I am extremely overwhelmed by the care and support from Defoe, not only for the resident but also for friends and family. The emotional care and support alongside the physical care and support are outstanding. All staff work as an impeccable team - management included.

Highly recommend Defoe to any friends and family. The team is outstanding, working together and delivering the outstanding care they do every day. Also, management is outstanding and the care from even the management is unbelievable. I know my mother is well looked after and I don’t need to hesitate
to leave her if need be for a day because she will receive all the support and care she needs without us being there. Outstanding care home.

For the past year, my Mam and Dad have lived at Defoe and the care they received has been fantastic. The last two months have been very difficult with Mam being poorly and sadly she passed away the end of April. The staff went above and beyond not only providing amazing care to my Mam and Dad but also
looking after us as a family. The staff even came in on their days off to see Mam and this just highlighted how much they care and how they see residents as their own family.
I will be eternally grateful to all of the staff for everything they did for us all.

This care home feels like home.
It just feels normal, friendly, really good.
The staff are fantastic, nothing is a problem.
The whole atmosphere is like that of a family.

Lovely ethos, caring friendly passionate staff that go the extra mile to make my friend feel at home. Always welcomed with a smile and a hello every time I visit my friend, even get asked if I would like a cuppa! Very impressed with this care home and would definitely recommend Defoe to my relatives

We have just been recalling how well the home looked after my brother in law and his wife over Christmas.
Not only did they set up special seating and catering, they provided drinks!
Having experienced several care homes with other members of my family, this establishment is by far the best.

The past two years, my husband has been a permanent resident at Defoe Court Care Home at Newton Aycliffe, suffering with a debilitating illness. During that time we have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and all activities the home provides that stimulates the residents and contributes to their well
being. The home is kept clean, well decorated with fresh bedding and clothes for the residents every day.
I am made welcome and enjoy my visits with my husband and all the staff who are extremely busy but still find the time to do excellent work.

Mum has only been in the home for almost two weeks and is settling in better than we hoped for as she is being so well cared for by the wonderful staff. It was a very difficult decision for mum to leave her home but after a series of falls at home, thankfully no serious injuries sustained, the family
and mum knew alternative care was required to keep her safe. The Home Manager and her dedicated team have made mum and the family feel very welcome and have made a difficult time much easier to cope with. We know it is early days and mum still has to adjust to the move but we feel confident the care and attention she is receiving will help greatly with the transition.

Dad loves Defoe Court. 'It's like a five-star hotel with extra perks (nursing care),' he said. I was very worried about putting him in a care home, as he had been totally independent up to 98 years of age.
However, having broken his shoulder, following a fall, I had no choice because the only thing
he could do unaided was feed himself.
Having been visiting a dear friend in Defoe Court, for a number of months, we had no hesitation when a room became available. My husband and I can't praise it highly enough.

My grandad moved to Defoe Court Care Home recently from another care home, after a negative experience in another care home, myself and my family were apprehensive. From day one of my grandad moving into Defoe Court the staff were friendly and welcoming and treated myself and every member of my family
with kindness and compassion. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff at Defoe Court they go above and beyond our expectation every day in regards to my Grandad and ourselves as a family. It was a really difficult decision choosing to move my grandad whom after a stroke required nursing care 24/7, But his move to Defoe Court is something that has warmed us greatly. As a family now we know we can settle knowing that he is receiving the best possible care that he deserves. The home manager has made us feel welcome and is a fabulous individual whom I could not recommend enough; A woman with incredible knowledge who has taken the time to personally make sure my grandad is welcome.
