My father has been in Barchester Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home since November 2018. I cannot fault the standard of care he has had since his admission. The staff are wonderful, professional and caring and the facilities are excellent. The rooms are large and the furnishings are modern and of a high standard. My father is extremely happy here. The food is excellent with plenty of choice and the activities are plentiful and there is a real sense of community.

I just want to thank all the amazing staff who looked after my grandfather at Hafan Y Coed. The care and love they gave him was amazing. He was so well looked after. The whole team are heroes in my view. Everyone is so friendly, whether they are cleaners, carers, nurses and kitchen staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble for anyone. The support everyone gave my family right up to the end made the last few days far more bearable. Thank you all !!

Overall Experience

My dad has been a resident here for just over a year and I am very happy with the care he receives. My dad was immobile, non-compliant with his medication and needed encouragement to eat and drink, after a lengthy stay in hospital he wasn't in very good health generally as well as suffering from dementia. The care, attention, respect and compassion the staff show to dad is very reassuring. I like the fact that dad is always wearing his own clothes (which wasn't always the case in a previous home) and he is always clean and tidy. My dad is also unable to verbally communicate with staff but they have made a massive effort to get to know him and can now read his facial expressions and dad is now mobile, eating well and takes his medication with little fuss most of the time. Seeing someone you love with dementia is devastating and the care my dad receives is brilliant and he is contented and happy the majority of the time and I know my dad is being well looked after. Thank you so much to all the staff.

When it was decided that my father should go into a care home, we weren't happy as we had so many preconceived ideas about care homes. We couldn't have been more surprised. The staff were absolutely wonderful. They treated my father and we as a family as if they'd known us for decades. My father was at a difficult stage in his illness but the staff were so welcoming, kind and understanding, we were overwhelmed by them all. Sadly, he wasn't able to take advantage of the fantastic food and all the activities on offer but they deserve a special mention and shouldn't be underestimated. Thank you all, so very much. I would highly recommend Hafan-Y-Coed.

Although my husband was comparatively only a resident for approx 4 and a half months he had the best of care. His carers were kind, friendly, courteous and caring. My husband did not settle to his environment very well as he clearly missed his home life. As the situation was not of our choosing, early days were quite difficult; not only did the staff care for him but they also took care of me.

The genuine warm welcome we received at Hafan Y Coed when we came to look around for a placement for my father was second to none. We were offered coffee and shown around the home by the Deputy Manager. He spoke so enthusiastically about the home and all the residents he spoke to reacted warmly to him. There was a delay in dad coming into the home but the manager was fantastic at keeping the family updated. He has settled in so well and the care he is receiving at the home is fantastic. Everyone smiles and nothing is too much for them. We looked at so many homes in the area and nothing compares to Hafan Y Coed.

We were made to feel very welcome on arrival as I arrived by ambulance after being in hospital for 9 weeks. The management arranged for us to have lunch, which we thought is a very kind act as we had been delayed.
