From the minute l entered the care home l felt welcome as a visitor. The staff were friendly. I felt the signing in was secure which gave a feeling of safety. My friend seemed cared for and comfortable. I liked how her glasses were clean, her nails and her hair looked lovely. Her wellbeing seemed positive.

Her room was clean and looked like home with her belongings. Lovely atmosphere. Thank you for the coffee and cake. Most importantly for caring for my friend :)

My Mum moved to Fordmill Nursing Home in June 2026. We cannot thank the staff enough for their care, kindness, consistently excellent communication & approachability. There is such a homely feel, with spaces creating a sense of comfort whilst enabling dignity. There are always plenty of care and domestic staff on duty and a number of nurses who in a very short time all really know our Mum and her care needs. Having moved from another home we can see a stark contrast with a wide range of factors. The standard of care at Fordmill is excellent. Care is taken to support my Mums individuality and in a short time have healed wounds and helped her to gain weight that that had been lost. Touches like wearing her jewellery, also bring a real sense of considered care. There is an extensive programme of activities and opportunities for interaction which meet needs on all levels, my Mum mostly observing and listening now. I honestly feel this is bringing joy to my Mums life. Thank you to you all!

The residents were invited to a Mad Hatters Tea Party. The room was beautifully decorated with themed bunting, some made at the regular art class. The tables were set with themed tablecloths, napkins etc and beautiful bone china cup and saucers. Staff members were dressed as characters from the story to the amusement of the residents! Some family members were present and we joined our loved ones for a themed quiz. The catering staff provided a delicious strawberries and cream cake along with a cup of tea. As always the staff provided a caring and supportive environment with the afternoon thoroughly enjoyed by all.

My mum recently stayed at Ford Mill nursing home, for respite while I visited my daughter in Australia. We had the most incredible and positive experience and I could not speak highly enough about Ford mill nursing home. My mum said they went over and above on every level and had a really wonderful time staying there. The whole process right from the assessment by the manager Aileen, and being orientated by lovely Moira to the care home to all the staff that were involved in Mum's care, it could not have been better. It gave me huge peace of mind to be able to leave her knowing that she was being so well looked after. It has very high standards, with gorgeous rooms sitting rooms, the ambience is just wonderful. The care & attention that my mum received was 2nd to none and she loved all the activities that were planned. The whole team could not have done more to look after my mum and make her stay. I really comfortable safe one. I strongly recommend this care home highly enough

Mum was in Fordmill for 10 months. She was so well cared for, staff are amazing, so caring and loving. Mum was vegan and kitchen staff went out of their way for her. The residents are lovely and I am continuing to visit them. Thank you so much. Mum was in the best place in Angus.

My stay at Fordmill was perfect in every way. The attention to detail was incredible in every way and all my needs were met and more. The staff all went the extra mile. My room was very comfortable and clean and I was so impressed with all the activities that were organised. It was such a well organised, well managed home and I felt safe and very happy to have my Respite there.

Gold standard facility ! Looks more like a cosy local hotel than a care facility but has a very " homely " feel, mostly due to the personal attentiveness and friendliness of all staff from the manager down ! Family
And friends are made to feel
Welcome at all times , standards of cleanliness and service are impeccable , the food is wholesome and plentiful , and the nursing care is thorough and tailored to each resident . On top of this there is a lively entertainment programme each week and no one is left out other than by choice which is totally respected . A real nice touch is the private dining room where friends and family

can join their loved ones for a meal or an occasion and the service here is also second to none . Just can't say enough about every aspect of this home . My parents are looking as well and happy as they have been for a long time

Our Father went into Fordmill Montrose just before Christmas 2025 , from the start the staff were amazing , friendly approachable and so caring towards our Dad and ourselves , Aileen was extremely helpful, all the staff seem to genuinely care about the people they care for and the atmosphere is warm and friendly, Fordmill feels so homely the decor reminds me of a beautiful hotel , there could be no better place for a loved one to be cared for in their later years.

After being in another care home for a short period of time Mum had trepidation about being transferred to Fordmill in Montrose. From day one she loved it and all her worries, and ours, were alleviated by the kind, caring and welcoming staff and residents.
After isolating herself for many years, the staff coached her into participating in everything. During her nearly 4 years in Fordmill she enjoyed the activities and friendships she made. She particularly loved not having to cook and do the dishes!!

Fordmill and the staff were a blessing to all of us, knowing Mum was safe and taken care of, thank you all for the caring and dignified way you treat your residents and their families.

We wanted mum to come into this nursing home as it had an excellent reputation and we have not regretted it for a single second. The care our mum has received is second to none. All the staff, no matter at what level, are outstanding always smiling and cheerful. Nothing is too much trouble. Very attentive to our mums needs. Mum has really enjoyed the activities she has been able to attend and we have been impressed with what they have to offer, something for everyone. Mums highlight was the Scottish dancers, bringing back happy memories. The choice of meals and the wide variety of food to choose from is excellent. The peace of mind having 24/7 care given to our mum, by the caring management and staff, helps us tremendously

I can't praise the staff enough for the care they gave my husband and the family, over the last week of his life. They went above and beyond in my opinion. The staff in Fordmill Montrose are a fabulous team. Their profesionalism is second to none. I am truely thankful, my husband became a resident in this nursing home. Accept the thanks of all my family for everything they did to keep him comfortable at the end. That meant the world to us.

My cousin spent his final year in Fordmill, suffering from a terminal illness. He was so well cared for, that his life expectancy, initially 6 weeks, was extended by a year. He was very content, despite being bedridden, due to the excellant care and attention given by all staff members. He especially enjoyed the food, and we enjoyed the cakes with our cuppa on our visits. It gave us peace of mind that he was happy there.

About 14 years ago my mother passed away here after 2 or 3 happy years here, more recently my uncle passed away after approximately 18months as a resident, as a family we were able to spend more quality time with them both and not have to worry about their day to day stuff when they were at home, the care both were given was excellent. Also 2 of my elderly neighbours have lived here, one recently passed and my other neighbour is loving it, highly recommend,

Aileen AlbertsJob Title:Senior General ManagerJoined: 2015

Welcome to Fordmill Care Home; my name is Aileen, and I am the General Manager here.

I have previously worked in hospitals in Gloucester and Epping, specialising in neurology and breast cancer. Upon return from the Middle East in 1995, I commenced my career in the care sector. I moved back to Scotland in 2000 to purchase my own care home, which I managed with my mother. When my family came along, I decided to sell the home and came to work part-time at Fordmill in 2004.

My aim in the home is to ensure residents are happy with the care being provided by the team, and I work closely with the staff to ensure the highest standards are achieved. This is reflected in our Care Inspectorate grades and high recommendations on carehome.co.uk.
