In a semi-rural location on the outskirts of Welshpool, the Rhallt provides both nursing and dementia nursing care. It is close to local amenities and within easy reach of Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Newtown. Yet a few miles up the road is the beautiful Welsh countryside.

They provide 24-hour nursing and respite care alongside expert care for people with dementia, including in their Memory Lane Community. They also provide care for those with a range of nursing needs.

A team of highly-qualified and dedicated staff really focuses on the individual needs of residents with a tailored care plan for each person. This dedication can be seen throughout the home in cooking, hospitality and organising activities for residents.

I visit the home twice a week to see my wife. At all times, I find her nicely washed and in clean clothes. In fact, she looks very nice. The staff I am in contact with are always very helpful, polite and human, which is great. Thank you all.

This was Mum's second stay and she was so looking forward to "her holiday". We are pleased to say that her stay this time was no less enjoyable. Mum received first-class attention from people who clearly enjoy their work and want to be there and was delighted to meet other residents. She is a great
conversationalist and feels that her stay at The Rhallt has helped restore some of her confidence and social skills, following the long period of lockdown and serious illness. Being on the ground floor with easy, level access to the dining/communal area and other guests meant that she could get around easily, making good use of her rollator. She loved the food (and choices available) and the bath and cannot speak highly enough of the staff who took care of her. She is already looking forward to her next stay! This gives us reassurances and peace of mind, knowing mum is well looked after and that she is enjoying herself so much while at The Rhallt. Unreservedly recommended.

Dad has been in the Rhallt a few weeks now and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. The manager and team have honestly got the residents' best interests at heart. The care and compassion shown is heartwarming. It’s always a tough decision for families choosing a home but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend
The Rhallt. The facilities and activities are excellent and they really do treat our loved ones as one of their own. Looking at the daily menus you’d think you were in a posh hotel. Nothing is too much trouble to make sure the residents are happy. Even Dad said ‘they can’t do enough for him. He’s not the easiest to deal with at times but I’ve seen for myself how caring, patient and kind the staff are. Thank you all. The manager and team - you really are incredible.

My mother has been at The Rhallt for the past two years. She was in other local care homes for nearly three years prior to this. She suffers with dementia. This is by far the most wonderful and comfortable home she has stayed in. The cleanliness and facilities are second to none, but what really makes

Having visited The Rhallt Nursing Home I was extremely impressed by the home itself which was immaculate. All staff appeared to be very friendly and clients appeared very happy in their home environment too. Looking at the photographs there are lots of activities with interaction from both staff and

My mother has had excellent care since being at The Rhallt. The staff are welcoming, supportive and caring. They have supported face time calls i.e difficult Covid-19 pandemic, outside pod visits and now indoor visitations. I find the facebook photographs a benefit in seeing various activities that
happen. My mother always looked well looked after all times.

Can not fault the care that is given to my partner by all members of the staff where my partner has been a resident of the Rhallt for the last number of years. They have always shown the greatest of compassion for her and tended to her every need.

The staff genuinely care about the residents, often going the extra mile. Management cannot be faulted, working in what has been an extreme year. I feel overall support from head office could be better - finding on staff numbers improved and less emphasis on corporate facilities such as reception and
corridors when carpets and rooms are in need of attention.

Such a wonderful place! I was amazed by the standard of care and commitment that all the care workers have. It is clean, spacious and airy with lovely light private rooms and toilets with good solid furnishings. The residents and their families are treated with respect, tenderness and are all great
communicators. Every effort is made to keep the residents interested, alert, stimulated, happy and it pays off. When I called in to see my mum, and I asked her about Barchester The Rhallt Care Home she said 'Best place ever.' This was clear to see as she is treated not as a resident but as a valued person! If you have to be in a care home or one of your dear ones has reached that stage in life that we all so dread, then Barchester The Rhallt Care Home is as good as it gets! I can't even begin to thank the staff enough; the standard of care exceeded all expectations!

Blown away with the immaculate spring planting and well-maintained gardens, whilst waiting for the results of my lateral flow test. They match the equally colourful Easter displays on the windows. Staff are always helpful even in these terrible Covid times. Whenever I phone, they are more than happy to help with the concerns I have. My father recently passed away aged 103. He had been a resident of The Rhallt Care Home, Welshpool for the last 7 years. I cannot praise the staff and carers enough for the care they gave Dad. Always keeping me informed on a regular basis as and when anything arose that I needed to be informed about.
Prior to Covid when visiting was on a normal basis, I was always impressed by the way staff treated and respected all the residents. The family cannot thank them enough.

In this trying time, the staff at The Rhallt have gone above and beyond looking after my Mum. They have kept us up to date with all the new policies as they come in from the government. They were very quick to get the pod up when it was allowed so we could visit mum. They keep us well informed about
mum's health and ring us straight away if there is a problem of any kind. Couldn't have found a better place for mum to be looked after.

The Rhallt is a special place filled with special staff that treat the residents like family, sadly both my mother and father were both residents, my father only for a short time but they made his last days special, my mother now lives there and is so incredibly happy, they couldn't look after her better.

Mum was a resident last year in the Rhallt and from day one the staff were so helpful and caring. I cannot say how much especially during lockdown this meant to us. When nearing her last days the care and consideration given were second to none.
Nothing was too much trouble for both Mum and us as her
relatives.
Please express our heartfelt thank you to the Rhallt Staff, for making such a difficult time just a bit easier all round.

The Staff in this care home are so hardworking! During this pandemic, I have been kept informed of my mothers care needs, her wishes and everything about her daily life as we cant visit. Video calls are always offered and the staff really go that extra mile to make my mother happy.
My mother reports
to me about the good food and the kindness of the staff towards her. We as a family can’t fault this care home.

Ingrid Simkin

Ingrid has been at the Rhallt since January 2023. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2006 and as a Specialist District Nurse in 2014. Having worked in the NHS for 18 years, Ingrid completed her MBA in 2019 and moved into the private sector. Ingrid previously worked at the Rhallt as Deputy Manager and when the General Manager position arose she was keen to return and work with the wonderful team at the Rhallt.

Amy started at the Rhallt in June 2023. At her previous home, Amy headed up a newly commissioned Dementia Unit and has a passion for both Dementia and General Care. With a background in both administration and care, Amy inspires the care team to drive quality and ensure our residents are cared for and living their best lives.

Jo was awarded the Spirit of Lovett award in 2024 for her dedication to both her profession and the home.

Lynne is an experienced Registered General Nurse who has worked at the Rhallt on Breidden Unit for over 10 years. Having worked in a variety of settings during her career, Lynne has a wealth of knowledge on the floor.

Sadie and Cristina are both long-serving Registered General Nurses. Between them, they have over 40 years of service at the Rhallt and are passionate about outstanding patient care in Castell Coch, our General Nursing Unit.

Karen

Karen Mann

Job Title: Team Leader Joined: 2004

Karen leads the care team at Breidden, our Dementia Unit. She has worked at the Rhallt for 20 years and is an award-winning team leader, having scooped the award for ‘Changing the lives of those we care for’ at the Lovett Annual Care Awards in 2023. Karen is our Dementia Champion and is a real advocate for our residents.

Nicholle

Nicholle Birkett

Job Title: Team Leader Joined: 2019

Nicholle has worked at the Rhallt since 2019. She has held both Care and Admin roles within the home and now leads the care team on Castell Coch. Nicholle is passionate about maintaining residents' autonomy and dignity and oversees the induction of new staff on the unit.

Ade Onibudo

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant Joined: 2022

Ade has worked at the Rhallt since 2022. He is one of the Seniors on Breidden Unit, supporting Karen to oversee excellent care delivery and is a wonderful example of 'living your values'. Ade always has a smile on his face and is excellent at bringing the team together.

Adithyan Perikinalil-Sinu

Adi has been at the Rhallt since 2022. He is one of the seniors on Castell Coch and supports Nicholle to ensure that care delivery is the gold standard and that patients can live in the way they would like.

Segun

Segun Adesogbon

Segun leads the care team on nights. He is a strong leader and a strong advocate of patient-centred care. He is studying towards a PhD and is a strong promoter of education.

Jestin

Jestin Varghese

Jestin has worked at the Rhallt since 2022. He is also a trained Nurse and brings a rich career history, which enriches his practice on the Castell Coch Unit.
