Prior to my brother being a resident he lived in a sheltered complex where he lived a very lonely life. (Not mixing, living in flat daily alone) On arrival at Douglas View Care Home his outlook to live has enlightened me immensly. He loves living in his "space" joining in with the organised events. All thanks to the caring and professional staff.

My father was a service user at Douglas View. I couldn't fault the care centre in any way. My father's stay was fantastic from the care that was given, to management who supported me and my father in every which way they could, for which I am extremely grateful.

I have struggled to get used to living in the unit. I was used to living with my mother who did the most for me. The staff are smashing and nice. My room is OK though albeit wee. The food is fine and I have no complaints. I have never eaten so much in my life.

The care and the staff are great along with the activities. The only negatives I have are that sometimes I feel it is a little short staffed. The staff have to spend too much time doing paperwork which I realise is not their fault.

Mixing residents that have slight dementia with residents that only have physical ailments isn't the greatest situation. All staff are great and make a real effort to make the residents feel at home.

I regularly visit my sister in Almada Unit. The unit encourages open visiting and I consistently find the unit to be warm, clean and friendly. There is always sufficient staff who welcome me and assist in any request I have, for example, they have coordinated my sister's birthday which was very helpful.

My brother enjoyed his week's respite at Douglas View. He wishes to return asap! It has greatly improved from his previous stay (2016). The staff are good with him and are most patient. A wee nudge to him to shave and change his clothes would be good.

All in all, a very pleasant experience and we have put his name down for a permanent place as his condition has deteriorated recently.

My mother was resident at Douglas View care home for 1 week respite care from 13th September to 20th September 2018. During that time she was treated with excellent care and dignity by the staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending Douglas View to anyone. The staff were first class and my mother left the home in high spirits. Thank you all staff.
