My father came into the home in a grief-stricken distressed state. Within a short time, he settled and loved the family feel of the environment. The home is clean, bright and friendly, the staff are brilliant and caring.
The food is lovely and my Dad was well fed. He was kept clean and tidy and his room was too. He loved the outings and all the activities they put on.

I cannot thank everyone for making my dad happy again.

I have been visiting my husband several times a week for nearly a year and in that time I have always found him well cared for and settled. Although unable to express his feelings easily it is obvious from his eagerness to visit the dining room that he enjoys the good food. This stimulation is helped by the many activities and pleasant, helpful staff.

The home always comes across as well run, with caring, committed staff, who show they are interested in the needs of the residents and considerate to family members also. The Business Administrator was so helpful in assisting, with the application process for my Mother to be allocated a place. The nursing staff have kept me informed of any concerns during her stay so far, and are always approachable. The staff caring for my mother, have also been keen to go the extra mile and do whatever they can to help.

When I first considered Scarbrough Court for my mum I was in a troubled state. I had lost my wife after a long illness and mum had been in the hospital for months and now needed nursing care.As soon as I walked into Scarbrough Court I knew that this was the best place for mum.

The building was light and airy, cleaners were busy in the reception area and the place was spotless. I moved mum in straight away.

Mum has always been well looked after. Your staff have befriended me also and always make me welcome. Management set the tone for the organisation and Scarbrough Court has an excellent manager.

This is the first time I have been as I live in Essex and my mother has only been in the home for a few weeks. My first impression was on entering a very good one. It was immaculately clean and had a homely feel about it. No nasty smells either! I went back the following day for the Christmas fair and everyone there all seemed to be happy. The staff looking after my mother were friendly caring and treat my mother with dignity.

This relates to the last few weeks of my mother's life. I was most impressed and comforted by the very high standards of love and care given to my mother as she faded away suffering from frailty and dementia. Speaking to various staff it was obvious they were well trained and very committed to ensuring dignity and tranquillity.

I always find Reception staff, carers and shift managers polite, friendly and very helpful if I have any queries. I am very confident that the staff know my aunt very well as an individual and are able to deal competently with any issues which may arise as a result of her particular dementia condition.

As an ex-firefighter, I've seen lots of care homes and Scarbrough Court is the best by far. I have no concerns at all about the care my father, who is 96yrs, is receiving.
All the pressure and worry my brother and I previously had has been completely lifted.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and management for all their help.

RE: safety/security rating below - safety is excellent, some security issues were previously raised but they have been addressed.

Scarbrough Court is always well presented, clean and tidy. Care staff are friendly, helpful and approachable, though their presence is not always immediately evident apart from key times (meals/medication). this may be due to the layout of the building and for the high demands of a busy unit.
Sometimes lack of attention to finer issues such as hairstyling, nail hygiene, hearing aid, though Mam is always otherwise impeccably clean.
Reception staff and management were exceptional in response to my request an outing at same day notice, much appreciated.
Wide and varied activities, though unsure how much Mam can access due to physical limitations.
Mam often praises the staff, adding that some have less patience than others while bathing and dressing her.

Overall the family is very happy with Mam's care.

My Mum was a resident at Scarbrough Court for several years and I have only the highest of praise for the Staff, Management and Facilities at this home. She was always treated with respect and the standard of care was second to none. The Staff really cared about the residents and went far beyond the level of care expected. They went out of their way to ensure that I was fully informed of my Mum's condition and had all the information about her ongoing care. In addition, they are all really nice people. The home was always a happy and caring environment and staff and management were always willing to cater to any requests and address any concerns that were made. The facilities were always maintained to the highest standards and were continuously being updated. We looked at many homes before choosing Scarbrough court and it's safe to say that it was head and shoulders above the rest.

I am over the moon with this home. It was always good, but standards fell when the manager left, who was there when mum first went in. The new manager has made this home better than before. She has pushed to make it more personal and happier place. The activities are excellent and residents secure and dignity is high on the agenda. Some of the changes I was concerned about proved to be of no concern as this home is now a great place and I am thankful mum is here.

Looks lovely, not happy with the overall care. Half an hour wait for a toilet call, dad in bed for 15 hours, residents wandering in and out of rooms, staff ignoring a resident dragging a deck chair through the hall.

Often short of staff so residents have to eat in bedrooms with no suitable table.

Reply from Kristin Mewald, Marketing & Communications Officer at Scarbrough Court
We have discussed the relative’s concerns with her and the resident. Due to a current investigation regarding the resident’s behaviour towards other residents, we perceive the above complaints as unreasonable and will be in further talks with the relative to solve the matter.

We wish to make it...

I reluctantly entered this care home, but found not what I thought. A very comfortable home with plenty of activities, very good food, good care all round and a happy, helpful atmosphere.
