July 2025 the delay in writing this report is I had to wait for the outcome of inspection from Care Inspectorate two of my complaints upheld. Every visit he was sitting wet. Lies told that his GP had issued creams GP has no record, No bed rails. Staff couldn't name his carer in leu TV was given 3 days before discharge no remote control He had to stand over his loo hold onto a diagonal rail to be washed Lies told in number of baths he had Shoddy paperwork or none at all. The manager even took Umbridge and refused to answer my questions and decided to stop writing to avoid having to answer the above points lacking in my husband's care That was when I took advice from Care Inspectorate. I was assured he would be well taken care of We were both badly let down Lies Lies and more Lies!
Thank you for your feedback regarding the respite stay in July 2025. While concerns were raised with the Care Inspectorate, several statements within this review are inaccurate and reflect a misunderstanding of care home legislation and the differences between residential, hospital, and family-led...
My mum was in for 3 weeks respite care. She was very reluctant to go in. She had great carers and was looked after very well. When I went to pick her up she didn't want to leave. The place was very clean. Cant thank them enough for their care.
I had to call for staff on several occasions when ,residents were either upset or got into an altercation . There is a residents TV room where they are gathered up sat on big chairs or strapped into wheelchairs i seen as meany as 17 residents with one carer in charge if anyone stood up he quickly went over to sit them back down to watch the boy band on TV .i asked a few times why my aunts feet were so swollen no one knew turns out no feet rest on wheelchair she was strapped into . Two men were taking her to the toilet . I found her in bed at 6.30pm fully clothed with a quilt and a blanket as well as a heater on in her room said she was tired. Dont think i was expected to visit again that day after a meeting that morning .the place is a sham anyone can walk in and out no checks . meany items go missing even though they had name on including clothes ,and eye glasses management a joke !! Could go on & on.
The care given to my mum by all nursing and care staff is 100%. The rooms etc are spotless. A very clean atmosphere. I rate Northgate House Care Home "5 Star". My mum is so content.
The staff are exceptionally professional, pleasant, and patient. I phoned often and never has there been a problem. I always receive updated feedback on her progress. The Manager is extremely knowledgeable of her residents and is respectful of questions posed.
Excellent rapport from all staff.
My mother has been very poorly in hospital and was transferred to Northgate awaiting medical review and assessment regarding transition and residential care. The carers have been outstanding in their care of my mother. Nothing is too much trouble for them and their love of what they do is evident. My mother feels valued and supported and feels independent due to Northgate's encouragement for her to be active and involved. My mother is delighted by their care.
Management and staff are excellent.
Staff very friendly and helpful very tidy and neat rooms. Very good.
In the last five years, my sister has been here, I came to visit twice weekly with her wee dog and was always treated very well by all the staff, who were friendly. It is nice to know she is being looked after by staff, and one lady, who has always been so helpful.
My mother-in-law is in the Martha Unit in interim care, so I can't comment on value for money or rooms. I have been in the care home only once but what I can say is when you arrive, you smell cleanliness throughout the care home. The staff I met were exceptional, I did not meet the management. A well-run home with excellent staff, well done.
My mum is in interim care at the moment to get assessed so I can't comment on value for money or rooms. The moment I stepped into the home, the atmosphere was exceptional from management to carers, cleaning staff etc. What a wonderful home with wonderful caring staff. Staff make care homes and this set of staff go beyond their jobs. This home and staff are a credit to HC-One's portfolio of care homes.
My dad had been in this care home for 2 years. Due to covid and visiting restrictions, like everyone else, it was a very hard first year. Since the new manager took over the management of this care home, I have had nothing but support from her. My dad took ill a few months back and the manager and staff in the mungo unit, including domestics were by our side every day until the end. Nothing, and I mean nothing was a problem, from supplying us a recliner to sleep on in dad's room, to buying us dinner. The list goes on. I will not miss being part of the care home sector as a family member but I do miss the staff and residents of the mungo unit. Thank you so much from myself and the family for your support this year. It means a lot to us.
Happy knowing mum is safe and being well-fed and well looked after.
This care home is very well set out. Facilities for clients are very good. Staff are friendly, every person you meet is polite, kind, caring and helpful. My friend is happy, well cared for physically and mentally and most importantly feels safe.
Thank you to each and every one of you.
My mum has dementia, is really stubborn and the staff work with mum and the family. Mum gets upset and the staff are very compassionate with my Mum.
My mum has been a resident for 7 years. The only problem I have is the turnover of staff. Considering Covid 19 that seems to be the norm.
Overall good, although few issues with old management. Always room for improvement.
I found all staff friendly and welcoming when visiting my Aunt. I was happy to see how well looked after and content my Aunt was. Staff checked into the room regularly to make sure everything was okay. Staff were very attentive and made me feel very welcome. My Aunt also said the staff were all very nice.
Hi there, from the day my mum was moved into this care home the staff have been wonderful. All questions have been answered when asked and my mum's care has been excellent. The staff went beyond their duties, especially during this difficult Covid period. I want to personally thank them all for the care they provide.
