each resident and their families, witnessed every day!

This care home is built with a big heart, and it is the staff to thank for this. Their care is exemplary when fully staffed, and work so hard together when not. A very warm and caring attitude towards residents and their families, and I would like them to know how much they are appreciated by us all.

Every time I've visited my mother-in-law, I have been highly impressed by the warm welcome, professional and at the same time informed approach from every staff member. They really show a fantastic caring approach, not only to the residents but also to the families.

My grandad came into the home for respite care. Staff were amazing and welcomed my grandad and family to the home, the room he was in was lovely and we were allowed to rearrange the bed to where he could see out the window and watch the birds. My grandad didn't want to leave when we came to pick him
up, he said the meals were lovely and that he attended the dining room and chatted with two other gentlemen. He has stated since being back home that he wants to come back to the home.

The nursing care given to Mam has been exceptional and as she has improved, all the staff have taken time to chat with her and not rush away when they have done what was needed. The food looks wonderful and the chef also takes time to find out what Mam likes and makes sure her food is cut up small.
Mam is very happy to be there and says she is well looked after so I am content to know she is in such good hands. Thank you all very much.

Excellent! The care my dad has received from the moment he arrived at Defoe Court Care Home has been exceptional. All of the staff have made my dad feel very welcome, safe and cared for. He has settled very well and is doing well thanks to all the staff. The home is always clean and the chef ensures

It is a daunting time when your loved one has to leave their home, even if it is temporary. The staff at Defoe Court Care Home have made my grandma and my family feel confident and reassured that my grandma is in very capable and very caring hands. Nothing is a problem and the whole atmosphere is bright
and cheerful. I honestly can't speak highly enough of the support that we have received as a family overall. My grandma has never entertained the idea of a nursing home but at present she is singing the home's praises and that brings me so much comfort. Please keep doing what you're doing as it works and thank you for everything you do.

As a family, it was a really difficult decision to place dad into a care home. The staff at Defoe Court Care Home really couldn’t have made this transition any easier for us. The care and support they have given to Dad (and us!) since he has been there has been outstanding and he has settled better
than we could have ever imagined. This is undoubtedly down to the friendly, committed staff and the caring ethos that underpins the core values of the home.

Just been to visit my mum again at Defoe Court. She’s been there for quite a few years now. I am still so pleased with the care that she is getting there. She loves it too. The staff there really put the 'care' into care home. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
