I have just called in to see my step mum & was pleasently surprised to see that she was in the dining room watching & enjoying a great live entertainer. The room was packed with fellow residents & attentive carers & some family members. Every one was singing along & some residents were dancing. There
is a great feeling of friendship here & there are some lovely characters. A great afternoon of entertainment was enjoyed by all. It is just one example of the great care & attention that is always provided here

I come to join all the staff and residents at Llys-y-Tywysog for the BBQ Open Day. Although the weather let us down the singer and all the residents, staff and guests had a fabulous time.
It was such a hard decision to put mum in a care home but as soon as I met and visited Llys-y-Tywysog, I knew it
was the place for mum and they've been all outstanding with their care for her.

This was from my mother's 100th birthday. We were able to invite family to a beautiful buffet in an upstairs lounge. We then joined all the residents for entertainment. The staff, as usual worked incredibly hard, nothing was too much trouble despite all their dutues. We were all incredibly impressed
with such a wonderful happy day for my mother.

Getting Dad transferred from hospital to the home was not without its issues. All caused by the incompetency of the staff at hospital and their "ignorance" of social and healthcare differences (complaint regarding such ongoing). The management and staff at the home gave excellent support to both Mum
(also a resident) and Dad. They also supported me during this time and the transition. Dad has settled well. The care is exceptional. Staff and management are approachable, professional and go above and beyond. The home provides a stimulating range of activities and care. Excellent.

My mother originally came for some respite care which then changed to possible permanent care. The support from the staff and management team has been excellent. They have supported me in dealing with all healthcare professionals through what has been a very stressful and emotional time. The team always

Family birthday celebration in upstairs lounge. Room excellent for family gatherings. Buffet was excellent with plenty of choices - fresh tea and coffee, sandwiches etc.

Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon spent celebrating my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. We had a lovely party with a buffet provided by the home. The food was excellent, very fresh and a good variety of platters. Plenty of tea and coffee.
The activities coordinator is so helpful and cares deeply for the

Michelle Bowen

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2001

Hello I am Michelle the General Manager of Lys-Y-Tywysog.  I have worked at Llys-Y-Tywysog for over 20 years, I really have worked in every department and I love every element of the job!  In 2019 I completed the QCF Level 5 in management to become Deputy Manager and was delighted to be appointed General Manager in 2021.


It is so rewarding working in this wonderful home and I am honoured to lead such a committed team.  I am sure we have one of the longest serving teams of any home, with a number of the team having worked at Llys for over 10 years and some over 20 years.  I am passionate about delivering excellent care to residents and enriching their lives every day with the focus on person centred care.  We also offer a fantastic life enrichment programme with fun and varied activities and events.


I am here to offer support to the residents, their families and the team.  For anyone considering care for themselves or for a loved one our doors are open for you to visit and meet the team.

Hi, I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father-in-law was a former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.


I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part-time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.

Hello I am Kath the administrator at Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I have worked at Llys-Y-Tywysog since 1992 and I am very proud of the success of Llys-Y-Tywysog and the excellent reputation held within the local community. 


I manage all the administration and finance within the home to ensure the home runs efficiently and I regularly speak to families.   I am proud to have achieved a Silver Award in the 2015 Wales Care Awards as well as my NVQ Level 4 in Management and Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
