Overall Experience
My aunt became a resident at Murrayfield after her discharge from hospital following surgery for a fractured hip and she was also suffering from post-operative infection and swelling. The nursing staff, one lady, in particular, have done a remarkable job to restore my aunt's health and well being to a stable condition. I am really impressed by the attention and compassion shown by all the nursing staff, carers and administrative office.

Knowing that my aunt is benefitting from the best care possible for the multiple health conditions she suffers from, is truly a Godsend and provides peace of mind knowing how well she is being cared for.

In the morning the staff should not open the door, switch on the light and demand the resident gets up straight away and choose their clothes. When being showered and then cleaning her teeth she is given a cup to spit in and clean her brush. Also given a flannel with old water to wash her face. Not a good enough start to the day.

Throughout her stay, until she died in January 2019. The care given to my wife was faultless. The carers carried out their professional duties in a way which showed their care for her and an individual. She could not have been in better hands and the care which all the staff gave to her was generously extended to me and our family.

I cannot praise this Care Home highly enough. My mother has been incredibly well looked after during her time there. Although she is now bed-bound, until recently she has engaged with the staff and other residents and participated fully in activities. The food is great and the rooms are lovely. The place and the staff are so welcoming and treat us all as part of the family.

My experience of the care home has been pleasant and friendly and they do their best for my sister.

My only misgiving is that she appears to be unable or unwilling to enter into any spirit of the activities and is therefore not getting the benefit of the care home experience.

My mother was a resident at Murrayfield House for 1 year 8 months. The staff were kind and helped her settle and despite her many demands for help (through her family) they looked after her well and the nursing staff managed her sodium level for the first time in many years. She didn't want to be there but in the circumstances, it was the best choice and we would choose the same home again if we had her time over. She lived with dignity to the end.

The care my mother receives is extremely good and the staff are very caring, professional and friendly. My mother is much happier since her move to the care home as she has people to talk to. There are interesting and appropriate activities arranged. She is happy with her room there and enjoys the meals.

My mum has only been in The Murrayfield Nursing Home for eight weeks but what a difference it has made. Before she was housebound and only had contact with her carers four times a day. Now the nurses and care assistants spend time speaking to her at all times of the day which means she is more mentally stimulated than before.
She participates in activities run in the nursing home and goes out in the minibus visiting alpacas, barge trips etc. During the lovely weather, she was outside which would never have happened at home.

Although my mum was set against going into a nursing home, she is now settled, enjoys the care and company and indeed has said after an outing 'home again' which are words I never thought I'd hear!

My mother has been a resident for some three and a half years and suffers from dementia. After a settling in period, she has now fully accepted that this is her home. This acceptance is entirely due to the staff and management who have worked hard to make it happen in a quiet and efficient manner exercised with patience and grace. The care and facilities are first class which gives peace of mind to relatives knowing that their loved ones are safe, comfortable and in receipt of the help that they require.

My husband was a resident here for two years and was looked after very well. The staff were fantastic, caring and special - treating him with dignity at all times. They also looked after our family.

I still work in the cafe and feel privileged to be part of Murrayfield House care home in a small way.

This is the third occasion on which I have used the home in the last 20 years.
The standards of care, accommodation and food have always been high - as one expects.

I also suspect we subsidise too many who should be supported by central/local government!
