  • Douglas View Care Home, Hamilton
Douglas View Care Home is located in the heart of Hamilton and offers residents nursing and nursing dementia care in a warm and welcoming environment.

From care assistants and nurses, to wellbeing coordinators and chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is on hand to offer all the support that residents need. Working alongside residents as well as their loved ones, they design personalised and bespoke care plans that help to ensure each person is living life the way they choose, with the peace of mind that their care is always a priority.

Spending time getting to know residents' hobbies and interests allows the team to design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting each person to continue to do the things they love. For residents who are more social, an active involvement in the Hamilton community is also highly encouraged.

A spacious home, Douglas View has a cinema and bar for residents to enjoy as well as a selection of eight sitting rooms, six dining areas, a café and hairdressing salon. The lovely landscaped garden and courtyard, tended by some of the residents, are favourite spots to spend time catching up with friends and family.

I was so pleased with everything about Douglas View Care Home, I would not think twice about using it again. My husband seemed to settle well and enjoyed his stay with you. I will, hopefully, be using you again next year. Thank you all so much for your kindness and care during my husband's stay with
you. Keep up the good work.

Staff working as a team in all the residents best interests. Lots of interaction between residents and staff. Personal care carried out with the individual resident's dignity uppermost in the staff's working practice. There is always laughter and plenty of hugs and affection shown by staff to residents.
Visitors
are warmly welcomed and any concerns dealt with promptly.
As a family, we are delighted with our choice of this home for our loved one.

My mother in law visited Douglas view for a weeks respite. I can't fault the care she received.
She was extremely well cared for by very caring and professional staff. I would not hesitate to use their services again.

My brother recently died after four years of excellent care at Douglas View. I want to thank the amazing, caring staff in the McLelland Unit and more recently in the Cadzow Unit, where he received kind and compassionate end-of-life care.
They went above and beyond on many occasions and I will always
be grateful for the way in which they enhanced his quality of life in his last few years.

The care and support my mother is receiving in this care home has blown me away. The staff are amazing and it is obvious to me the patients are their number one priority. The staff are also very informative and friendly, they always make a point of engaging with relatives and keeping them up to date.
My mother has not been so happy in years, therefore, I know she is being well looked after and is always involved in activities that suit her needs. I can't fault this care home or any of the staff.

Prior to my brother being a resident he lived in a sheltered complex where he lived a very lonely life. (Not mixing, living in flat daily alone) On arrival at Douglas View Care Home his outlook to live has enlightened me immensly. He loves living in his "space" joining in with the organised events.
All thanks to the caring and professional staff.

My father was a service user at Douglas View. I couldn't fault the care centre in any way. My father's stay was fantastic from the care that was given, to management who supported me and my father in every which way they could, for which I am extremely grateful.

I have struggled to get used to living in the unit. I was used to living with my mother who did the most for me. The staff are smashing and nice. My room is OK though albeit wee. The food is fine and I have no complaints. I have never eaten so much in my life.

The care and the staff are great along with the activities. The only negatives I have are that sometimes I feel it is a little short staffed. The staff have to spend too much time doing paperwork which I realise is not their fault.
Mixing residents that have slight dementia with residents that only
have physical ailments isn't the greatest situation. All staff are great and make a real effort to make the residents feel at home.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.851)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.851) out of 10 for Douglas View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.851 for Douglas View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (488 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 562 Ratings = 4.851
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Douglas View Care Home is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 101 registered maximum number of service users is 20.2, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
