I have no complaints about how my mum is looked after in Lothian House. All the staff are wonderful with her. She sometimes just wants to stay in her room which is fine but I do know that the staff still continue to pop in and check on her which is reassuring

I can't complain about my father's care the carers are outstanding and very understanding he is upstairs in lothium house and he is happy there he is always clean and very well fed anything you ask the carers are straight there to assist if they are busy they still make sure to assist you to help when they can my father loves to go in the lounge and sit with all residents and staff they either have chats or watch movies which he loves.
Dad is always well cared for, if any of us have any concerns we only have to ask and they will sort it out. He has lived here for 7 years and the staff have become family to him. We as a family are very happy with Lothian house

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear that you feel there was not enough staff working on our residential dementia community. I am also sorry to hear you felt there was no stimulation apart from watching Disney movies. We have looked into your concerns, and I can assure you our Dementia community does not work on only 2 staff. Our staffing levels are based upon the dependencies of the residents living in the home and are reviewed weekly or beforehand if needed. We have reviewed the rotas for the last two months and on no occasions has the home dropped below its agreed staffing levels. We have regular conversations with the staff team at the home, no one has reported not being able to take a break. Staff are encouraged to take regular breaks throughout shifts. We will continue to monitor this to ensure all staff are receiving their allocated breaks. The home does have its own designated housekeeping team; this does not mean they are the only staff who deal with the cleaning in the home. We work with a one team approach at Lothian House to ensure that we maintain the high standards for our residents who we care for. I am sorry you feel that the home has an “an out of sight out of mind” approach to our residents living with dementia. I can assure you this is not the case, and the home is very inclusive with all residents from across the home participating in activities together. If a resident does not wish to participate in the larger group activities, we have an offering of smaller group activities or one to one support. Residents are offered a wide range of activities from bingo, arts and crafts, games, quizzes, and lots more. During our monthly resident meetings residents and relatives are given the opportunity to feedback on the previous months offering activities and have input of the next month’s offering. The home has access to a minibus, and residents can regularly be seen going out in the local communities. The Home Manager would be more than happy to have a meeting with you to be able to go through the concerns you have mentioned in your review in more detail. If you feel this is something you would like, please contact the Home Manager to organise a meeting at a date and time that is convenient for you. Once again thank you for your review.
All the staff are amazing they do a fantastic job. I come here and feel at ease when I visit, the atmosphere is really good, the staff always helpful and smiling and so caring. They deserve a lot of credit for their hard work.

My husband moved to this establishment following our very careful and thought provoking search - the staff are empathetic, caring, brilliant in meeting the needs of my husbands and other residents. Always a welcome and a smile on their faces giving you a feeling of contentment in their ability to care and carry out all duties in a highly successful manner. Nutritional food is excellent and served in a clea happy dining room. Always someone to listen to me when I am feeling sad about his illness. Staff are very professional e.g. carers, cleaners, kitchen and laundry workers etc. I highly recommend this care home and have done this several times thank goodness for this establishment.

The staff were absolutely incredible, the comfort and care that my grandad received after he moved from hospital to the home was amazing. The support that my grandma received in feeling comfortable in the home during visiting was unbelievable. The home is an amazing place, made so by the staff.

Jill has gained over 20 years of experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.
Having worked at Lothian House for a number of years, Jill closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.
She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Lothian House.
When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Jill remarked: “I just love the satisfaction of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our Residents.”
Away from work, Jill enjoys weekends away with her partner and socialising with her friends and family.
