Douglas View Care Home is located in the heart of Hamilton and offers residents nursing and nursing dementia care in a warm and welcoming environment.

From care assistants and nurses, to wellbeing coordinators and chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is on hand to offer all the support that residents need. Working alongside residents as well as their loved ones, they design personalised and bespoke care plans that help to ensure each person is living life the way they choose, with the peace of mind that their care is always a priority.

Spending time getting to know residents' hobbies and interests allows the team to design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting each person to continue to do the things they love. For residents who are more social, an active involvement in the Hamilton community is also highly encouraged.

A spacious home, Douglas View has a cinema and bar for residents to enjoy as well as a selection of eight sitting rooms, six dining areas, a café and hairdressing salon. The lovely landscaped garden and courtyard, tended by some of the residents, are favourite spots to spend time catching up with friends and family.

I have lived in the home for 12 years and enjoy living here. Staff are friendly and caring and look after me well. They help me by taking me shopping and always involved me in things. The new manager is great and making a big difference. There is more activities happening. We are getting out more and
mixing with more people in the home.

I like living in Douglas View as I am near my sister who lives here. Enjoy having meals with her and going out and about. I enjoy going out in the gardens. The staff support me and my sister to attend our weekly club.

I can’t believe how much of a difference a few months can make, the new manager is a breath of fresh air the staff appear happy and content and my relative is well looked after.
Atmosphere in the home is fabulous, and I wish the new manager had came to Douglas view a long time ago.

I visit a friend on a regular basis. The latest upgrade to the home has been excellent. It feels more homely and the residents seem to be enjoying the improvements. In my experience, the residents are treated well and with dignity. The staff members I have had contact with have been polite and very
friendly. Keep up the good work.

I was visiting my friend today and was amazed how wonderful my friend was treated. She was so happy and excited. The staff are first class. When it's my time, I'll definitely be going there. Lovely home from home, marvellous. Thank you all the staff for looking after my dear friend. I thought it was
going to be hard but you made it a lovely new safe home for her.

When we arrived at Douglas View we were shown my dad's room, luckily a family member knew their way about and took us around to show us. I can't comment on during the day as we, as a family took my dad out each day.
My dad's last night wasn't good, he wouldn't let me leave him and I asked staff to
take him away or distract him for me, but I was told there wasn't enough staff to do that. I phoned my family for support.
This was a terrible experience for us as a family and with it being my dad's first time in respite, we are totally put off ever doing it again.

My mother stays at Douglas View Care Home from March 2016 - May 2017. I have nothing but praise for all staff who cared fro my mum. Especially her last few months. They are a credit to the home.
My mother enjoyed the care and company and loved all the activities that were available. My sincere thanks
to all.

Having worried about now having to put my 86 year old mother into a care home I am very happy I chose Douglas View Care Home after looking at five or six in the area.
Care staff and office staff cannot have been more helpful and I would recommend Douglas View to anyone looking.

My mum has just recently gone into Douglas View (27/3/17) and I can't praise it highly enough on first impressions. The staff are all so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. For the first time since my mum went into hospital, she is now eating better, has started trying to communicate, is being
dressed and spends time in the day room, which is a huge improvement to lying in a bed all day long. I appreciate how difficult this job could be and yet the staff are always smiling and most importantly seem to really 'CARE'. Thank you. Can't wait now to decorate my mum's room. I could write so much more.

Excellent care facilities with excellent staff who engage and are very caring to residents. Meals are of a high quality and are nutritious and appetising. Social activities are excellent and mum has been out to various social venues like restaurants and venues. Home is run to a very high standard and
would be highly recommended by our family.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.851)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.851) out of 10 for Douglas View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.851 for Douglas View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (488 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 562 Ratings = 4.851
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Douglas View Care Home is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 101 registered maximum number of service users is 20.2, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
