Having had excellent NHS hospital treatment 14 months ago, I was worried as to where I would be moved for long-term care. The family looked around and luckily found me a room here. There was everything I needed and more. A team of physiotherapists are included and provide customised exercise and gym programmes for you. Three-course meals with choices for lunch and dinner, plus a glad of your favourite drink. Mealtimes were too early for me but I soon adapted. My progress was not good (heart failure) 14 months ago but thanks to the care from all who run the happy ship that is Strachan House, I am still able to write this note today.

My mum has been in Barchester Strachan House now for 3 years and has been well looked after by the staff all the facilities have been excellent and there is some lovely gardens for her to walk round it is important to me that at this stage of her life she is well looked after. Thanks to all the staff for their dedication and hard work especially in the year that we have just had.

Thank you from all the staff and residents of Strachan House for this lovely review.
My mother and a friend of mine have both been residents at Strachan. They have both been very happy there and have felt completely at home. The standard of care is excellent and delivered in a calm and compassionate manner. There is always something to keep their interest, be it activities, visitors, meal times, enjoying the beautiful surroundings, or relaxing in their room. The ethos is that it is the resident's home and the staff are there to help. I can recommend Strachan wholeheartedly.

Exception care of my mother through Covid with every effort made to keep relationship with her as close as regulations allowed. Move to memory lane handled exceptionally well and at right time. When she was very willing to accept the extra help and security it offered with the sun back out in the wonderful gardens for a visit which is great for both of us.

Given the events of the last 9 months and having seen how well this house is run, I felt I needed to write a review. Strachan House is such an oasis of calm in today's hectic and worrying world. The manager and her staff do amazing work, especially just now currently under such trying circumstances. The residents are really well cared for and the house is immaculate - it is such a kind, warm and welcoming environment. I would not hesitate to recommend Strachan House to anyone.

I have been a volunteer at Strachan House for numerous weeks and I have enjoyed my experience with the residents and staff. The activities team who I have been volunteering with have been wonderful and every week I have been coming to do my volunteering I have had a different activity. I do however enjoy playing scrabble with the residents. We have had a good laugh. I have a place at uni and am saddened by having to end my volunteering at Strachan House. I feel I was very welcomed and included to be such a great part of their team. I have truly loved my experience at Strachan House.

My father has been at Strachan House for around six months now and I have found the standard of care he's received to be excellent. The staff are compassionate, caring and professional and have strived to meet my fathers needs especially during times when visiting was not allowed. I know my father is being well cared for in a comfortable and homely environment.

Strachan House has provided outstanding levels of care and assistance to my husband over the past two years. Leaving someone you love with complete strangers is desperately difficult, but since the first day, the staff have been exceptionally kind and thoughtful and Strachan has become his home. I've been pleased to note that every member of staff, at every level, has always been friendly and helpful to residents and visitors. Many of the staff go the extra mile for the residents, thinking of things that might interest them and taking the time to talk to them and spend time with them which means they don't feel lonely. The activities and physio classes are a huge part of the day at Strachan, with imaginative staff managing to find a long list of things for residents to participate in and enjoy. Lockdown has been very hard, but I've had no concerns about the continued care and compassion in Strachan and I'm greatly relieved that my husband is as safe as he can be there.

Very positive, professional initial contact with managers. Reassurance was given when needed and my husband treated with dignity. After the initial reluctance to be left, my husband settled in very well and was happy and occupied. It was a positive experience of respite care which we hope to repeat. Lovely to see how fond the staff were of my husband and how positively he talked when he came home.

Hi, my name is Frances, and I am General Manager here at Strachan House Care Home. I look forward to welcoming you into our home.
Thank you for taking the time to look further into what Strachan House has to offer to you or your loved one.
Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.
I have worked within the care home sector since 2010, even working as a student nurse at Strachan House at the very start of my career. I will bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to the home.
Quality of care that all my residents receive is my passion and I aim to ensure that all the residents in my care receive the best, person-centred care.
If you are looking for care for yourself or a loved one, please do get in touch and I look forward to welcoming you to our home, you’re always welcome!

Karol has been a much-valued member of the Strachan House since 2020.
He speaks fondly and with warmth about the family feel of the home, not just with his colleagues but also extending to the residents and their families.

Daria has been a part of the Strachan family since 2006 and works in the home as part of the team of Nurses and is our Unit Nurse Manager.
She speaks with great enthusiasm about the family dynamic of the home, and how Strachan House is a family that takes great joy and pride in looking after our residents and giving them the highest quality of life.

My name is Claire, I am from London and have been working as a nurse since 2012 and since 2022 with Barchester. I have started a family and returned recently from maternity leave as a senior nurse. I thoroughly enjoy working with the team and residents here at Strachan, every day is different and everyone is exceptionally kind and caring.

Linda has been a part of the Strachan House family since July 2022,
She speaks proudly about her role as the home administrator saying it is a privilege to meet and support new residents and their families at what can be an incredibly difficult time for them.
Linda says she feels incredibly fortunate to be a part of such an incredible team of colleagues at Strachan House.

Hello, My name is Paul Dow and I am the Head Chef here at Strachan House, I joined the team at Strachan House in July 2021 and I bring 30 years of experience with me. I trained as a chef in an army kitchen before venturing into the hospitality industry in Foxton working in a hotel in Hythe.
I then moved to Edinburgh to work in a high-class restaurant and stayed with the same company for 24 years before joining the team here at Strachan House. I look forward to my new adventure of getting to know the residents and providing them with a high standard of food as they so deserve.

I have worked in Strachan House since 2014. I first started as a carer before moving on to activities, which I really enjoyed. I started working in reception at the beginning of 2019 and with any new role you are forever learning. I believe I now have the best of both worlds as I work 3 days in reception and 2 days on activities. This allows me to spend some quality time with our residents and enhance their day-to-day lifestyle. I am passionate about my roles within the home.

Gary has been a member of the Strachan House family since 2022.
He takes great satisfaction in his maintenance role and says that every day presents a different challenge.

Heather is proud to be the Head Housekeeper at Strachan House alongside her team of incredibly passionate Housekeepers and Laundry Assistants.
Heather takes great pride in ensuring the home is always at its best for our resident's comfort and to help them feel at home and at ease.
