Overall Experience
My mother-in-law is a resident in Murrayfield House. The standard of care she receives is exemplary. The staff could not do more. Their care and attention to detail is of the very highest order. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that my mother-in-law has settled in and is comfortable during the transition period.
It's noticeable that the staff have all been at Murrayfield long term and are committed to the residents. This is an excellent indicator for any business.
My mother-in-law's room is spacious bright and the decor is lovely. The patio doors to the garden ensure a lovely aspect that will only improve as spring arrives.

I thoroughly recommend Murrayfield House. It really is 5-star care in a wonderful setting with fantastic staff.

It is difficult to describe my experience as access in the recent covid situation, has been restricted. However, I must say when access was permitted, I was happy with all measures taken. My friend is well cared for and she is happy with her care.

My mother went into this care home just at the start of lockdown, so it has been very difficult for her, and us.

The staff have been so welcoming and accommodating. She is now settled and well cared for. She is looking really well.

The combination of consummate professionalism, agility, empathy and friendliness of the staff sets a very high bar for the industry. You dealt with an acute need seamlessly and my father and I are truly grateful.

We have been delighted with the care my mother has received since moving to Murrayfield house a year ago. The nurses and carers are superb and have done an excellent job, especially in these challenging times. We are very grateful to them for looking after Mum so well!

I do feel that management communication could be improved, there is a tendency to blame 'head office' (HC One is a large organisation) rather than address questions and comments locally with the relatives involved, and the level of communication through these challenging times (in terms of updates and information) could have been better.

Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Murrayfield House Care Home

Thank you for your very positive feedback about the care in Murrayfield House. In relation to communication, we are very sorry that you have felt this to be poor and we will review how we contact relatives from the home to try to give a more personalised update.

Extremely pleased with the wonderful care and attention my aunt receives at Murrayfield House. The staff are so warm and friendly and work so hard to make her stay a home from home. I could not recommend the home more to all family and friends. Thank you for the most amazing job you do day and night.

My mum has been in Murrayfield Care Home for two years and I have never had any concerns in that time. Nor have any of the family who visit. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I visit my mum regularly so have had ample opportunity to see that all the residents are treated with care and compassion. Family and friends and all made to feel welcome.

The overall arrangements for the care home are in a properly connected set up. As well as continuous set up of a good system of food at all times. The experience, in general, is high with regards to cleanliness overall. Items of furniture and toilet arrangements are kept at a good level of care. Items of bedroom matters are kept at a good state of condition and comfort.

Relating to the lockdown period for COVID-19, my brother has been well looked after, and extras I personally did in care well taken over. I have been well informed over the last four months of lockdown (March - July), phoning the unit regularly, and getting some Skype calls to "see" my brother. When something went wrong with his special air chair a few days ago I was informed and able to get quick action taken by the company that had bought it from to remedy the problem and get the chair useable again within a few days. Today was my first "garden" distanced visit. Very well organised. Staff have been very caring for both my brother and me over this difficult time. I have felt appropriately valued.

Murrayfield House Care Home gives out the feeling of friendliness and care. The staff are cheerful and interested in visitors in a genuine way. The care home is furnished with great care in their choice of local pictures and a good mixture of genuine old masters paintings. The dining area for the residents is set out in small groups of 4 or 5 people and beautifully with linen tablecloths and large linen napkins. There is a really small forest area with adequate paths for walking. There is a regular chance for discussion and feedback between staff and residents. An extensive programme of activities for all the residents, and also a visiting dog or other animals, for those that want it. The residents also enjoy the visits from 3 to 5year old children from the local school and at other times the visits from 15-year- old children from the same school. We all enjoy some superb musical entertainment from top-class musicians.

Straight away from Dad being referred to yourselves, I was impressed by how he was at the centre of planning and care and how he was received on admission. My sister and I were so pleased with his care. He improved greatly in your care and we hope to have him permanently with you.

I was also pleased with the way staff communicated with the family.
