Our care fees for self-funded and local authority funded residents are subject to a preadmission needs assessment which is a requirement of admission, so the Home can fully understand the level of care and support required by each individual. The prices quoted are weekly and for guidance only. They will be confirmed following a full assessment. Respite care may be offered and is usually 10% above the permanent care fees, subject to availability and will depend on an assessment of a person’s care needs.

My mam became a resident in September 2018 as a transfer from hospital for palliative care. Within a short time, we could see a marked improvement in her condition, no longer bedridden and beginning to show an interest in life again. This was purely down to the excellent care, compassion and patience
shown by everyone looking after her. Mam even began to enjoy the varied activities, entertainment and especially the trips out in the minibus.
Sadly she passed away on 2 August, peacefully with family by her side.
It gives us great comfort to know that mam received the best care possible from all the staff, without exception she was treated with dignity to the end.
Our sincere thanks go to all who not only looked after mam but also us, her family when we needed it most, we will always be grateful.

Both my parents were residents at Scarborough Court. During their time together, they were treated with great respect, humility and understanding. However, my father passed away and the staff have shown all the compassion my mother could have wished for during this difficult time.

My mother was not responding to the medication prescribed and her GP asked me to agree to her being given palliative care only. The staff moved her bed so as to allow them to observe her more readily and to allow her to see people passing her room. As mam became more frail the staff contacted me at
home or on regular visits to update me of her condition. In her last days she was accompanied by a member of staff for most of the time and on her final day carers were present when we were not so she was never alone. I feel the care and attention given to my mother could not have been bettered and a very sad occasion was made more bearable with the selfless attitude of all at Scarborough Court.

The carers are having some issues with my mother when asking her to bathe. Also, with there being changes in staff and a lot of staff are young, she is confused as to who the people are coming into her room. A suggestion is that her carers wear a uniform top as she might recognise them as being of an
official capacity. As she sometimes thinks she is back in her own bungalow, she is wondering who these people are.

We have a non-uniform system in the Home but all staff wear badges and we ensure that the staff that work within our residential household are consistent so that our residents do become familiar with them. We are going to have photos of our staff so that residents and their families are able to recognise the team members.

Since moving into Scarborough Court my mum has been given excellent care. The staff have treated her with respect and dignity. They have made her feel welcome from the minute she arrived. She has thrived and I haven't seen her looking so happy in a very long time. They have also helped both myself and
sister through a hard time, making us feel welcome and at ease.

This home provides all that is required and more for the residents be they compos mentis or suffering from dementia. The home is overseen by a good management team which in turn are overseen by Freemasonry. The team and the RMBI ensure a smooth running and well run care home.

During December my Mother was very poorly with a nasty chest infection. My Mother is in her late 90's and we are very close. As she was so unwell I arrived early each morning and stayed until late at night even though I mostly could simply be with her. The staff were exceptionally kind and understanding.
They listened to my concerns and were quick to call for medical help whenever my Mum's health deteriorated. I commend them for the care of both my Mum and myself.

Scarbrough Court is ok as far as care homes go. There are good staff there but a shortage of volunteers eg., to drive the bus for outings for residents is a continual challenge.
Although staff are very caring and friendly they do not absorb message from friends and relatives to help in the life of
the residents, for example, they leave my aunt in a wheelchair all day when what she asks for is time in an armchair/sitting in bed an continue to talk to when she is stone deaf.

We are hoping to recruit some volunteers to support with the driving of the minibus, however, all drivers must undertake specialist 3-day training course to ensure the safety, health and well-being of our residents at all times.

Welcoming atmosphere. Staff work hard and kept busy, unable to give proper marking on food as resident in question is on special diet which is strictly adhered to. Medical assistance always on hand and appears to have good relationship with local surgeries and hospital. Not home obviously, but as near
as possible to this in the unfortunate circumstances residents find themselves in.
