My cousin is a permanent resident here, she has a lovely warm cosy room which she enjoys spending her time in watching TV. She enjoys her food here and is always clean and dressed lovely. She has her own home comforts what she wanted from home and says the carers are very good, also the senior manager.

My mum came to Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog for respite care. The care she has received has been outstanding. Mum was taken ill while at the home and all the staff looked after her with dignity and compassion. They also cared for me to and reassured me. I cannot thank the staff enough. Mum's getting better
thankfully. Mum was very nervous before she arrived at the home but soon she settled in and made friends. She will definitely be happy to visit again. Thank you.

This was Mum's first stay for respite. We had a lovely welcome, all staff very friendly, put our minds at ease as we were quite nervous leaving her. She was well looked after and she said all meals were great. We would definitely recommend Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog and hopefully, Mum can stay there

We are really pleased with the general care and attention from all the staff here. My stepfather has settled in well and is happier than he was at home alone, even though he had visitors every day. His dementia means he doesn't remember anything much for long and he sometimes gets fed up but that's
normal. He doesn't ask to go home at all.

From day one, the transition from her home to Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog, the service has been excellent. My grandmother has settled in well, in a lovely, clean room with an ensuite. The staff have been great with her and food is excellent.
When picking homes, this was the one I wanted for her and now
she's here, it's been a massive relief knowing she's well cared for, safe and in a nice environment.

The day before Mum's 90th birthday, things changed with Mum's health which meant our original plan had to change. The carers were amazing and everyone at Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog went out of their way to help arrange a lovely afternoon party in a small room at the home. They provided refreshments and
a cake for Mum at no extra charge. They help us arrange a local caterer for a buffet. They couldn't have been more helpful. It's clear they care a great deal about the residents.

My brother 77 years old with dementia, has been a resident at this residence for three months. Every visit I have made (two per week) I have found every member of staff to be very friendly and helpful. Two members of staff, in particular, stand out. I have had the opportunity to dine with my brother
and found the food to be excellent. I visited approximately eight residential homes, looking for a place for my brother, this one stuck out! Noth the nearest to my home but well worth the extra travelling time.
My brother also seems relaxed nad settled.

We celebrated my mam's 100th birthday with family and friends, staff and residents. We had an amazing time. Food and drinks supplied were fantastic, also the entertainer for the afternoon. Thank you to all the carers and staff for making it all possible.

I have been to visit my friend many times and it's a lovely experience.
She is very happy ad as she loves dancing and has the best time with the entertainment at the home.
The staff are all very kind in every department.
The cakes at the reception are delicious.

Since being in Llys-y-Tywysog I have had nothing but help and kindness shown to me. Family are always welcome and I had a lovely family gathering in the upstairs lounge for my Birthday.
The carers and cleaners are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I enjoy all activities and try to join in
everything Llys is like a home from home.

Llys-y-Tywysog is a very nice nursing home. Food is exceptional. There are plenty of activities going on every day. The residents get to go out and about, especially when the weather is good. My friend has settled in, and all the staff and residents have made her feel at home.

Wonderful staff, who treat the residents with respect and care. Activities for all members to engage each other. Good food, and plenty of choice and variety. Kept clean and tidy every day when visited. Garden needs some attention, but only just leaving the winter months - as to be expected.

Our experiences are always very positive. She is very well taken care of. The level of care and patience is outstanding. Spotlessly clean in every area. All members of the team are warm, kind and very welcoming, feel like an extension of our family. Activities are great fun and always very well organised.
One lady is awesome, we love her, and so does our relative. We are really thankful that she has a place here, and would like to thank the manager and the team for all they do and all the care they show whilst doing it.

Michelle

Michelle Bowen

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2001

Hello I am Michelle the General Manager of Lys-Y-Tywysog.  I have worked at Llys-Y-Tywysog for over 20 years, I really have worked in every department and I love every element of the job!  In 2019 I completed the QCF Level 5 in management to become Deputy Manager and was delighted to be appointed General Manager in 2021.


It is so rewarding working in this wonderful home and I am honoured to lead such a committed team.  I am sure we have one of the longest serving teams of any home, with a number of the team having worked at Llys for over 10 years and some over 20 years.  I am passionate about delivering excellent care to residents and enriching their lives every day with the focus on person centred care.  We also offer a fantastic life enrichment programme with fun and varied activities and events.


I am here to offer support to the residents, their families and the team.  For anyone considering care for themselves or for a loved one our doors are open for you to visit and meet the team.

Hi, I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father-in-law was a former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.


I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part-time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.

Hello I am Kath the administrator at Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I have worked at Llys-Y-Tywysog since 1992 and I am very proud of the success of Llys-Y-Tywysog and the excellent reputation held within the local community. 


I manage all the administration and finance within the home to ensure the home runs efficiently and I regularly speak to families.   I am proud to have achieved a Silver Award in the 2015 Wales Care Awards as well as my NVQ Level 4 in Management and Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
