It goes without saying that I fully recommend Strachan House either for respite or long term occupancy.
Thank you so much Gavin, it's been great to welcome you back here and we are so pleased your friend is happy with the care!
However, the staff who looked after my mother were very good and caring. The management at Strachan House should take a leaf out of their books.
Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. We're sorry for your experience at a difficult time and share our sincere condolences with you. We understand the importance of timely communication, and are sorry that you didn't receive the sad news from other family members promptly. Our staff...
Top of my list has to be the staff team: all so friendly, helpful, caring, positive, courteous - with relatives as well as residents. They include very experienced professionals, and excellent staff ratios, but what's especially warming is the lovely collaborative relationship between the different individuals at all levels. The warmth is palpable and infectious.
Care is indeed bespoke, but it's much more than that. In a quiet, understated way these empathetic staff monitor and encourage and facilitate and allow space for individual choice. Whatever training is given across the board should be marketed to the industry! Top marks from me.
Thank you so much Hazel. I am so pleased that you enjoy your visits here and we're truly overwhelmed by your wonderful review. Our team love to receive positive feedback and they are so proud of the care they give here.
The mix of activities, the good food, the caring staff and the high level of care all give me the reassurance and confidence that my aunt is getting the right care for her needs.
Thank you so much Alistair for the review. It has been great getting to know your Aunt and you and we love having her here with us. I am so pleased you chose us and hope your Aunt continues to enjoy all the activities we do here and the food of course!
Mum moved in at the start of March and I have been so impressed with Strachan House. The care, diligence and positivity of staff, their dedication and support of residents and family members is exceptional. The team of staff communicate brilliantly with each other and families. The range of activities and the beautiful, safe and clean facilities are wonderful. It made a heartbreaking decision less stressful, knowing she is safe and cared for by a very caring, professional team who help so much and support you at every stage. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this review Rebecca. We have all loved getting to know mum and you and have really enjoyed the musical touch you have brought to our home. Thank you for choosing Strachan House to support your mum.
My parents were welcomed into Strachan House Care Home on Monday 27th April. They had visited this home before and have always loved it. The home has beautiful gardens and a very welcoming feel. The staff are very caring and attentive and friendly. The clerical staff are always there to answer any questions and they really make you feel at home which is what its all about.
Thank you so much for your review. It has been great getting to know your parents and you over the past year, we cant wait to spend more time with your parents. Your feedback means so much to us here. Thank you for choosing Strachan House.
Our friend was a resident at Strachan House for 18 months. During that time he was treated with nothing but respect and friendship. He kept his dignity throughout his stay. We could not fault the care given to him by the staff in any way at all.
Thank you so much for your review. We loved spending time with your friend here, he brought us so much joy. Thank you again for choosing Strachan House and for all the laughs we had.
I enjoy my visits - staff are welcoming, friendly and kind.
I feel confident my dad is getting good care. The nursing team keep me informed of any concerns - sometimes when I visit or by telephone - this is appreciated and I often get informal updates when I visit.
There is a pleasant, well presented dining room which is carefully set for meals- like a small restaurant - with table cloths, menu choices and flowers.
The residents sitting room provides a homely hub on the ground floor- residents come and go - they are not left isolated in their own room -There are daily planned activities including outside speakers, music events, pet visits + thete was a wonderful summer garden festival.
The residents rooms are small but can be arranged to suit the resident

Now six months after my friend moved in it feels like an extended family .
The atmosphere is full of joy and laughter.
The team are very supportive to residents and visitors alike.
The professional yet friendly up- dates by phone are greatly appreciated regarding health or concern up- dates. This is even more important given the distance a relative needs to travel to visit.
We thank you all for giving us peace of mind that our Loved ones are being cared for in such a caring supportive manner.

Lovely atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and friendly, they keep me regularly informed. My cousin seems on the whole to be much happier since becoming a resident last July. He was a huge challenge at the beginning, but the staff coped extremely well. It has been such a relief to me to see him much improved in his demeanour.

The team are fantastic and it's obvious from all our interactions that my father's care and well-being are priority. We have complete confidence from the way the home is presented, the communications we receive and general helpfulness of everyone, that my father is very well cared for. He is happy which is the best feedback we can give.

I would like to thank Barchester Strachan House Care Home, Edinburgh and the staff who care for my mum. The care she receives is exceptional. The home is warm, clean and inviting and the staff are very friendly and always smile when I visit. There are plenty of activities organised for the residents and I've never heard my mum being bored. The care staff pay a lot of attention to detail and my mum's needs are always met with respect and dignity. Food is of good quality and if Mum fancies a glass of wine with her evening meal she gets it. I rate this care home very high. Nothing but a positive experience.

My father has been a resident in the Memory Lane section of Barchester Strachan House Care Home for three months now and is thriving despite his advanced dementia. He loves to spend time in the safely enclosed garden, enjoys the activities and is eating well. The staff are caring, kind and respectful, engaging with the residents as individuals and always take time to discuss his needs and care with us. The management team is flexible, supportive and empathetic as we navigate this journey as a family and I really feel that he couldn't be in better hands.

I have found Strachan House to be a very pleasant and welcoming home for my very elderly parents, both of whom entered Strachan House due to their Alzheimer's. Upon my Mother's death, I found the staff to be extremely sensitive and loving. Strachan House has caring staff led by a leadership team who set a great example and encourage a down-to-earth approach to the care and well-being of the residents and concern for their families.

The staff are incredibly kind and caring to my father who is in the dementia area. My father needs constant attention, hygiene, and assistance with meals this is carried out with the minimum of fuss. Music seems to be the one thing that my father relates to, so it's good to see him happy and enjoying himself at these moments.

Hi, my name is Frances, and I am General Manager here at Strachan House Care Home. I look forward to welcoming you into our home.
Thank you for taking the time to look further into what Strachan House has to offer to you or your loved one.
Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.
I have worked within the care home sector since 2010, even working as a student nurse at Strachan House at the very start of my career. I will bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to the home.
Quality of care that all my residents receive is my passion and I aim to ensure that all the residents in my care receive the best, person-centred care.
If you are looking for care for yourself or a loved one, please do get in touch and I look forward to welcoming you to our home, you’re always welcome!

Karol has been a much-valued member of the Strachan House since 2020.
He speaks fondly and with warmth about the family feel of the home, not just with his colleagues but also extending to the residents and their families.

Daria has been a part of the Strachan family since 2006 and works in the home as part of the team of Nurses and is our Unit Nurse Manager.
She speaks with great enthusiasm about the family dynamic of the home, and how Strachan House is a family that takes great joy and pride in looking after our residents and giving them the highest quality of life.

My name is Claire, I am from London and have been working as a nurse since 2012 and since 2022 with Barchester. I have started a family and returned recently from maternity leave as a senior nurse. I thoroughly enjoy working with the team and residents here at Strachan, every day is different and everyone is exceptionally kind and caring.

Linda has been a part of the Strachan House family since July 2022,
She speaks proudly about her role as the home administrator saying it is a privilege to meet and support new residents and their families at what can be an incredibly difficult time for them.
Linda says she feels incredibly fortunate to be a part of such an incredible team of colleagues at Strachan House.

Hello, My name is Paul Dow and I am the Head Chef here at Strachan House, I joined the team at Strachan House in July 2021 and I bring 30 years of experience with me. I trained as a chef in an army kitchen before venturing into the hospitality industry in Foxton working in a hotel in Hythe.
I then moved to Edinburgh to work in a high-class restaurant and stayed with the same company for 24 years before joining the team here at Strachan House. I look forward to my new adventure of getting to know the residents and providing them with a high standard of food as they so deserve.

I have worked in Strachan House since 2014. I first started as a carer before moving on to activities, which I really enjoyed. I started working in reception at the beginning of 2019 and with any new role you are forever learning. I believe I now have the best of both worlds as I work 3 days in reception and 2 days on activities. This allows me to spend some quality time with our residents and enhance their day-to-day lifestyle. I am passionate about my roles within the home.

Gary has been a member of the Strachan House family since 2022.
He takes great satisfaction in his maintenance role and says that every day presents a different challenge.

Heather is proud to be the Head Housekeeper at Strachan House alongside her team of incredibly passionate Housekeepers and Laundry Assistants.
