Hawkhill House is located within one and a half acres of colourful gardens which provide peace and seclusion in the town of Milltimber. The home has a warm family atmosphere, with highly trained staff available to get to know residents individually offering the highest standards of residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent and short stay basis.

Hawkhill House is home to residents above all else and every aspect of daily life is planned with this in mind. Staff work hard to enable residents to continue living full, active lives, providing personalised care and support as and when it’s required. Hawkhill House staff assess all of the prospective residents to ensure the home can meet their specific care needs. A care plan is then developed, which sets out the tailored package of care and hospitality as agreed.

Within the home, all of the bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Residents are encouraged to bring small items of furniture and other treasured possessions to make the rooms more homely.

Home is nice clean and fresh looking. staff are very nice and helpful and turnover is relatively low. Level of personal one to one care is very good. All staff genuinely care about the resident and understand them well.
Food is varied and well prepared, there appear to be lots of activities for those
able to participate.

Following a fall my mother-in-law was struggling with mobility and we required emergency respite. I was very impressed with the prompt and professional response to this request. Two weeks respite was arranged and was very successful. Room, although small, was very clean. staff were all very friendly
and helpful and meals were all enjoyed. Visitors always felt welcome and that staff were approachable.

My Dad has been at Hawkhill since March 2020. He is well looked after and the care he receives is second to none, he suffers from Dementia and we couldn’t give him the care he required, I honestly feel he receives this and more from the staff at Hawkhill. They are warm and caring, it has a lovely homely
feel, they were great at celebrating my Dads 88th birthday, baking him the most fantastic cake. I highly recommend Hawkhill House for your relative.

I arrived to visit mum during Storm Arwen not realising that Hawkhill House was experiencing a significant power cut. As always when I arrive to visit, the staff are friendly and welcoming even though it soon became clear they were dealing with a most unusual situation. The care and attention offered
by each and every member of staff to the residents to ensure that they were all safe, warm and not concerned/upset by the situation was second to none. I was able to go back home that night knowing that mum was indeed in safe hands. On my return the following day, well it was like business as usual with Mum clearly not affected by the events of the weekend. Thank you so very much for your first class care!

My mother has been very well looked after at Hawkhill House Nursing Home for 5 years plus and the level of care is of a very high standard; we would definitely recommend Hawkhill as a great care home my mother has been very well cared for in her time in Hawkhill; she seems very content in her self.

My father required respite care at short notice and Hawkhill House arranged this for us. All of the staff we were in contact with were friendly and made my father's stay at the home comfortable and enjoyable for him. We have complete trust in their care of him and would have no hesitation in arranging
further respite stays in the future if the accommodation is available. Highly recommended for their professional care and standards - treating each resident as an individual. Thank you for looking after Dad.

Even before my mum was admitted to Hawkhill House Nursing Home, I have found the care home manager to be very friendly and informative. The first visit after Mum was admitted was very upsetting for both myself and Mum as we were both getting accustomed to the situation, since then my mum has blossomed
into the woman that she once was. I put this down to the staff and the activities that are made available. It makes me so happy to see my mum so full of joy once again and all the staff that I have encountered have been welcoming even with all the restrictions that Covid has thrown our way.

The family found the level of care and attention given to my mother as excellent.


All the home employees from the manager to the cleaners treated my other with the utmost respect.


At the end, the staff ensured my mother was kept as comfortable and pain-free as possible.

Rae qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2003 and began her career in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, before discovering a passion for elderly care. She soon transitioned into the care home sector, where her compassionate nature and leadership skills saw her rise through the roles of Staff Nurse and Deputy Manager before becoming a Home Manager in 2012.


With over 20 years of experience, Rae is deeply committed to creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel truly at home. Known for her hands-on, person-centred approach, Rae leads her team with empathy and encouragement. Outside of work, she enjoys horse riding, hill walking, and spending time with her family.
