Family birthday celebration in upstairs lounge. Room excellent for family gatherings. Buffet was excellent with plenty of choices - fresh tea and coffee, sandwiches etc.
Thank you to the coordinator for helping set up the day. Thank you to everyone for making my mother's 90th birthday an extra special

Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon spent celebrating my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. We had a lovely party with a buffet provided by the home. The food was excellent, very fresh and a good variety of platters. Plenty of tea and coffee.
The activities coordinator is so helpful and cares deeply for the
residents. Nothing is too much trouble.

My cousin is a permanent resident here, she has a lovely warm cosy room which she enjoys spending her time in watching TV. She enjoys her food here and is always clean and dressed lovely. She has her own home comforts what she wanted from home and says the carers are very good, also the senior manager.

My mum came to Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog for respite care. The care she has received has been outstanding. Mum was taken ill while at the home and all the staff looked after her with dignity and compassion. They also cared for me to and reassured me. I cannot thank the staff enough. Mum's getting better
thankfully. Mum was very nervous before she arrived at the home but soon she settled in and made friends. She will definitely be happy to visit again. Thank you.

This was Mum's first stay for respite. We had a lovely welcome, all staff very friendly, put our minds at ease as we were quite nervous leaving her. She was well looked after and she said all meals were great. We would definitely recommend Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog and hopefully, Mum can stay there
again this year. Many thanks.

We are really pleased with the general care and attention from all the staff here. My stepfather has settled in well and is happier than he was at home alone, even though he had visitors every day. His dementia means he doesn't remember anything much for long and he sometimes gets fed up but that's
normal. He doesn't ask to go home at all.

From day one, the transition from her home to Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog, the service has been excellent. My grandmother has settled in well, in a lovely, clean room with an ensuite. The staff have been great with her and food is excellent.
When picking homes, this was the one I wanted for her and now
she's here, it's been a massive relief knowing she's well cared for, safe and in a nice environment.

The day before Mum's 90th birthday, things changed with Mum's health which meant our original plan had to change. The carers were amazing and everyone at Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog went out of their way to help arrange a lovely afternoon party in a small room at the home. They provided refreshments and
a cake for Mum at no extra charge. They help us arrange a local caterer for a buffet. They couldn't have been more helpful. It's clear they care a great deal about the residents.

My brother 77 years old with dementia, has been a resident at this residence for three months. Every visit I have made (two per week) I have found every member of staff to be very friendly and helpful. Two members of staff, in particular, stand out. I have had the opportunity to dine with my brother
and found the food to be excellent. I visited approximately eight residential homes, looking for a place for my brother, this one stuck out! Noth the nearest to my home but well worth the extra travelling time.
My brother also seems relaxed nad settled.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.929)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.929) out of 10 for Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.929 for Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog is calculated as follows: ( (522 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 561 Ratings = 4.929
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
