We visit Tenlands once a month for an ecumenical service The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The residents seem happy and to have a good rapport with the staff. Fresh fruit is served along with Tea/coffee and biscuits for the residents. The mother of one of our group was cared for at Tenlands at the end of her life and the family spoke very highly and appreciatively of the standard of care and support.

Very good care home with caring and attentive staff. Activities are thoughtfully planned and participation by residents and family members are well received. Food and drink are to a good standard with plenty of variety. Hygiene and cleanliness are to a good standard but have had on one occasion to remind staff on personal hygiene issues for my mum. On the whole, happy with the care mum receives.

I have been a visitor for two and a half years. I have met carers who work so hard without complaining. I have met people who have given their time when they had none to spare!

I have met people who have become friends. I go home knowing my mother has the best care. For example, I was out for dinner and I heard someone talking about Tenlands they said they are looked after better than us at home!

From the moment we walked into the home, the staff made us feel so welcome. The care and compassion they showed not only to my Mum but to us as a family, was second to none. Although my Mum was only in the home for 3 weeks before she passed away, every member of staff was brilliant. The outstanding aware they have received is so very well deserved.

I started my journey in care when I was 19 years old as a Care Assistant, and from the very beginning, I knew I had found something I was truly passionate about. Supporting people, building trusting relationships, and helping individuals feel safe, valued, and cared for has always been at the heart of everything I do.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to grow and develop within my career, progressing through roles including Senior Carer, Administrator, Residential Lead, Deputy Manager, and now Home Manager. Each role has shaped me both professionally and personally, and strengthened my belief in delivering care that is not only high-quality but also genuinely compassionate and person-centred.

I take great pride in leading teams to provide the best possible support for residents, ensuring their well-being, dignity, and independence are always prioritised. I also value supporting staff to grow in confidence and enjoy their roles, as I believe a happy, supported team creates the best outcomes for those we care for.

I am currently working towards my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, continuing to develop my skills and knowledge so I can keep making a positive difference every day.

I’m the Home Administrator at Tenlands Care Home, where I play a key role in ensuring the home runs efficiently, supporting both residents and staff while maintaining high standards of care. I’ve worked in care home administration since 2012, gaining experience across a variety of residential and dementia care settings, so it’s fair to say I’ve seen a bit of everything!

I hold a Level 4 NVQ in Business Leadership and Management and take pride in creating an organised, supportive environment for both residents and staff. Whether it’s solving problems, keeping things on track, or just being someone people can rely on, I enjoy being at the heart of the home’s day-to-day operations.

I was also proud to be shortlisted as a regional finalist in the Great British Care Awards, which was a real highlight and recognition of the work I’m so passionate about.
