Very happy with my father's care provision. His condition does not really allow him to participate in the many activities that are on offer at the Home, and his time mixing with other residents is limited. The staff/nursing staff are all very pleasant, attentive and easy to deal with. Meals from what I can see are substantive and healthy.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, Nick. We are so pleased to read your positive comments about your father's care at Hawkhill House and that our team have been approachable for you. Your feedback will be passed on to the team.
The staff are all wonderfully pleasant, deeply caring, and dedicated. There is a genuine warmth here, and the building itself has a lovely, homely feel that made the transition so much easier for our family.
It is worth noting that the building is on the older side and could certainly do with some physical improvements. However, I understand that these upgrades are already being planned. More importantly, the aging building is absolutely no reflection on the quality of care provided. The environment is clean, and the staff more than make up for any cosmetic shortcomings.
Most importantly, I feel completely safe and at peace knowing my mother is in such good, capable hands. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a place where their loved one.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, Alix. We're glad you feel the management team are accommodating and that your Mother's needs are being met, and also that she's in capable hands. Your feedback will be passed on to the team.
The staff are always very friendly when we visit, they do lots of activities with the residents and the food served is lovely!
Hawkhill House is very homely and kept very clean.
The staff are excellent at communicating with the family if something has to be discussed which is reassuring.

Our family all agree that Hawkhill House Nursing Home is an outstanding care provider. Our mother is so happy, settled and grateful for the kindness and care that she receives there. The staff are all so welcoming to us at each visit and in many ways, we feel like we're visiting mam in her home, but with the added bonus of being incredibly well supported alongside having the invaluable company of the other Hawkhill House residents. Great care and attention is paid to ensuring the residents have many inclusive activities to engage with and their wishes and autonomy is the top priority. The catering team are exceptional and the standard of choice and quality is second to none. We're so grateful for all that Hawkhill House offer.

From a personal perspective there are some niggles; getting in and out of the home is too often frustratingly slow, but other homes can be slow too. A few carers can be inclined to forget not all residents have dementia, and the turn-over of care staff is disappointingly high, but again, these are a common challenges for all care homes.
For anyone looking for a care home that has more of a homely feel rather than a clinical institution, Hawkhill House would be a good choice.

I cannot express how kind everyone is but I can say that I am now able to sleep at night know that someone is looking after mum. We visited a number of nursing homes in Aberdeen and we can honestly say there are none that match the care and protection given at Hawkhill House. Please continue to provide this excellent service as Mum feels, as we do, that she has just moved home. Thank you so much.

Some residents enjoy sitting in the foyer where they can chat to visitors as they pass. There are comfortable well appointed sitting rooms where activities and entertainment take place . As there's always something going on they are well used!
Rooms have ensuite shower rooms and are newly refurbished , with adequate storage and very comfortable.

My dad was in for respite whilst my mum was in hospital. He has early stage dementia and is at risk of falling. He was well cared for and some of the staff went over and above to look after him. The food and activities were all good. There was a lot of upgrading of the outside area whilst Dad was there.

It's also great to hear the food and activities met your expectations. Your feedback will be passed on to the team who will be delighted with your review.
My mum moved into Hawkhill in April after not being able to cope with looking after herself in her own house. As she has memory issues, this wasn't easy for her to agree to moving out of her home of 45 years, however, the lovely caring staff, tasty meals, great activities and entertainment soon had her settled in no time. She commented on everyone being "so very nice and helpful" and I can very much agree with that comment. Anytime I've been visiting I've had first-hand experience of just how helpful everyone is - this covers all staff and not just nurses and carers. With the death of my dad in September this year, everyone gave great care and compassion towards our family who all came together to console my mum and help her through such a big event in her life. They had just celebrated 66 years of marriage together in July where Hawkhill had provided a cake and party facility for them both on the day. A devastating blow which Mum is now slowly coming to terms with thanks to all staff.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are so sorry for your loss of your dad and understand that it was a very difficult time for your mum. We're glad to have provided great care and compassion for your family, and also that our Home is meeting your mum's expectations regarding the...
The care my aunt received whilst living at Hawkhill House Nursing Home was excellent. All staff were supportive and went out of their way to offer her assistance and to ensure her needs were met. The care home was kept immaculate. My aunt was happy and relaxed and felt at home in Hawkhill.

Mum moved into Hawkhill just before her 100th birthday. The kind and caring staff helped her settle quickly and smoothly. They constantly checked with me and her what she did/didn't like - including what she wanted to do on her birthday. They then set up her birthday party exactly as she wished - right down to the type of cake. We had a wonderful memorable day. Thank you all so much!

Sadly, my father passed away at the end of July, but in his last days, the nurses, carers and domestic staff bent over backwards ensuring that he was as comfortable as possible and in keeping me informed on how he was.
I can only thank everyone at Hawkhill for helping my dad. It was comforting to know that he was being well looked after during his stay.
Thank you for your kind words and recognition of the team at Hawkhill House. We are so sorry for your loss and we hope we made your dad's time with us as comfortable and as peaceful as possible. It's lovely to hear that you felt comforted that he was being well looked after while he was with us. Your comments will be passed on to the team.
My mum moved into Hawkhill House earlier this year. We were very anxious as all indications were that my mum would not be happy. However, despite my mum's health issues, she is clearly living her best life at Hawkhill. Mum's quality of life is immeasurably improved even though she may not realise it. All staff are incredibly caring and we can see often how they deal sensitively with all the issues that can arise within the home. The online feedback tools are very useful to get real-time feedback on my mum's day-to-day activities and medical history. Every day there are activities for Mum to take part in - many of which will be new to Mum but the coordinators do a great job of encouraging and facilitating participation. The food is excellent and consequently Mum's diet has improved significantly. Every single member of staff we have encountered are gentle but professional, they clearly know my mum and it provides great comfort to us to know Mum is being well looked after.

Exceptional loving care and attention given to our dad/grandad/great-grandad during his 3-month stay there. We, as a family, cannot praise the home and staff highly enough. Without exception, all the staff were kind and caring and provided a beautiful safe home for our loved one. Thank you.

My sister settled into Hawkhill very easily. This is due to the level of care and compassion shown to her. As a visitor, I find the staff welcoming, happy and cheerful at their work. All areas of the home are very clean as are the residents we meet, taking into account all their special requirements.

Everyone has a unique set of skills and talents, and I want to help our residents to both utilise and build these. In a great team of colleagues, I want to play my part to the full to help both residents, those close to them and my colleagues all thrive individually and collectively.
