My Mum spent a few weeks at Lowgate between leaving the hospital and transferring to a residential home close to me in the Midlands. During that time I was extremely impressed with the quality of care given. The manager, deputy manager and all staff went out of their way to be helpful and make sure
my Mum's needs were catered for. They even provided a packed lunch and other extras for our long journey to her new home!

My aunt has been a resident for 9 months, throughout which time I have been impressed with her care and how engaged the staff are with all of the residents. She has developing medical needs which the team monitor and manage effectively. While my aunt's memory is fading, she is usually relaxed and bright
when I visit. The team have a great schedule of activities, especially over Christmas. A big thank you to everyone who works hard to make Lowgate such a good place to live.

All the staff are lovely, kind, caring and happy to help. Lowgate Nursing Home have ideal surroundings for people who have care needs and is all on one level, which allows freedom to move around the building and gardens, if able to do so. Lowgate Nursing Home has a lovely homely feel.

Lowgate Nursing Home has taken care of my father for quite a time. The staff are caring and attentive. They seem to specialise in the personal touch and are always easy to approach and know all of their residents day to day. The home is warm and friendly and all the resident's needs are met.
The staff
are friendly and civil. The home is attractive to the eye both inside and out. They ensure that the residents' health is attended to when needed. They will inform relatives if any problems arise. Resident's rooms are cosy and personal effects are permitted. Resident's requirements and history are displayed in their rooms so that visitors, as well as staff alike, are informed without the unnecessary checking on records.
We are always met with a smile by staff when we visit.

All the staff display a very friendly nature and are very professional. Meals are prepared and served with passion and always look delicious and my mother particularly enjoys the Sunday Roasts. I have only one concern which is my mother sometimes not always has urine saturated garments which upsets
her. I do bring this to the attention of the carers who do come and tend to her.

My aunt is treated with dignity and respect. She has been in residence at Lowgate for almost 2 years as an Alzheimer resident and although at first she was unsettled at times, remembering days when she lived alone in her own little cottage, she felt well looked after. In recent months, she refers to
Lowgate as her home and refers to her fellow residents as her friends. My aunt has mobility problems and prior to and during her residence, is prone to falling. Every effort is made to reduce this and on the occasional time she has had a mishap, we are contacted by phone immediately even if she has suffered no consequences from the mishap. This is important to us as it gives us peace of mind.
When I visit, all staff are welcoming and I am made to feel at home at all times. The nursing staff and caring team are dedicated to their role and show kindness and patience to everyone, particularly those who have just arrived and find the change challenging and confusing. The home is kept clean and tidy.

My mum was in Lowgate and not only did she enjoy it but also felt safe. For her family to know she felt safe was very reassuring. The staff are great, the food good and care very good. The night my mum passed away her family were looked after by the staff even when they had plenty to do. Thank you for
your care and I know my mum would say the same. Good luck in the future.

As an NHS employee, I was well informed about the care homes in our locality and this is the one I wanted for my parents. Whilst the building has been smartened up, it is the staff who make Lowgate. Whilst almost all the staff are good from the management team, kitchen staff, trained nurses and carers,
the team ethos and the caring element are at its forefront. Special mention must be made of the activities coordinator, who goes above and beyond the job remit. The only improvement would be to increase the staff : client ratio.

Lowgate have cared for my Mum who had advanced stage dementia for the last 2 years until her death in July. She needed everything doing for her and the staff always treated her with respect and dignity. They always made the time to let me know how Mum was doing and answered any questions I had.

My father is resident at Lowgate since 2009/2010. The care he has received has been excellent, from the care staff, nurses and management. He is so well-loved by all. The care my father has and is still receiving is so excellent. They all go above and beyond the care he receives, you are made to feel
as relaxed and at ease fro the time we arrive until we leave.
When my father has deteriorated, they are very quick to respond even to the point of ringing us to make us aware of what is happening.

My mother was a resident at Lowgate first for respite care and more recently as a long-term resident. She recently died after a long period of declining health and I have nothing but praise for the staff at Lowgate. They provided expert nursing care, always empathetic and kind, both to mum and to us

My husband died at Lowgate in February and my family and I were overwhelmed by the kindness of the staff. during his short stay there, every single member of the staff spoke to us in the friendliest manner.


My husband had become totally helpless and depended on others for his every need, but he was

always treated promptly and respectfully The manager has every reason to be extremely proud of the staff she has assembled.

This is a truly excellent home. The staff are so helpful, loving and caring, it really is a care home with a capital C.
All staff work as a team regardless of their station (domestic, carer, senior carer, nurse) and even the manager, herself a qualified nurse, joins in to assist residents.
My wife
had dementia (Alzheimer's) and was admitted to the home in January 2014.
In the last 6 months she was confined to bed, but the carers and nurses were brilliant with her, making sure she was clean and well nourished.
She died in their care in January 2017.
