My dad moved into Scarbrough Court in March 2021 amid the COVID chaos, and so far, he is enjoying living there. All the staff I have dealt with have been really nice - very pleasant and really helpful (especially reception), and Dad has nothing but complimentary things to say about all the staff he has come into contact with. The home itself always looks very clean, presentable and welcoming. Dad loves the way the staff are always popping into his room to see how he is or to see if he would like a cuppa - this is a very nice touch. It's still early days for Dad, but so far, things have gone very well, and the staff were great in helping Dad's move go so smoothly. I would recommend anyone going to have a look around Scarbrough Court and seeing how nice it is if considering this for their loved one. Dad is also full of praise for the activities coordinator, and he is always saying she is such a hard worker!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments; they are much appreciated by all, and I will definitely pass them onto the staff.
Dad has settled in so well to Scarbrough Court, making new friends and catching up with old friends.

Dad also always takes the time to talk to the staffing team when he's passing by.

Outstanding care home. I've been in a few with my late father and friends mother - very good indeed. The manager does not suffer fools easy, so the staff do an outstanding job. Runs like clockwork. The older ones get looked after, not just left in their rooms all day, plus they get changed when they have accidents, not just left in their own mess for hours like some homes. The food is very good indeed too. Well, the best place by far to send your older one; they get looked after, alot less stress on the mind. I was very surprised by the level of care that my mother gets - when I get old, I'd book myself in as well. A very good home - one of the best - 5-stars.

My mother has never looked better for some time; the staff, activities and care are very positive, mentally stimulating and tailored to facilitate the needs of the individual. Feedback from my mum is that all staff are good with her, food and meals are good (they must be as we've had to buy her some larger trousers), and there are lots of activities to keep her stimulated. Unfortunately due to Covid, I believe trips out in the bus are not able to go ahead, however, will resume ASAP.

Unfortunately, Mum hasn't completely settled in, as we are unable to take her personal stuff into her room and place it as she would have at home, as soon as we are able to do this, I think she'll be very happy in Scarbrough Court.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. Mum has definitely settled into life at Scarbrough Court; she has made so many friends and takes part in all activities and is quite a socialiser!

We are hoping to commence with trips out again fairly soon.

It is difficult to comment accurately due to the Covid situation as visiting was somewhat restricted. The situation was and still is conducted in a very professional way. I have constantly used the video link provided by the home, and it has become a vital contact for me. The staff handled the calls in an excellent way on every occasion. I have had no problems with the home at all over the years that my wife has been a resident there.

My mum was placed in Scarborough Court after a short spell in hospital. The staff have been amazing at these difficult times. Because of Covid, I have been unable to go in and visit Mum, and as she has dementia, it has been very difficult for her to understand. The care Mum has received while in Scarborough Court has been wonderful; my mum is very happy there and always looks comfortable and clean. Mum struggles to eat, so they provide pureed food for her, and when she’s not feeling well, the girls will sit and feed her. At Christmas and her birthday, the staff went above and beyond to make her day special, and even sent videos so I didn’t feel like I was missing out. It’s nice to know that she is safe, cared for and comfortable. I’ve been able to visit Mum in the pod and also go in and visit her after I’ve been tested with a rapid test. And hopefully, when things ease up, I’ll be able to go in and visit more often. Everything is done very professionally. Can’t thank them enough.

My father-in-law moved into the Nursing Wing of Scarbrough Court in early January 2021. It was a stressful time for all concerned, in particular, for my father-in-law. Our fears were certainly allayed shortly after speaking with the absolutely brilliant staff and nurses. And what is one of the most noticeable attributes of the Scarbrough team is that they obviously care, which is so important when you are placing a family member into their hands. The team have made it possible for us to have regular video calls with my father-in-law, which has been so comforting for us all. My partner and I are in contact with the staff regularly, to the extent that we are now all on first-name terms - which makes it feel like an extended family! They continually keep us updated with his well-being. I truly wish I could mention the staff members by name because they have been fantastic, and are equally professional and caring. The afternoon tea and cake goes down a treat too. Thank you so much!

My auntie asked to come here for end of life care, due to the excellent care and attention of my grandma a year ago, for palliative care. The same caring and amazing staff that looked after my grandma. Due to COVID we had to have window visits till near the end, but always got updates and communication off the home.
A big thank you to the management for allowing me access to sit and comfort my auntie in the last few days of her life. I can’t thank the home enough for allowing me that time with her.
I personally would recommend this home for your family members as they’d be treated with utmost care and respect.

The staff are outstanding.

The care my husband received at Scarbrough Court, Cramlington in the last months of his life was outstanding. He was given expert nursing care, which was carried out with great attention paid to his comfort and well being. The nursing staff went to great lengths to adhere to the emergency nursing plan I had asked for and ensured my husband did not suffer pain or discomfort. There was always a tea tray to help calm and soothe the family during this difficult time, yet this care was never intrusive. The welcome and friendliness of every member of staff was so appreciated, in those last days of my husband’s life. It was professional and empathetic. We appreciate that during the unforeseeable events of this year, everyone at Scarbrough Court, without exclusion, maintained the highest of standards for those in their care. It goes beyond training; it shows personal qualities of vocation and kindness.

My mam became a resident in September 2018 as a transfer from hospital for palliative care. Within a short time, we could see a marked improvement in her condition, no longer bedridden and beginning to show an interest in life again. This was purely down to the excellent care, compassion and patience shown by everyone looking after her. Mam even began to enjoy the varied activities, entertainment and especially the trips out in the minibus.
Sadly she passed away on 2 August, peacefully with family by her side.
It gives us great comfort to know that mam received the best care possible from all the staff, without exception she was treated with dignity to the end.

Our sincere thanks go to all who not only looked after mam but also us, her family when we needed it most, we will always be grateful.

Hello to all the lovely staff at Scarborough Court who all work so hard to ensure the residents are well cared for and happy. You are a fab team, so friendly, welcoming, kind and caring towards my mam, other residents and myself when I visit. During these difficult times, I know you are all continuing with all the amazing work you do. Staying in touch via video calls have been great; so a huge thanks for that. Take care, look after each other and stay safe.

My mother was not responding to the medication prescribed and her GP asked me to agree to her being given palliative care only. The staff moved her bed so as to allow them to observe her more readily and to allow her to see people passing her room. As mam became more frail the staff contacted me at home or on regular visits to update me of her condition. In her last days she was accompanied by a member of staff for most of the time and on her final day carers were present when we were not so she was never alone. I feel the care and attention given to my mother could not have been bettered and a very sad occasion was made more bearable with the selfless attitude of all at Scarborough Court.

The carers are having some issues with my mother when asking her to bathe. Also, with there being changes in staff and a lot of staff are young, she is confused as to who the people are coming into her room. A suggestion is that her carers wear a uniform top as she might recognise them as being of an official capacity. As she sometimes thinks she is back in her own bungalow, she is wondering who these people are.

Reply from Chiao Kwan, Marketing & Communications Officer at Scarbrough Court
