My Dad was diagnosed with dementia in January 2019. He was living in Blackpool alone at the time. I live in Wales and wanted him nearer. BankHouse accepted to take him. Since at BankHouse he has deteriorated, but the management and staff at BankHouse have helped my Dad settle in and do everything they
can to make him comfortable at this difficult time. I am really happy and grateful for everything BankHouse is doing for my Dad.

I can't fault BankHouse. They are very committed to the care for all their residents and staff. There were no problems from the day my father arrived. Even before that, they gave me support and explanations on all aspects of care. My father lived there for the remainder of his life. Cared for with dignity
and cared for by all. If anyone needs care, this is a cracking place to be in and was also a very friendly environment for my father and our family. You feel welcomed as you walk through the door every time.

My husband is a resident of BankHouse Care Home, my son recently got married and as my husband couldn't go to the wedding, the manager kindly offered us the use of the conservatory for close family to celebrate with my husband. The manager and staff went totally above and beyond for us, the conservatory
was beautiful and the manager also put on a buffet and wedding cake. I cannot speak highly enough of the welcome our family had and the memories they helped us make, especially for my husband. On behalf of our family, we will be forever grateful to all at BankHouse Care Home.

It is a very happy friendly home. I am really happy with the progress my mother has made since she went to the home. I will be recommending it to a lot of people. It is like one big happy family. The staff are all very caring and welcome everyone that goes to visit. I have no worries with my mother
and know she is in safe hands.

Dad has been a resident for almost a year and during that time he has received fabulous care from the team on his unit. He has presented with several issues during his time here but the staff have persisted to find the best care and routine to make sure he is looked after.

Staff are friendly and supportive.
The manager is very helpful and her office door is always open if you want to go in and speak to her.
The food is good.
The new owner has started to update the home by painting and decorating and replacing furniture.
Various activities throughout the week for residents

My aunt was placed at Bankhouse nursing home as an end of life patient. She was expected to live 4-6 weeks. I am confident that it was the excellent care she received that she lived 14 months. She was bed nursed the entire time and had no pressure sores at any time.
They (Carers) were extremely kind
to my aunt. Especially two staff members were always helpful with us as a family. I would confidently recommend B.H.

This is from my two sisters and me. Our mother was only with BankHouse Care home for the last three days of her life. The staff showed a great deal of compassion and care for our mum, who could neither communicate or swallow. So her needs were not only met but were surpassed. This truly was a case of
quality of care.

Thank you to the managers and all your staff for the support you gave our family.

I originally placed my mother at Bank House in April 2014 and later placed my brother there in May 2015, I was blown away by the level of care and dedication both my family experienced. They were both shown love and compassion far in excess of any sense of duty within their job remit. I have on many
occasions recommended Bank House to friends and colleagues when opinions are requested. There has been lots of money spent over the last year upgrading all the facilities and improving the resident's environment.

Having brought in my friend for care and visited many times, I have found the home to be excellent in every department. The nursing and care staff to be professional and friendly in their dealings with residents and visitors.

Having been in local government for 22 years serving 19 as the political

lead of social services, I have as part of my responsibilities have on an annual basis reviewed all care homes in Blaenau Gwent and the previous Gwent County Councils. I feel qualified to give you my personal review.

My father has been here since January 2017 and has received nothing but first class care, both medically and socially. The food is of a high standard and there is plenty of it. There are social activities if wanted, or TV to watch. All in all, I cannot praise the care my father is receiving high
enough.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.653)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.653) out of 10 for Bankhouse Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.853 for Bankhouse Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (142 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.853
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bankhouse Nursing Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I joined Bank House Nursing Home in 2025, and in a short time, I’ve truly grown to love the home. It has such a wonderful feel - set within beautiful grounds, with bright, spacious rooms and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The residents enjoy a full range of engaging activities and lovely home-cooked meals every day. It’s a joy to be part of such a caring team, and I’m so proud of the positive, family spirit that makes Bank House such a special place to live and work.
