Change of management and staff turnover previously now in process of stability.
I myself attempt independence in a lot of areas. This depends on peoples capability which is monitored frequently.

Any changes in circumstances physical or otherwise is noted and acted upon.

I have no complaints. The home overall is very good. The food is very good and the staff are also very good. All in all, I would recommend the home to anyone.

The dementia wards are of a strong urine smell it hits you as you walk through the door. In Avon lounge, it is extremely strong and is right next to the dining room which can't be very nice for the residents to enjoy their meals. Even after new flooring has been put down in the corridors it is still very unpleasant. When I visit my mother, I always take her into the reception area or outside as the smell is too overpowering, this is something that needs to be addressed ASAP!

The staff are very helpful with information about my mother's care which has helped her to settle very quickly.

Douglas View is spotless and the staff are very caring. They do a fabulous job and have a lot of empathy toward my sister and let you know everything that we need to know and it's a great place to give encouragement to cook, do washing etc.

Review from John M (Brother of Resident) published on 22 June 2018 Submitted via Website

My brother is very well looked after by all the staff, he is seen as an individual and part of a large family within the home, it's not a care home IT'S HIS HOME and that's how its managed by management and staff.
The atmosphere within the home since new management came on board is excellent. Open door policy is great to see, something that wasn't there prior to the new manager coming in.
My brother's home is well decorated, no odours.
My brother has been enjoying several trips out with the activity girl, he loves this and enjoys telling me about it when i visit.

Highly recommend Douglas View.

I have lived in the home for 12 years and enjoy living here. Staff are friendly and caring and look after me well. They help me by taking me shopping and always involved me in things. The new manager is great and making a big difference. There is more activities happening. We are getting out more and mixing with more people in the home.

I can’t believe how much of a difference a few months can make, the new manager is a breath of fresh air the staff appear happy and content and my relative is well looked after.

Atmosphere in the home is fabulous, and I wish the new manager had came to Douglas view a long time ago.

I visit a friend on a regular basis. The latest upgrade to the home has been excellent. It feels more homely and the residents seem to be enjoying the improvements. In my experience, the residents are treated well and with dignity. The staff members I have had contact with have been polite and very friendly. Keep up the good work.

I was visiting my friend today and was amazed how wonderful my friend was treated. She was so happy and excited. The staff are first class. When it's my time, I'll definitely be going there. Lovely home from home, marvellous. Thank you all the staff for looking after my dear friend. I thought it was going to be hard but you made it a lovely new safe home for her.

When we arrived at Douglas View we were shown my dad's room, luckily a family member knew their way about and took us around to show us. I can't comment on during the day as we, as a family took my dad out each day.
My dad's last night wasn't good, he wouldn't let me leave him and I asked staff to take him away or distract him for me, but I was told there wasn't enough staff to do that. I phoned my family for support.

This was a terrible experience for us as a family and with it being my dad's first time in respite, we are totally put off ever doing it again.
