Both my mother and stepfather received exceptional care during their time in the home. The staff are professional, friendly and caring and kept family informed throughout the stay.
The only slight criticism was the age and condition of the building but this is now being addressed through the improvements
and the new rooms are bright and welcoming. I would recommend this home to any family looking for care for their loved ones.

The standard of care my grandparents received at Plas y Dderwen was excellent. As a relative who was unable to visit the home regularly, it gave me great peace-of-mind to know that they were in such safe, kind hands. When I did visit, I felt welcomed and was touched to find that I was cared for too;
despite being very busy, the staff always had time to talk, build relationships and provide reassurance. Their ability to provide 'the personal touch' to both residents and visitors was not only impressive but also hugely comforting.
In conversation, managers expressed a wish to refurbish and update the rooms and facilities at Plas y Dderwen, and this process was (and is, at the time of writing) underway. I am certain that, once finished, the quality of the premises - which was already very good - will improve to match the impeccable standard of the pastoral and medical care.
Across all roles, the staff at Plas y Dderwen were friendly, conscientious, responsive and professional. I really can't thank them enough for doing so much for my grandparents during their final months. I would recommend Plas y Dderwen to others without hesitation.

All the staff at Plas-y-dderwen showed my father in law care and compassion as he struggled with ill-health and dementia.
They looked after us, as his closest family and helped us navigate the final year of his life.

Plas y Dderwen was a perfect home for mum for a period of respite.As mum suffers from claustrophobia the lovely wide corridors large lounge and canteen together with a spacious bedroom all assisted in making her stay very comfortable.
All the staff I.e.the Manager the Admin staff the Care workers
and the Activity staff were always helpful friendly and kind and mum made acquaintances with other residents during her stay and she had a very happy demeanor whilst she was there.
It made me feel quite relaxed too.

Moving my friend to Plas has been one of the best things of the last year. Such a relief to leave him in such capable, loving hands. Staff have gone above to help him to settle in, feel welcome and begin to enjoy this last chapter of his life.
It has been a breath of fresh air to see staff so warm
and friendly, kind and generous with their time.
The food is great, the activities are fun and engaging and the provision for friends and family is really thoughtful too.
Meal times are lovely experiences - relaxed, sociable, great choice of healthy and delicious food. Really a pleasure to be a part of.
The activities coordinators are fun, sociable, engaging, bubbly and kind. They're very good at making people feel relaxed and welcome.
The carers all seem lovely and do what it says on the tin - they care! So much genuine warmth and patience.
Plas is a great place - very thorough and thoughtful in their provision. Would highly recommend

My wife was very well cared for with very limited mobility, no communication and fractioning levels of cognisance. Staff were very attentive, caring or approachable. Management were extremely attentive and maintained close interest and personal supervision of my wife despite the many other committments
of the home. The establishment provided a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.

My Mum has been to Plas Y Dderwen for respite nearly a year now and her stays have been amazing ! Where do I start .. Mum first stay was very important for me as Mum has Dementia so wanted the best home for Mum.i had looked at Plas y Dderwen about 5 months before and the reviews and their website made
me contact them. We had a home visit from care home senior manager and she was lovely and so caring for Mum which made me make my choice.On arriving at Plas y Dderwen we were greeted by so many staff who were so kind and caring and showed us to mums room, which was very accommodating and with everything Mum would need for her respite stay
Mum is now in her 7th visit and loves her respite there x Just want to say about all the staff there who go above and beyond for every resident there from the nurses to cleaning staff and office staff to the restaurant chefs and staff to the laundry staff and the amazing entertainment staff are an absolute stars !! Can 100% recommend!!

My Aunt has lived at Plas Y Dderwen Care Home for almost 4 years. She is 99 years old and very frail. The staff at the home are all very friendly and really look after her, she has no complaints about the home or the staff. From my point of view, I certainly have no complaints with the home and all
the staff are very approachable and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them, I highly recommend Plas Y Dderwen Care Home.

I have no concerns about my mum being a resident at Plas y Dderwen. During her time there I have found that the care she has received to be excellent. My mother in law has been a resident at Plas y Dderwen care home for over a year. During this time i have nothing but praise for every person involved in her care. Within the care setting she is stimulated with various activities, celebration of events to which family are also invited and external visits,
both individually and as part of a group. She is treated as an individual and her ongoing needs of care are assessed regularly. As her fmaily, we are kept updated to changes in her care and are contacted if any concerns arise. Personally the care that she has received has been exceptional, and as a care home the team should be very proud of what they are achieving. Thank you all.

My experience since I have been visiting from early last year has been positive. The overall care accessibility, friendliness and welcoming atmosphere of P.Y.D has all but overwhelmed me, and continues to do so on every visit.
One things has just struck me, and that is I have made friends with members
of the staff, and also many of of the lovely residents who I know by their first name.
If asked by any person my opinion of P.Y.D it would all be positive.

My Dad has been a resident of Plas Y Dderwen for almost 2 years now, and he has received excellent care through each stage of the progression of his condition. The staff and management are fantastic, and there are always numerous activities which the residents all engage with and enjoy.

Plas-y-Dderwen is a comfortable and pleasant care home. However, what makes it exceptional is the staff. The carers who look after my Mum are wonderfully kind and competent. They work tirelessly to make sure my Mum is safe and as comfortable as possible. All members of staff use my Mum's name when they
greet her. She is treated with respect and dignity at all times.

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1994 and joined Barchester in 2015, firstly working at Plas Y Dderwen before supporting other regions for 4 years helping to improve quality and resident experience. I returned to Plas Y Dderwen in July 2022, whereby as a team we are passionate about the residents that we support and the experience they have whilst in our care.
