Overall Experience
After the long protracted death of his wife of 55 years, my Dad lost over a third of his body weight. This had a detrimental effect on his mental outlook on life unsettling his dementia as winter approached. After only 2 months of the Merino's 6 meals a day not only has he regained weight but he is enjoying books again! His favourite picture is up in his room which looks out onto quite a busy street and, his mental focus and interest in life has returned.

Now, 9 months on, he is quite happy with the daily routine and the odd bit of entertainment/ pony visits and the occasional visitor. The peace of mind this has given me makes the care fees, which are lower end of what I found out there, worth every penny! Having sampled the food and on site baking myself I can see why he has put the weight back on. I cannot thank the Merino enough for transforming Dad's life but also giving me my life back and with peace of mind that he is well cared for and, with dementia, as happy as he is able.

My mum has been in Merino Court for a few months now. The staff are wonderful and my mum has settled well. They care about their residents and it’s apparent in everything they do. Doesn’t matter the time of day I visit but I am always welcomed. Staff have got to know my mum but as well as getting to know her, they have taken the time to get to know her family too. There is strong leadership and the support from everyone in helping Mum settle has been fantastic. It’s her home and they make it feel like her home. I have experience of many homes through various family members over the years and Merino for me stands out. Putting a family member in a home is a very difficult decision but my mum is safe, cared for, respected and looked after and couldn’t ask for better.

My gran was in the Frail and Elderly unit of the home and was treated with the most respect and dignity, she was indeed spoilt by staff, the staff were attentive and caring. Amazing home. My granda was also in the Home and he also had the best care following 2 other placements failing.

The staff are excellent, friendly and approachable. The manager is excellent, listens to concerns. The room is spotless, can't fault it. My mum is clean and tidy, she is included in all activities. Excellent holistic care. I'm delighted and have peace of mind. The food is superb with great choices. Best decision I have made. Mum appears settled and I have peace of mind. The staff are chatty and helpful - a lovely home.

Management and staff are friendly and approachable. Everyone in the home is kind to my mum and very considerate of her wishes. She is well cared for by staff who appear genuinely fond of her, many of whom will share anecdotes of her behaviour and activities with me. I don't have to worry about mum anymore now she is there.

The leadership is excellent and available too. It really is a home from home for our Mum and we are so happy she is there. Thank you.

Merino Court is excellent. The staff always know how my mum's kept, how she is each day and what she is enjoying - the live singers - she loves them! The staff are truly amazing; admin, management, nurses, carers, cleaners, and laundry. Mum loves the food too. She is happy here - arrived a year ago. We have peace of mind that Mum is so well cared for.

While Mum was a resident in Merino Court Care Home, she was well cared for. All the staff were wonderful and eager to help, and I knew Mum was safe. They always informed me if there was any change in Mum, and I can't thank them enough for all their help.

After hospitalisation, our father's health would be non-recovery. we had to make a decision on his personal care plan. We looked at various accommodations before reaching a decision that he would reside within this establishment on visiting here we felt that this was the place that would make Dad feel at home whilst receiving the best care available As a family, we made the correct decision. Our father was given the due care and attention that we craved when he needed to be comfortable. From the first moment Dad arrived, he was given 100% attention from all departments nothing was ever a problem or issue for these people and over and above. When our Dad's health deteriorated in any way we were informed instantly and given the required information with regards to any treatments given to our dad the staff gave 100% care and attention to our Mum in Dad's final days and the support she received was outstanding, 100% would highly recommend this lovely place when considering care options.

Overall Experience

Over the seven years that our relative was a resident we found that the team at Merino Court worked exceptionally hard 24/7 to ensure the residents were experiencing the very best of care. Our relative settled very quickly and soon the staff were like an extension of our family. The mix of skills and caring attributes in the staff meant he was always comfortable, safe, secure and his wishes were respected. All his needs were met with kindness, patience and care. Communication was good and we felt we were always updated and consulted. As a family, we felt very well looked after and supported, especially in the last few weeks of his life. With much gratitude and respect for your hard, hard-working team I wish to say a very inadequate thank you.

My husband was taken into care in September and he received the best care and attention from the staff. Always there when needed we are a bit upset that we are having to take my husband out to another care home due to being a bit of a journey for the family. We just hope he settles well, so a big thank you to all the staff and all the cups of tea to heat me up! Will miss you all.
