Do not allow your loved one to live her.
Poor communication
Mainly agency staff - high turnover of staff.
Poor management
Poor handling of complaints
Please see the Care Inspectorate Wales report for more information. This home has been in "escalating concerns" for many months due to professional concerns by local authority and health board staff.

The most distressing time of my life having my mother live at the home.

My mum was recently placed at the home roughly 6 weeks ago. She was in a poor state after her long stay at a hospital. Poor hygiene etc. Since her arrival she has improved significantly. The staff are amazing with her and also very welcoming to myself and cant do enough for her. I go there twice a week and she rings me daily to update me of her day. Her hygiene has improved immensely and she gets her hair done once a week as a hairdresser is appointed on a weekly basis. The food is really good and I'm extremely pleased with the overall cleanliness of the place. I would definitely recommend placing a loved one here. Thank you all I now have peace of mind that she's safe and happy.

Incredibly understaffed - the staff they do have are seriously under qualified to be working there. No wonder they have been under special measures twice in the past 12 months. Food hygiene is poor. Lack of care and compassion for unwell residents- using derogatory terms about them. To be quite frank I wouldn't recommend a placement here to my worst enemy.
No support to family members where staff have actually lied on numerous occasions- they have given the incorrect dosage of medication on multiple occasions ( from what they have admitted to) Management lack training.
Most visits it takes me over 20 minutes to gain access to the building as there are no staff there and when I did find them they weren't attending to residents they were sat on their phones!!!!
Incredibly heartbreaking experience having my nan live here.

They will only look after you if you are immobile and mute - less of an inconvenience to them!

I would like to thank the nursing team, my father was only in Plas Cwm Carw for a shot time(7 weeks) but I can honestly say the staff were amazing from day 1, they are so friendly and caring, they treated my farther with dignity and respect, and welcomed my mother and i every day when we visited, when it came to end of life, the nursing staff were fantastic, keeping us updated on my fathers wellbeing, even at the end, they were caring and informative to what would happen next.
I would like to thank each and every nurse and care assistant that looked after my father, you do a fantastic job

Thank you so much, there are not enough stars for me to give my appreciation

My experience of Plas Cwm is that I am made to feel welcome when I visit staff from management down to housekeeping are very friendly my brother has only been there since August but has settled well and gets on with all the staff (many of which he calls his friends). Activities are amazing and singers interact with the residents. Staff work hard on a daily basis, especially with entertainment and involves all residents, getting up to dance with them if residents choose to do so.

Overall I am very satisfied with the care my mother is receiving I have sometimes noticed lack of communication due to staff changing so much. The laundry service leaves much to be desired- My mums clothes etc- are all labelled with embroidered name tags that are very securely sewn on- yet the clothes seem to get lost and often other peoples clothes are in her wardrobe- also my mams hearing aids have gone through the wash twice- as pockets are not checked! Also clothes are not sorted before being washed. Most of my mothers "white" underwear is now dirty grey and some missing.

My uncle has settled in very well and the staff have welcomed him from the start. Staff go above and beyond in their job roles.

They work really hard providing activities for the residents and always get them involved if the residents choose to do so.

My mum was moved here from another home, well I'm so happy because I see my mum so much happier, she loves it here. The staff go above and beyond for the residents nothing is too much for them, there is a lovely garden, and lots of activities, and the rooms are beautiful with en suite toilets. I love the fact that they hold meetings every few months just to keep up to date with the family. When I take my mum out, after a couple of hours she asks to go back, so that to me means she feels safe and it's her safe space, cannot fault this home.

My husband is not an easy man because of his dementia. Plas Cwm has managed him and his condition very well, he is always clean and tidy and has been offered food even if he will not eat it. His dementia can make him very challenging but he has received nothing but kindness at this home.

My wife moved to Plas Cwm from another care home about a fortnight ago. The previous staff and home were very good but I feel much happier in this establishment. The staff are very obliging and there is a homely feeling at the home. The security is so good.

We moved my mother-in-law here last July 2023. The care she receives here is amazing, nothing is too much problem, the staff cannot do enough for my mother-in-law even though, due to her condition, she is hard to look after.

Always welcomed by all the staff and management. Dad's quite happy and loved the staff chatting with him (even though he can barely hear). Can be grumpy sometimes and and refuses to join in things but that's just him.

Mum and I would love to thank all the staff at Plas Cwm Carw for all the care and support they have provided and continue to provide for my auntie, she is safe and doing very well as she was quite poorly this year and the staff were very informative and got her seen straight away by the hospital resulting in her now being well again. Can't thank them enough for the care and support which is always given.
The moving around was a worrying time but it all went very smoothly and my auntie took to it very well. My concerns were treated with respect and I was listened to. The staff have been very supportive, all the way through.
We are coming to the end of another year and the staff throughout these difficult times have been very busy, but always put residents' priority first.
I would like to wish all staff a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to come.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support and for looking after my beautiful auntie.

From July to September 2023 my mum was a resident there. Overall the care she received was very poor, staff not trained to deal with elderly mentally infirm residents.

Very poor hygiene, staff never interact with residents, just park them in front of the TV. Maintenance in the home was very poor, overall a shocking experience for my mum and the family.

My dad is regularly left alone in his room, sometimes bed sheets open with no dignity, catheter full and I've asked for it to be emptied. Carers are very busy and I appreciate all they do for my dad, just a little more care and attention would be wonderful.
