I came into Lothian House for 3 weeks whilst my family went on holiday to China. When they came back, I didn't want to leave. I felt lonely at home, I really loved it here. I met new and old friends whom I haven't seen in years.


I have had 3 rooms and staff have been very helpful to ensure I'm safe

and retain my independence. I now have a room with a lovely view as I requested.

I am totally happy with the care my wife receives in Lothian House. The staff are fantastic, especially the deputy Manager. Nothing is ever a bother to her, nothing is too much trouble. She is great. I have spoken to the other staff also about her and they think she is great also. I would not wish my
wife to be anywhere else.

I am very happy with Mam's care. Staff are very friendly and polite when I visit. My Mam is happy with the food that is served, always plenty on offer. I would have no hesitation recommending Lothian House to anyone coming to Lothian House.

Staff are very helpful and if there are any problems I am always contacted by phone or told when I visit my Mam. The care home is nice and airy and has an outside decking area, making it great to sit outside in the sun. My Mam is safe and happy in this care home.

Lothian House is a very good care home and the care my mother has received has been excellent. The management and staff are extremely attentive and show every resident a high level of understanding and respect. Everyone is treated with utmost dignity and it really is a home from home.

My mother came to Lothian House to help her with her mobilty for short-term respite. Each day I have seen a massive improvement in all her care needs. The staff are very friendly, helpful. My mother states the meals, snacks were very nice and choices offered. The management were helpful and supportive.

Mam has been in the home for 12 years. The staff know our mam just as well as we do. We are very happy with the care mam receives, it is 100%.
Mam talks about how great the night staff are and say they are fantastic. Mam enjoys the food and has a variety of choices.

Excellent standard of care - my uncle is always treated with dignity and genuine care.
A great range of activities and trips are provided which is of great benefit to my uncle, who likes to keep as active as possible. The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for the residents, supported by

The home is warm, clean, welcoming and a very comfortable place for elderly residents to be kept safe with outstanding care.
The staff are exceptionally professional, kind and can't do enough for the residents and also for the relatives.
The attention to detail making sure we were well cared for during
the final stages of our relative's life was exemplary.

Having experienced two nursing/residential homes before moving my mother into Lothian House I was delighted and relieved to find such a caring home for my 105-year-old mum. Lothian House is perfect in every way, cleanliness is defiantly next to godliness. No matter what I ask of the staff, they always deliver. The food is exceptional. Nothing is too much for the staff I can even have a cup of tea at 3am if I wish to have a cup. The manager's door is always open.

My mother has been in the care home for about seven weeks now and during that time, she has received excellent care and attention from the staff. They are friendly, caring and carry out their work in a very professional manner.


My mother is always well-dressed, clean and presentable. She is encouraged

to join in afternoon activities and I think that this has helped her open up and feel she is part of the social group.


Her room is always clean and tidy. There is a varied menu for lunch and dinner, the food is good and the dining room is immaculate. Members of staff keep me informed about her progress and health and it gives me great peace of mind to know just how well she is being looked after in such a pleasant and safe environment.

Jill Barlow

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2004

“I believe that kind care means putting someone else’s needs before your own and making them feel special.”


Jill has gained over 20 years of experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at Lothian House for a number of years, Jill closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Lothian House.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Jill remarked: “I just love the satisfaction of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our Residents.”


Away from work, Jill enjoys weekends away with her partner and socialising with her friends and family.
