Lovely people!
Thank you for your kind review, I'll pass your thanks on to the team.
My dad is staying in the Fordmill Care Home. The staff are professional and polite to both my dad and to visitors, putting everyone at ease. My dad is treated with respect and dignity, and the level of care he receives is excellent. Great areas for relaxing, dining, entertainment/activities, and areas for socialising. We attended the music band celebrations, the lady who hosted it was fantastic, we had a great afternoon, and we all enjoyed it! Took advantage of the lovely gardens and sat outside with Dad in the sunshine, as staff passed they stopped to chat, so friendly. Highly recommend this lovely care home.
Thank you for your kind review, I will pass this onto the staff.
Throughout our grans stay at Barchester Fordmill Care Home, she has received the utmost high standard of care. Staff have practised very well, always adapting a person-centred approach. Our gran resided in Fordmill for over three years. Throughout that time, she built some great relationships with the Fordmill staff team. Meals and visiting were always lovely with visitors being offered beverages. Thank you Fordmill.
Thank you for your kind review, Gemma, your gran was such a big part of the home and is sadly missed.
Lovely room.
Dad enjoyed his stay in Fordmill Care Home.
Thank you for your kind review. I hope Dad is settling into his new surroundings.
Mum enjoys participating in the various activities and socialising with her peers. The staff are kind, friendly and helpful. Mum likes the food and enjoys the company of the other residents in the dining room at mealtimes. The GP, hairdresser, dentist and chiropodist visit the home as required by the residents. Visitors are made to feel welcome. Mum is well cared for.
Thank you for your kind review, Shona, I'll pass this on to the staff.
When Mum became unwell, they were quick to treat her and involve the family and together do what was right for her.
During Mum’s end-of-life care, all the staff were exceptional. They were also very kind to our family, continually checking if we were doing ok and providing us with refreshments.
Thank you for your kind review, I'll pass this onto the staff.
My mum was in for 4 months and didn’t have any complaints.
The home was in good condition and the food looked as if it was of a good standard with plenty of activities.
Thank you for your kind review, I'll pass this on to the staff.
It is lovely to see my mother mixing with not only staff but other clients too. In areas for relaxing, dining, entertainment/activities and areas for socialising with her family as well as her own room which she can retire to at any time.
I’ve witnessed the staff reassuring my mother and the laughter together, which is lovely to see as it is a big step in the next chapter of her life.
Knowing that she is being looked after by such a caring team and I mean by all members of staff is heartwarming from her family's point of view.
Thank you.
Thank you for your kind review, Carol, I'll pass this on to the staff.
I have to say that during the time spent in Barchester Fordmill Care Home, my mother was very well looked after and cared for. All staff are very friendly and polite. All in all, my mother had an excellent experience in the four weeks of respite that she received.
Thank you for your kind review, Michael; I'll pass this on to the staff.
All Fordmill staff at all levels have been unfailingly professional, polite, courteous and helpful. My brother was always treated with respect and dignity, and the overall level of care he received was excellent. The only slight negative was that, in my opinion, my brother's room was somewhat tired and would benefit from a 'freshen up'. Overall, Fordmill Care Home is an excellent facility, and all staff should be complimented.
Thank you for your kind review; I'll pass your thanks on to the staff.
My father-in-law was in Fordmill for a week of respite care (for the first time at age 97) and he was very well cared for during his stay. The team were very welcoming and so helpful and friendly putting him at ease. Food was plentiful, good home-style cooking which he enjoyed. We were grateful that time was taken to find out more about his younger days/his likes/dislikes and his routine at home meaning as a family we could relax and recharge for a few days knowing he was in safe hands. The caring staff met all of his needs in a safe homely environment and treated with the dignity and respect that his generation deserves and for this we are truly grateful.
Thank you for your review. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding our home and team, who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. I will pass on your feedback to the team.
My sister was in Barchester Fordmill for two weeks for respite care while I was away. The rooms and general areas are spotless and her room was lovely and bright and comfortable. The staff were all very kind and caring, particularly the manager and the head of unit. My sister said the food was delicious and that she also particularly enjoyed sitting out in the gardens, which are beautiful. Thank you to everyone at Barchester Fordmill for making her stay so comfortable and for taking such good care of her.
Thank you for your kind feedback, I'll pass that onto the staff.
What can I say - from the minute we walked out of the lift to Mum's sad passing ten days later, we received nothing but pure kindness, care and compassion. An excellent team of fantastic staff from domestics to managers and everyone in between. Giving us endless reassurance, fun and great banter, just what we all needed. I cannot thank them all enough.
Thank you for your kind review, Pauline; I'll pass this on to the staff.
Relatives are well looked after, and always kept clean and tidy. Laundry comes back to the correct person and rooms are kept clean and tidy too.
Lots of activities going on and staff interacting with residents. Food and drinks are always available. Well done all at Fordmill.
Thank you for your kind review. I'll pass this on to the staff.
Mum was admitted to Fordmill after falling during the night at home resulting in a shattered elbow at the age of almost 92 years old. She was admitted for respite care and found the staff, home environment, daily activities and management to be first-class. The quality of care during her stay made a difficult time much easier for me.

Mum was a resident for 16 months until sadly, she passed away. From day one, the care, attention and professionalism shown to Mum, myself and the rest of the family were second to none. From the manager and management team to the nurses, carers, housekeeping and catering staff, with a special mention to the activities coordinator who gave Mum a renewed lease of life in her last year and a half.
Thank you for your kind review, Ewan, I'll pass your thanks on to the staff.
My husband and I were greeted warmly and offered refreshments and personal time to acclimatise to new surroundings. All employees (domestic, catering and exceptional nursing staff-all grades) were respectful and caring of our needs including emotional support. The manager and all staff are a credit to the establishment. During my husband's stay, he received exceptional care, respect and dignity and was comfortable with the care he received. Great concern was shown to me and my son. A simple thank you to all at Fordmill isn't enough.
Thank you for your kind review Carol, I'll pass your thanks on to all the staff.
Unfortunately, my mother was only in Fordmill for 17 days prior to her passing. I am unable to comment further on the home due to the circumstances we found ourselves in. I'm sure my mother would have enjoyed the activities that were on offer. During the time we did have at the home, the staff not only looked after mum so well but us her family. They showed great respect and dignity to my mother during her end of life care.
Condolences to you and the family at this difficult time. Thank you for your review. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding our home and team, who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. I will pass on your feedback to the team.
It is such a joy to see one of your loved ones being cared for by every member of staff. Nothing is to much trouble and the staff go out of their way to help with all my granny's needs. Couldn't be happier and would highly recommend.

The initial introduction to Barchester Fordmill Care Home was for respite care which then moved to permanent placement. The staff at all levels have provided my mother with the compassionate care that is so important to her family at this difficult time.
Thank you for your kind review, Yvonne, and I will pass this on to the staff.

Meet the Team (11)

Welcome to Fordmill Care Home; my name is Aileen, and I am the General Manager here.
I have previously worked in hospitals in Gloucester and Epping, specialising in neurology and breast cancer. Upon return from the Middle East in 1995, I commenced my career in the care sector. I moved back to Scotland in 2000 to purchase my own care home, which I managed with my mother. When my family came along, I decided to sell the home and came to work part-time at Fordmill in 2004.
My aim in the home is to ensure residents are happy with the care being provided by the team, and I work closely with the staff to ensure the highest standards are achieved. This is reflected in our Care Inspectorate grades and high recommendations on carehome.co.uk.

I’m Julia and I have been working at Fordmill since December 2016. I really enjoy art and studied Graphic Design & Illustration in Dundee. I love being with people and using my skills to improve their quality of life and bring a smile to their faces through crafts, games and all sorts of other activities.
I plan out the activities, either for groups or individuals, according to specific needs and interests. It’s a real joy to get to know residents and their loved ones and I’m grateful to Barchester for giving me the opportunity to work with them and bring some sunshine into the residents’ lives.
I have been a finalist in the National Care Awards once and twice in the Barchester Care Awards
