My Mum moved here from another nursing home where she had been for a couple of months.
My family and I are amazed at the difference here at the Claremont in Ayr.
The home is lovely and clean, with such caring staff who really do treat my mum with dignity and respect.
The food is fantastic and Mum
can choose from the menu or just opt for sandwiches, omelette or even just a bowl of ice cream, whatever she asks for they will do their best to sort it for her.
Mum felt so happy to have had her hair done and nails painted by her carer who helps her pick her outfit for the day.
Mum loves the daily entertainments and of course the coffee and cakes.
Most important of all is that my mum has found her smile again.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, to one and all at the Claremont.

Researched numerous care homes in the area and Claremont came out tops. My mother who has Lewy body dementia cannot communicate either orally or written. She is also totally immobile. All Claremont staff look after my mother with excellent care, compassion and understanding. My mother also requires
to be fed. I am kept fully updated by all staff on changes in my mother's condition. Choosing Claremont for Mother was a fantastic family decision. I have no concerns.

Our family researched many care homes before choosing Claremont for our Mum - a fantastic decision. From day one, all the staff went out of their way to make our whole family welcome to our Mum's new home. Throughout her stay, this excellent standard of care continued and she was very contented. We
as a family were always made welcome and were kept up to date with Mum's wellbeing and any changes in her condition. In the last couple of weeks of her life, we were treated with warmth and compassion by all the staff. Mum died at 4.50am on 19th December - the night staff informed us at 3am - letting us have time with Mum before she died. Our heartfelt thanks to the manager and all the staff.

My wife has been a resident since August 2018. I find the facilities very good. She is well looked after and both she and her surroundings are always clean. The staff are all excellent, friendly and cheerful. My wife is not always the easiest to cope with but the staff take it all in their stride. Food
is very good. I would have no qualms in recommending Claremont to anyone.

All care staff very good but they seem to change a lot. In general, the home seems to be well organised and efficient. Would be good if nurses could sit in on doctor visits, to ensure all medical conditions are being relayed to doctors.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such positive feedback about Claremont. We try to maintain staff continuity in each unit but at times we need to make some changes to ensure each unit is safely staffed but do appreciate that this is not ideal.
When a resident is seen by their GP, a trained member of staff is always present, unless the resident requests a private consultation. In that instance, the GP would then pass on all relevant information to the trained staff member.

The care my dad receives is excellent. He has put on weight and is content and happy he has company and supervision 24 hours a day, which allows us to get to our work and have a normal life.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such positive feedback about Claremont. Every month our key workers devise a list of activities that are meaningful to each resident and these are carried out on resident of the day. Activity staff meet with residents every month and discuss previous and future activities. They then devise a programme of weekly and monthly activities from residents' feedback. We encourage all residents to participate in activities and we do try to cater for all 80 residents.

Paperwork for staff appears to be excessive. There is sometimes a delay in gaining entry at night. Staff are patient and attentive with residents.

To keep our residents safe we have a secure entrance at the front of the building. During busy periods it may take longer for staff to answer. We do appreciate this is not ideal.

Mum deteriorated rapidly and entered Claremont at short notice.
It has been a great comfort to the family that mum is cared for by such wonderful staff. Her care needs are fully met and she is treated very much as an individual.
It's great to see her stable and she now laughs again.

Job Title: Home Manager

“For me, kind care is always being respectful and ensuring that Residents maintain their dignity throughout their care journey.”


As a Registered Nurse, Catherine has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Catherine closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Claremont.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Catherine remarked:


“There’s nothing more rewarding than making a difference to the lives of Residents and their loved ones.”


Outside of work, Catherine likes to wind down with a good book, she also enjoys cycling and spending with her three beautiful grandchildren.
