The staff are always helpful and caring. They are always having fundraising activities to help the people who live there. Surroundings are very light and pleasant and there is a good choice of menu. The staff encourage all residents to share in activities and always ready to talk to relatives about
the residents they are visiting. Overall a welcome atmosphere.

Very pleased with the care my mum receives. The staff are very caring and treat the residents with respect. There are regular activities to keep the residents occupied. Mam is very happy here and calls it home.

Lothian House is a friendly and kind place with hardworking people and a calm caring environment. I love that they have my mother singing which she loves and she is now part of a small 'choir' practising for Christmas - just as she did prior to coming to live here. I am very grateful.

We are very satisfied with Lothian House and would recommend to friends and family. The care our mum receives is good.
mum has been in for three years now and we are more than happy. The new visitor's toilet is very nice.

I would recommend Lothian House to anyone needing care facilities. The staff are wonderful, always considerate of both residents and visitors. The rooms are always clean and smell fresh. The activities and entertainment are engaging. We are very happy with all aspects of the home.

I have lived here for 10 months and I have been very pleased and contented. The carers are very good and do all they can to care for us. We get plenty of drinks and snacks and we also have lots of trips to the seaside and the country. Lots of variety.

Every time I have visited Lothian House Care Home you are always greeted with a warm welcome. The home is clean and always smells lovely. My in-law is treated with respect and dignity and is always treated as an individual.

The staff make every visit special. They make an effort to speak and ask if there is anything we need. My mother's room is always clean and staff are excellent with her, even in trying times.
Nothing is a problem to the staff and the food is excellent which I have sampled.

As a family, we have always been made to feel welcome we have always recommended Lothian House in the town to many friends - staff work very hard but are always friendly, stop to speak and inform me what is going on - bingo - parties etc.


It's always pleasant and clean - you can go along and make

yourself a cuppa - always well informed of any changes. My friend is often asked if she would like to go out on the bus. It really is a well run home and I am very happy my friend and many of my friends live in a lovely home as Lothian House. Meals are lovely!

My Grandma has lived here at Lothian House for nearly three months. The difference in her as a person is outstanding. She receives a very high standard of care and all the staff work very hard.
She is very happy here and as a family, we're all very impressed.
The cleanliness of the home is also at
a high standard. My grandma always smiles and tells me she enjoys the food.

My sister was in this home until she died last year, I still go in to visit other friends there regularly. It's a really nice home, they recently won an award for their standard of care and that is well deserved. All the staff are very nice, some of the staff have been there a very long time, that says
a lot. All the residents are very happy and content.

I visit mum four times a week, if I'm on holiday I go every day but there is always a member of the family visiting each day. Obviously, we discuss her wellbeing and we are all very happy with all the care she receives at Lothian House.
It's peace of mind when we are all working, knowing she is well
cared for. She enjoys the meals and choices they have every mealtime, so there is always something she will eat.
It's so clean and you always see staff cleaning the home.

Jill Barlow

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2004

“I believe that kind care means putting someone else’s needs before your own and making them feel special.”


Jill has gained over 20 years of experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at Lothian House for a number of years, Jill closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Lothian House.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Jill remarked: “I just love the satisfaction of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our Residents.”


Away from work, Jill enjoys weekends away with her partner and socialising with her friends and family.
