At the beginning, resident was awkward and difficult to deal with. As the resident has settled, I am now very happy with the care and carers. Yesterday for our 61st wedding anniversary, the staff had my wife bathed, hair done and ready to take out. Everyone concerned went over and above the care expected.
We are now pleased with care and would recommend this home to others.

My Father in Law got taken into hospital and since he came home his care has been second to none. Staff keep us updated on everything and encourage him in feeding and his fluid intake. Management have got him everything to make him safe and comfortable.

I always receive the greatest welcome when I come to visit.
Everyone, in my opinion, are fantastic people, very helpful day or night. As I have been a carer "you need to be very patient and pleasant" which everyone I have met here has been. I would recommend Defoe Court with pride, it's a home from

The care given to my mother is always of the best quality. Meals seem to be well varied in type and well presented. The staff are always friendly and professional in their dealing with clients and visitors. They always have time and talk to reassure clients and their family when problems arise.

My aunt is a resident at Defoe and has been for two years. I can say from the bottom of my heart that my aunt is loved and cared for with compassion, dignity respect and kindness. The home and the care it provides is outstanding. From the minute I walk in and see the lovely garden and hear the music

I am a resident at Defoe Court. I just love everything about it. The staff and manager are just out of this world all the gardens have never looked so good. I haven't seen my sister in two years, the manager is making arrangments that so we can be together. I am very grateful.

After suffering a stroke in January 2015 I found myself not being able to cope at home. After taking some respite at Defoe Court I have regained some self-worth and pride in myself and the staff can't do enough to help you. I am now feeling better physically and mentally and once again leading a healthy

My wife passed away while in Defoe Court. She was looked after with care and compassion. I continue to visit the home to see the staff, residents and relatives. I am welcomed with open arms each visit. The home is beautiful and the gardens are looking fantastic. This home is my family, I look forward
to visiting.
I am treated with kindness and everyone is always wanting to talk. No one is ever too busy to spend time with me. Even the manager continues to make time for a kiss and a cuddle.

I would like to say they are so good with my dad, caring, friendly, they have all helped him to recover well after his stroke. I couldn't of done it without them. Defoe Court is so warm and friendly to everyone in there and the place is always so clean and tidy no matter when I visit. He has everything

I was looking for a nursing home that could give mam paliative care and "TLC". I had no previous experience of Defoe Court but on arriving to look around I felt it was welcoming, bright, clean and "did not smell". Mam was discharged from hospital to Defoe Court and received excellent care for the short
time she was there. Everyone treated her with kindness and respect and helped us the family through a very difficult time. Thank you.

My mother was looked after really well at Defoe Court, the staff were friendly, caring and treated my mother with the respect she deserved. The home itself was clean and had a welcoming atmosphere, her room was kept clean and she was extremely comfortable. At all times she was treated with dignity and
respect and I would have no problem recommending the home to anyone thinking of using this facility.

My father is a resident in the above care home. He is a quiet, shy man who is reluctant to leave his room and socialise. He is becoming increasingly more dependant on the carers for his personal care. The newly appointed manager is ensuring that dad's needs are met with compassion and dignity. She is
always willing to listen to our concerns and act upon them. Along with her lovely team of carers, both male and female they try to make dads stay a home from home.

Staff offered the kindest of care not only to my gran but to my family as well.
My gran had undiagnosed dementia but that didn't stop staff putting any limitations on what she should or shouldn't do ... always encouraging her to remain independent and the lovely individual she was. Staff showed dignified
care in all they they did. The home was always a delight to come into, I was always greeted with a smile and asked if there was anything I need. My gran was in safe and friendly hands in the short time she spent there.

My mam and dad are both in Defoe Court. My dad was the first to enter the home and mam 2 years later. From day one they were welcomed, made to feel safe and secure. They are both happy and have their own rooms which they requested, eat their meals together and attend social functions frequently. The
staff are 1st class, they treat my parents with kindness, patience and dignity at all times, some of them go over and above their usual duties. They work as team, the nurses, cleaners, entertainment staff and cooks. When I visit they all greet me by my first name which again makes me feel welcome. The food is excellent and they always cook extra for example Birthday cakes and food with themes such as Easter or Christmas. I will always remember my mam saying to her great grandson two days after entering the home " how do you like my new home" that statement help me know she had settled.

After looking around the area we decided on Defoe Court for respite care for both my mam and dad. The quality of accommodation, care and nursing care, food and ethos of Defoe Court is excellent. My parents decided to stay as permanent residents. Unfortunately my dad illness progressed and he passed
away earlier this month. The care and support our whole family have received during this difficult time has been exceptional.

Both my parents went into Defoe Court for respite which became long term due to their high level of nursing needs. Dad had Parkinson's Disease in the advances stages and unfortunately passed away in March. The care staff and nursing staff along with catering and domestic staff provided a high level
and devoted standard of care. My dad was nursed with care, respect and dignity before, during and following his passing. During this stressful time my mother who was in the room next door was cared for with respect and dignity. We were provided with privacy as a family but the staff were always at hand offering genuine care and support to us both mentally and physically as a family. The staff continue to care for my mother meeting her needs (she has COPD) and attend to her needs and requirements. Staff keep the family informed of any changes and I know I am leaving her confidently in the kind, caring and trained hands of professionals.

When I was told mum had to go into a care home it completely broke me and scared the life out of me after hearing and seeing all these horrible things that go on in homes with the elderly. But I have to say Defoe Court is one big happy family. The staff are second to none, they always have a smile for
you and a Hello! They look after my mum with the utmost care, they treat her like a human being, giving her cuddles and talking to her when she feels low. Defoe Court always keep me informed of what's going on, and this is a fab service, these people take time to do this. My mum is a very independent woman, even though she's 93, and I never thought she would settle, but thanks to all the staff at Defoe Court she has. All the staff are very kind and do a brilliant job. I would recommend this nursing home 110% to everyone. Thank you Defoe for caring and looking after my mum.

We've visited our friend every week since he came to the home, we can only speak well of everyone concerned. He gets excellent care and along with the staff I have been made most welcome. Always a friendly smile with a cup of coffee and cake. We always say to people what a good home and recommend it.
