My Mum was taken into care at Lornebank in Oct 2022. In the 3 and a half years, we have been very happy with her care and the support she was given. All the staff provided first class service and I always felt that my Mum was in good hands. In her last month of care, she was unable to sit up unaided and remained in her bed. The staff checked on her regularly and looked after her personal hygiene to maintain her dignity. I am a Community Pharmacist and familiar with palliative care medicine. I was with my mum, during her last 48 hours, and I am more than satisfied that medication was administered appropriately.
I really admire the efforts of the care staff and the management team - I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to my family and friends. Regards

Emma

Mum has been in Montrose Gardens since June 2025. Settled in better than expected and enjoys taking part in the activities and entertainment. She enjoys getting her hair done and getting her bath, as was always used to just showers. She has a good relationship with the carers, who always go that little bit extra in helping her with her mobile phone etc.
Has also a good rapport with the other residents in her unit and likes to meet up with other residents from other areas of the home.

There have been a few teething problems, but by sitting down and discussing these issues, we have got them resolved and we are now all on the same page.

My mum moved to Livingstone suite in 2023 as she was high risk of falls and very frail. The Livingstone team cared for her so well and very quickly Lornebank felt like home not only for my mum but for me too. Her room is clean & neat and her clothes are laundered and fresh.

She enjoys activities and has visits from therapy dogs, owls & ponies! My mum celebrated her 100th in September and the reception & activity teams decorated and hosted a birthday party with 80 family and friends that was a joy for everyone. I doubt she would have reached this milestone without the nursing, dedication and love of all the wonderful staff at Lornebank. I am very grateful to all the staff and now am reassured that my mum is cared for 24/7.

Reply from Rishi Sujeewon, Home Manager at Lornebank Care Centre

I just to say a big thank you for your feedback and how mum has settled within Livingstone unit. Your feedback will be shared with staff and I am sure they will appreciate the positive comments. Thank you Marion.

Lornbank care home are taking very good care of my mother. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful at all times, and the atmosphere is very calm and, most of all, happy!.My mother has settled in very well, and has lots of residents as
friends, and sees all the staff also as her friends.
The building is always immaculately clean and tidy, and their are lots of activities, hair dressing days, etc.
My mother has very limited mobility - and the staff
are always their when she needs help / toileting , etc.

I honestly think that Lornbank is a fantastic facility, and my mother really enjoys being their.

Mum has been a resident at Lornebank since January 2025. We visited four care homes in the Hamilton area, Lornebank instantly felt right, Annemarie and Emma who gave us a tour were friendly and helpful and made our decision to choose Lornebank easy.
Mum has thrived since going to stay at Lornebank, she has put on weight, she takes part in all the various activities and has even been out on visits.

The staff are so friendly and attentive to mums needs, nothing seems to be a bother to them. I think having people around her all the time and all the activities on offer has certainly given mum a new lease of life. For me it has taken all the worry away, knowing mum is being so well looked after 24/7.

Hi Carolyn. We really appreciate the positive feedback and your understanding of mum' s care needs. Your comments will be extremely well received by staff and this is always a motivational factor for them as we sometimes do not realise the hard work that goes behind the scene. Having moved my dad from another care home in March this year, my sister and I were anxious about him settling. The staff in my dad's unit in Lornebank have really got to know my dad and his 'ways'. They have quickly learned what matters to him and treat him with respect and dignity. They continually strive to find ways to help my dad both emotionally and physically. The staff show compassion and understanding to my dad and the family. Particular attention is given to ensure fluids are taken on board and regularly encourage eating and drinking when my dad needs prompts. We are very grateful for their efforts

Based on a telephone consultation with hospital my mum was assessed as requiring Peacock unit - this was entirely incorrect. She's been placed in Linden Lea unit, in a lovely room, I'm still not sure this is the best place, time will tell.

The carers we've met have been responsive and very caring but there are simply not enough carers in Linden Lea, this should be addressed to meet the needs of the people there - this is my biggest concern during the week my mum's been a resident. Activities look great but it appears that it's up to family to ensure my mum gets to participate.

Mum moved to Lornebank about 4 weeks ago from another care home. The reason she moved is that we were unhappy with the care being provided at her previous home. I have found that everyone is friendly and welcoming from the receptionist, domestic staff, and kitchen staff to the nursing staff.
She is in the Livingstone unit which is a small unit with only 10 female residents and usually the same members of staff on duty which ensures consistency of care.
The home itself is bright, airy and very clean.
There are many activities taking place which she is encouraged to participate in.
She herself appears to be happy with her surroundings.
She is always clean and dry and appears well cared for.
A menu is put on the board daily.
All in all, I am very happy with the care being provided. The location is good for family visits and some shops and restaurants nearby if the weather is suitable for getting her out.

Would not hesitate to recommend this care home to others.

It was a daunting experience having to look for a suitable care home for my mother. But after visiting Lornebank Care Centre and being greeted by a staff member at the reception it was an easy choice. We visited two other homes, but they did not even come close to Lornebank. During our visit, all the various parts of the centre were explained and we were advised as to which section mum would be best suited. All the staff were very cheerful and easy to engage with. It was a bit of a heartache taking her there and leaving her for the first day. But the staff were very reassuring that she would settle and they would keep an eye on her. So far she has only asked about three times "When am I going home". All the staff at Lornebank are first rate and we feel happy mum is with such caring professional people.

Lornebank was an easy choice for us when Mum's dementia became too difficult for us to cope with in the family home. We visited several care homes in the Hamilton area, and Lornebank felt right when we saw the facilities and spoke to the staff. Mum has been resident here now for around a year, and we're very happy with the care and attention she's received during that time. Not only that, there are plenty of activities and events to keep her interactive and engaged with those around her.

Dad had a stay of just over 2 weeks at Lornebank to allow for a wet room to be fitted in his home. The manager was very helpful in arranging the stay and the team welcomed my dad and his family into the Peacock Wing. It was great being able to visit at any time and we even managed to celebrate my mum’s birthday with my dad in his room. Dad was well taken care of and particularly enjoyed having the facilities on hand to have regular showers, supported by the staff team looking after him. My mum was treated very kindly by the staff and felt comfortable visiting every day and spending time with my dad. Unfortunately, the heating was stuck on high in my dad’s room and was still waiting to be fixed when we left, which made the room quite uncomfortably warm at times but staff were vigilant in opening windows for my dad when needed.

My mum has been residing in Lornebank since June 2023 and the level of care she receives is excellent. The communication from staff is also excellent. The daily menu always offers various meals. My brother settled into Lornebank very quickly, following a traumatic stay at a previous care home. From the moment he arrived, his care was assessed and needs implemented quickly. Staff are very attentive to both the needs of the resident and family. The unit is calm, organised and happy, which gives the family confidence. We have the freedom to visit as we need and never feel as if we are intruding on the routine of the unit.
