My father has been at Barchester Strachan House Care Home for over four years and the care he has received has been excellent throughout. He is now in the dedicated dementia unit, Memory Lane, where he receives specialised care for Alzheimer's disease. Every single member of staff is excellent, caring, warm and cheerful! Individual needs and interests are met and catered for. The home itself is warm, welcoming, clean and tidy. It has lovely, large gardens which allow residents to safely enjoy the outdoors. I have complete peace of mind knowing my father is being well cared for.

All relevant issues were covered and a copy of the report emailed to me.
Overall, the care home seemed busy and with lots happening and a planned curriculum of events.

Mum has always been treated with dignity and respect, the whole team who work with my mum have got to know her needs and is always happy to try and make her as comfortable and happy as possible. The gardens are beautiful and the home is clean and very comfortable. I can honestly say that since Mum came to Strachan House, I have slept soundly knowing that she is in safe hands. Thank you to your amazing team.

My wife has been a resident in the dementia section of the home for the past 12 months. Over that period, all the natural fears and concerns that arise from placing a loved one in the full-time care of others have been resolved as a result of the exceptional care which she receives from all the staff. The empathy, patience and professionalism that they show to all the residents, often in trying circumstances, is quite remarkable. It is a relief and pleasure to see my wife so happily settled and secure in her new surroundings. All the facilities and medical back-up provided by the home are first class and the whole team ensures that the operation runs smoothly and efficiently.

Strachan House is set in beautiful grounds and inside this lovely home is nicely decorated, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Without exception, all members of the team are kind, friendly, welcoming and above all, highly professional in their delivery of care. They take a genuine interest in the individual residents and their families. I believe the culture of kindness and exceptional care is set by the manager who takes a keen interest in every aspect of the running of the home. Facilities are also excellent! Would recommend Strachan House to looking for the best care.

My husband was admitted six weeks ago and has received very good care. We find the staff caring, professional and patient. Strachan House and the whole staff all show concern for us both. The manager should be proud of how well his team, the whole team are doing. Thank you.

Strachan House Care Home is a lovely warm, friendly and caring home. My first impressions were very positive. All the staff are welcoming and cheerful. Mum enjoyed her two-week respite so much, she returned four days later as a permanent resident. She has made friends and enjoys taking part in the activities and being looked after. There is always someone to chat to.

The property being purpose-built is very user friendly with all facilities in good condition, it exudes a homely atmosphere from the moment you come through the front door.
My mother's stay was sadly a short one, but I know that her time at Strachan was a happy one and my family appreciated the efforts of all the staff to make it that way.

We needed a respite break and were pleased that Strachan House had space and was flexible about dates. We had looked around the home some 30 yrs ago and had since followed its fine reputation locally. For 10 days my wife was happy with the kind friendship, and I was delighted to see the homely ambience and well-organized care she enjoyed.
I will not hesitate to seek another respite break at Strachan House. Occasional respite will help me to continue as sole carer for as long as possible. However, as we are both 81 and her dementia progresses, it is reassuring to know that permanent care may be available there in due course.

Wonderful care home. My husband has been coming here for respite care for the last few years and he absolutely loves it. Being very disabled and not able to do anything for himself he requires a high level of care. Not only does he get that here the staff also try to involve him in as many activities as possible, which he really enjoys. I really can't praise Barchester Strachan House Care Home and staff highly enough. It is just so nice for me to be able to step back and get a well needed rest and know my husband is in safe hands and having a ball.

My aunt lived in Strachan House for several years and I cannot praise the entire team highly enough for the exceptional care she received every day and for the happy and content life that she lived and enjoyed whilst a resident in the home. Strachan House was her home and that's exactly how she felt, at home which is a credit to every staff member working flawlessly together to create such a fabulous atmosphere with the resident and their wellbeing always being the priority. My family and I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to every member of the Strachan House team for the care, respect and dignity given to my aunt over many years, which was equally shown to all my aunt's family and friends, which is not only greatly appreciated but also the sign of an outstanding care home. Thank you all.

I was a bit perturbed when my aunt first came into the home and did not seem to be settling. The change in the last two weeks has been amazing and she seems to be very happy in her new home, which is down to you and your team.

We are extremely happy with the care that my father, a dementia sufferer, is receiving at Strachan House Care Home. The staff have been, and are, excellent with him and living there has rejuvenated him. He appears to be eating well and thoroughly enjoying the various activities. He is cheery and chatty when we visit him. Overall, we are very pleased.

The staff have been tremendous. Mum took some time to adjust to living in residential care, having been self-sufficient previously. Mum has been helped to make the change, and she has made quite a number of friends.

Our mother has now been in Barchester Strachan House Care Home for a couple of months. The staff are very approachable and friendly and have taken the time to try and make this difficult transition easier for her. The home itself is well laid out, comfortable and clean and with a lovely garden, and we feel that our mother is being well looked after and supported.
Thank you for your lovely review. It's great to hear your mother is settling in well at Strachan House. Feedback is always appreciated, and I will be sure to pass on your positive comments to the team.
House located in lovely gardens, staff very helpful. Rooms very small. Facilities lack a shower or bath in ensuite. Food could be more appealing. Activites good. Safety seems satisfactory. Poor value for money.

Last June when I was no longer able to cope on my own, I knew where I should go. My father-in-law had been a patient here for some time. The garden is exceptional, having been cultivated over many years with a sheltered area to the south with many seats. There are two handymen who will arrange any furniture you require and hanging family portraits! There is a hairdresser available, along with a chiropodist. I am still happy with my original choice.

Hi, my name is Frances, and I am General Manager here at Strachan House Care Home. I look forward to welcoming you into our home.
Thank you for taking the time to look further into what Strachan House has to offer to you or your loved one.
Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.
I have worked within the care home sector since 2010, even working as a student nurse at Strachan House at the very start of my career. I will bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to the home.
Quality of care that all my residents receive is my passion and I aim to ensure that all the residents in my care receive the best, person-centred care.
If you are looking for care for yourself or a loved one, please do get in touch and I look forward to welcoming you to our home, you’re always welcome!

Karol has been a much-valued member of the Strachan House since 2020.
He speaks fondly and with warmth about the family feel of the home, not just with his colleagues but also extending to the residents and their families.

Daria has been a part of the Strachan family since 2006 and works in the home as part of the team of Nurses and is our Unit Nurse Manager.
She speaks with great enthusiasm about the family dynamic of the home, and how Strachan House is a family that takes great joy and pride in looking after our residents and giving them the highest quality of life.

My name is Claire, I am from London and have been working as a nurse since 2012 and since 2022 with Barchester. I have started a family and returned recently from maternity leave as a senior nurse. I thoroughly enjoy working with the team and residents here at Strachan, every day is different and everyone is exceptionally kind and caring.

Linda has been a part of the Strachan House family since July 2022,
She speaks proudly about her role as the home administrator saying it is a privilege to meet and support new residents and their families at what can be an incredibly difficult time for them.
Linda says she feels incredibly fortunate to be a part of such an incredible team of colleagues at Strachan House.

Hello, My name is Paul Dow and I am the Head Chef here at Strachan House, I joined the team at Strachan House in July 2021 and I bring 30 years of experience with me. I trained as a chef in an army kitchen before venturing into the hospitality industry in Foxton working in a hotel in Hythe.
I then moved to Edinburgh to work in a high-class restaurant and stayed with the same company for 24 years before joining the team here at Strachan House. I look forward to my new adventure of getting to know the residents and providing them with a high standard of food as they so deserve.

I have worked in Strachan House since 2014. I first started as a carer before moving on to activities, which I really enjoyed. I started working in reception at the beginning of 2019 and with any new role you are forever learning. I believe I now have the best of both worlds as I work 3 days in reception and 2 days on activities. This allows me to spend some quality time with our residents and enhance their day-to-day lifestyle. I am passionate about my roles within the home.

Gary has been a member of the Strachan House family since 2022.
He takes great satisfaction in his maintenance role and says that every day presents a different challenge.

Heather is proud to be the Head Housekeeper at Strachan House alongside her team of incredibly passionate Housekeepers and Laundry Assistants.
Heather takes great pride in ensuring the home is always at its best for our resident's comfort and to help them feel at home and at ease.
