My sister was in this home until she died last year, I still go in to visit other friends there regularly. It's a really nice home, they recently won an award for their standard of care and that is well deserved. All the staff are very nice, some of the staff have been there a very long time, that says
a lot. All the residents are very happy and content.

I visit mum four times a week, if I'm on holiday I go every day but there is always a member of the family visiting each day. Obviously, we discuss her wellbeing and we are all very happy with all the care she receives at Lothian House.
It's peace of mind when we are all working, knowing she is well
cared for. She enjoys the meals and choices they have every mealtime, so there is always something she will eat.
It's so clean and you always see staff cleaning the home.

I was a visitor to see my good lady at least twice a week for six years so I had a good relationship with the staff.
The cook even taught me to cook poached eggs in water.
Keep up the good work.

Although my mother has only been at Lothian House Care Home for a month, I am more than pleased with the care she is receiving. All the staff are very friendly and can not do enough to help both my mother and me with any requests we may have. Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending Lothian
House.

My mother has been a resident in Lothian House for more than 6 years, during this period of time we have had no cause for concern.
The standard of care, cleanliness and professionalism of the staff is excellent. I have recommended the care home to a friend whose mother became a resident. She too found
the place to be very good. It is so reassuring to know that your relative is so well cared for.
My mother feels at home in Lothian House. I can't speak highly enough of the place.

Very good service from all staff, I always know my grandmother is cared for 24 hours, 7days a week.
Nothing is ever a bother, if we ever have any questions and we are always contacted if anything changes or anything we should know about.

Although mam has only been here a few weeks, the staff in the home helped us through a very difficult time and deserve credit for their professionalism and bedside manner, helping to get mam settled in her new surroundings. It would be impossible to find fault with anything, or anybody at the "home".
Keep the good work up, it means everything to our family, knowing that mam is being taken care of in every way. Thank you

All of the staff are very good at their work, treating patients with care and respect and nothing is a trouble. Everything about the home is of the highest quality, nothing can be faulted, the care is to the highest degree, therefore there is no need for any family worries at all. Well done.

My mother is both happy and comfortable at Lothian House Care Home which is a huge relief as we as a family now know she is safe and secure without the distress we feared would accompany her move from her home to a care facility. The staff are attentive and friendly and we feel confident in their standard
of care.

My grandmother has only been a permanent resident at Lothian for a short time but is very comfortable and content. Although a placement in a care home became a necessity for her own safety it meant a lot to the family that she was happy with the arrangement and we are confident in the care she is receiving.

The manager spoke to me on the telephone advising me about the home and everything I needed to know. From meeting the manager at the beginning of my husband's stay I have been very impressed with her and all the staff. The home is immaculate. Rooms are airy. I stayed for one meal with my husband which
was excellent. I must admit I could not find anything disagreeable. 100%

My partner's grandmother is in Lothian House Care Home and is very settled and happy there, she has made lots of new friends and loves the staff, the entertainment and the food. We looked at other homes before we came to look at Lothian House Care Home. The rest were not a patch on this home. We are
so happy and so is all the family :)

We brought grandma to Lothian House Care Home in May, since then grandma has loved her new home, the home is very clean and always smells nice. The staff are amazing and take such good care of grandma she is respected and always treated with kindness and dignity. Grandma says it's like she's in a five-star

After being temporarily in another care home, Lothian was like a "breath of fresh air". Staff from domestic to management are friendly, very helpful and all go that 'extra mile' building confidence with residents, family and visitors.

I would describe Lothian as being a 5* hotel for elderly residents.

We can now sleep well as a family, knowing that our mother is well cared for and safe.

On Friday March 11th 2016. My dear friend was taken into Lothian House after her doctor was unable to get any nurses to sit with her during the night. Social services tried for hours to find her somewhere and she arrived there about 7pm the care and support she received was excellent, my friend is 94
years old in September and has not been out of her flat whilst been poorly and was treated like they had known her for years, now she says if ever she has to go anywhere again could she go there.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.831)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.831) out of 10 for Lothian House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 52 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 50 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.831 for Lothian House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (564 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 621 Ratings = 4.831
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lothian House Care Home is based on 50 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 50 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
