My mother has been a resident at this care home for over two years. Sadly, she passed away this morning. She has always been cared for wonderfully during her time in the home. I've always been kept informed of her condition, any issues discussed with the family, however, during the past week, the staff,
without exception, have been outstanding. Their dedication and compassion, both to her and myself, have been overwhelming at this sad time.

My mam was in here for six and a half years and was well looked after. I was always happy to visit, her room felt like her home.
It was clear during her last month how well cared for she was during her whole stay. Staff genuinely helped and looked our for her.

My family and I would like to thank all the staff at Chester Court for looking after my sister. They have done a brilliant job of caring for her, and she was the happiest we have seen her. The manager and her staff are amazing and very welcoming we would recommend this care home to anyone for its caring
service. It is a home-from-home. Sadly we lost her on 25th Feb 2024. Thank you everyone at Chester Court for their compassion and support.

My wife is very happy and contented every time I visit and I put this down to the good care she receives in the home. The staff could not be any more caring and attentive. Any questions or concerns I have are always seen straight away, although I am always kept up to date on all aspects of my wife's
care.

When you come into the grounds it makes a good impression and this continues on entering the building. The staff are so friendly and helpful and Mum is treated and looked after as I hoped she would be. The cleanliness and food are excellent and the nurses are always on hand if any questions need answering.
The manager always has a smile and a word and is very approachable. I would recommend Chester Court to anyone looking for a care home.

My mam spent the last few weeks of her life at Chester Court Care Home. She was 91 and had been the most independent lady until she took ill a month earlier. She was so depressed, to the point she didn't want to live. Your whole team showed her much love and kindness, so much care.
She took a turn
for the worst a week ago and was no longer responsive. We expected her to pass that night but she lived 6 further days. Those days were pure hell for us, she was incontinent but all staff cleaned her immediately, turning her often and coming in often to care for her and us. I spent the last week with her, and my sister, taking turns sitting with her. On the night of her death, I was alone with her but the staff took so much time with me, making sure I was OK. 3 am I knew she was going to pass soon. I held her hand and she passed 3.20 am. One member of staff, in particular, was absolutely amazing. So much empathy and care, letting me stay with her, telling me what happens next. You helped me so much and I will be eternally grateful. Thank you.
Reply from Laura Tindle, General Manager at Barchester Chester Court Care HomeThank you for your very kind review and again our sincerest condolences for your loss. Your mum was only with us here at Chester Court for a short time but she will be missed by all. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding our home and team, who work hard to deliver high-quality person-centred care to both residents and their loved ones. I will pass on your feedback to the team. Kind regards.

Mum was admitted to Chester Court for end of life care. She was 98 years old and stayed there till she died 9 days later. I was there with her during that time staying the last seven days both day and night. The care and love that mum received from all of the team were outstanding. The staff showed
great compassion and could not do enough to make mum comfortable. She was extremely well looked after. As for myself, the support I received was outstanding. All the team helped me through a very difficult time and looked after me, making sure I was fed and comfortable at night. There was always someone to confide in as I did not live in the area or have relations at hand to help me supporting mum. I felt that the whole team at Chester Court were doing an excellent job.
I must say a big thank you to all the team.

Our family have experienced the care home and staff since September 2021. My uncle has been settled since the outset and made to feel that it was a "home from home". As his needs increased, this was dealt with both professionally and with care. His end-of-life care has been exemplary, and I have not
needed to worry that he would be looked after with care and compassion. Many thanks to "all" the staff for the parts they play.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.733)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.733) out of 10 for Barchester Chester Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.733 for Barchester Chester Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (194 Excellents x 5) + (56 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 255 Ratings = 4.733
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Chester Court Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Maintenance Manager Joined: 2011

I have worked at Chester Court since 2011 and have loved every minute. I spent 15 years in the building trade before coming to Chester Court Care Home, so I have a wide range of skills that are always being used.

My job is to keep the home and grounds looking their best, making sure each room is as individual as the residents themselves.

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping Joined: 2023

My name is Susan Dunn, and I am the Head Housekeeper here at Chester Court. I have been in this role since August 2023. Before moving to Chester Court, I worked as a housekeeper in care homes since 2017.

I have always worked in cleaning, but I enjoy working in care homes more than previous jobs. I love chatting to the residents and also keeping their homes clean and tidy. My main priority is making sure the resident's home is as clean as I like my home.
