My mother aged 92 needed 24-hour nursing care following a broken hip. A traumatic change after living in her own home for 69 years! BankHouse provided excellent care, reassurance and treated her with great dignity. They respected her Christian faith. She was always dressed nicely in her own clothes
and food adapted to suit her taste. Mam had poor eyesight, she recognised the staff by name and loved them all. In the last weeks of her life, the compassionate care was wonderful. We can not thank them enough and would recommend them to others.

My father-in-law asked to go into a care home after a few months in a hospital. Previously he lived in sheltered accommodation with carers. He has very poor mobility and multiple health problems and so required nursing care. My husband and I chose BankHouse Care Home. The matron gave clear helpful information.
The atmosphere of the home is good. Everyone engages well with the residents. The home is being refurbished but is kept very clean and the food is good. My father in law found the first week traumatic but he received wonderful care and is now happy there.

I find BankHouse Care Home staff and facilities to be good in general. Condition of rooms (and furniture in some) needs a general overhaul but the new owner is apparently in the process of doing so. Staff, on the whole, seem to know what is best and how to interact with my relative. some are better
than others, which is expected. I feel that my relative is safe and content (as much as possible) in the home.

BankHouse Care Home is an excellent care home. The staff are very kind, friendly and caring to my brother and other residents. They have a variety of activities and he enjoys the singers that come from time to time. His bedroom is always clean and tidy and I would recommend this home. Recently, there
has been a vast improvement in the garden and grounds outside, so will be very pleasant when the spring/summer comes for the residents.

Mum went into BankHouse Care Home April 2014. I was very worried about her going into a home. You hear so many stories about these homes, so I was very nervous. Mum was happy from the first day. They have singers coming in, a quiz, games and company all day. She is happy and well-cared for. The staff
are great, kind, happy and enjoy their job. They now have a new owner who is spending money on the building which was needed. I chose BankHouse Care Home because of what I found on the inside not how it looked from the outside.

My mum was admitted to BankHouse after a lengthy hospital stay. Her needs were thoroughly and accurately assessed by the home manager and she was made very welcome by all the staff.
The standard of nursing care at BankHouse is very high and staff at all levels are friendly, attentive and caring.
Leisure
and entertainment activities are high on the agenda and are well supported.
Facilities at the home are currently being refurbished.

Mum was admitted in May this year which was a traumatic time for us as a family as we wanted her to stay at home but due to her decline this was not sensible. However, the transition has proved positive as we are all more content knowing that she is well cared for and supported by very friendly staff.
A refurbishment of the home is in progress which will enhance the surroundings and rooms but we understand this is an on-going programme.

My dad is fairly new to the home but has settled in well.
The home has recently changed ownership and in a very short space of time, the changes have been very positive from what I can see.
There is a new garden where my dad can grow vegetables and feed the birds. The staff are great; friendly, caring,
and fun. It genuinely feels like a home and not a wing of a hospital like some others we visited!
We can't recommend it enough.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.653) out of 10 for Bankhouse Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.853 for Bankhouse Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (142 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.853
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bankhouse Nursing Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I joined Bank House Nursing Home in 2025, and in a short time, I’ve truly grown to love the home. It has such a wonderful feel - set within beautiful grounds, with bright, spacious rooms and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The residents enjoy a full range of engaging activities and lovely home-cooked meals every day. It’s a joy to be part of such a caring team, and I’m so proud of the positive, family spirit that makes Bank House such a special place to live and work.
