Mam came to Tenlands for end of life care.
All of the family were upset about putting Mam in a home, but we could not have put Mam in a nicer home.

Every member of staff does a fantastic job and all visitors are made to feel so welcome and made to feel at ease at this difficult time.

Tenlands Ferryhill is an outstanding care home. The staff are like family and treat loves ones accordingly giving peace of mind to families, especially for me as I live a distance away. I know that my father is treated with compassion, love and special care and dignity at all times. My father is happy and contented which is down to the fantastic care of the staff at all levels from management, care staff, housekeepers and cooks. Thank you to each and every one of you.

Having visited Tenlands for 8 months it is difficult to give an accurate assessment of the overall care given to residents. Staff have always been welcoming and helpful. The lounge area can be very noisy at times making conversation difficult.

Overall residents seem happy with the care given.

Great care and compassion shown during my Dad's recent illness.
Appreciate the levels of communication allowing us to act quickly and in the correct manner.

Thankfully the swift actions of the staff involved led to only a short hospital stay and a speedy recovery.

Mam saw out her final months in Tenlands Care Home and all the staff were very helpful, kind and courteous always. Nothing was ever a trouble to any of them day or night. In mams final few days there was always two of us stayed overnight myself being one of them and through the day there were people in and out all the time and a trolley with tea's coffee, biscuits and sandwiches were outside the room 24/7. I could not praise everyone enough for all they did for mam and us.

Since my husband's admission we've had a lovely experience all round. A friend who visited commented on the friendly atmosphere. My husband recently took ill and the staff were most prompt in contacting us to make us aware; they were very diligent whilst we waited for an ambulance. Even after his admission to hospital they were helpful and concerned.

I was in Tenlands when he was brought home from hospital and I can only give praise for the way they welcomed and helped him.

I am always treated with dignity.

My relative came here from hospital as an interim discharge package. She has been admitted twice due to a relapse in her physical condition which required re-hospitalisation. Staff quickly detected changes in her condition at this time and actioned attention quickly. Her health has improved significantly with the care and attention she has received here. She has responded well to the kindness and encouragement she has received in the steps she is making towards recovery.

Visitors to Tenlands immediately see the respect and care from all the staff and help to their residents and vice versa.
The care and comfort of the residents is their first priority.
The home itself is impeccably clean and fresh and comfortable.
Under the leadership of a very kind, caring head the home system runs so smoothly.
The staff - not a very easy job, carried out without complaint.

Tenlands to me is of a very high standard.

I visited over the Xmas period regularly as Mam was ill. What a fabulous programme of activities open to all. Even those residents who don't come down often were assisted to take part.

I started my journey in care when I was 19 years old as a Care Assistant, and from the very beginning, I knew I had found something I was truly passionate about. Supporting people, building trusting relationships, and helping individuals feel safe, valued, and cared for has always been at the heart of everything I do.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to grow and develop within my career, progressing through roles including Senior Carer, Administrator, Residential Lead, Deputy Manager, and now Home Manager. Each role has shaped me both professionally and personally, and strengthened my belief in delivering care that is not only high-quality but also genuinely compassionate and person-centred.

I take great pride in leading teams to provide the best possible support for residents, ensuring their well-being, dignity, and independence are always prioritised. I also value supporting staff to grow in confidence and enjoy their roles, as I believe a happy, supported team creates the best outcomes for those we care for.

I am currently working towards my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, continuing to develop my skills and knowledge so I can keep making a positive difference every day.

These roles have allowed me to support and guide teams, while ensuring high standards of care are always maintained. I’m the Home Administrator at Tenlands Care Home, where I play a key role in ensuring the home runs efficiently, supporting both residents and staff while maintaining high standards of care. I’ve worked in care home administration since 2012, gaining experience across a variety of residential and dementia care settings, so it’s fair to say I’ve seen a bit of everything!

I hold a Level 4 NVQ in Business Leadership and Management and take pride in creating an organised, supportive environment for both residents and staff. Whether it’s solving problems, keeping things on track, or just being someone people can rely on, I enjoy being at the heart of the home’s day-to-day operations.

I was also proud to be shortlisted as a regional finalist in the Great British Care Awards, which was a real highlight and recognition of the work I’m so passionate about.
