Management and staff are all well-motivated and professional and caring in dealing with mum and dad. They were particularly good at communicating when necessary.
Mum was admitted to Fordmill Care Home in September 2022 initially for respite care, and transferred to a permanent resident two weeks later. Everything was sorted out by the Fordmill management team taking a considerable worry away from myself and the wider family. Knowing mum was going to be well cared for in a well-run nursing home that she liked was a great comfort to myself and my family. The staff are exceptional and whilst you would like to specifically mention those who have directly interacted with the family it would be unfair, as all staff encountered were in my mind exceptional, making the home welcoming, friendly and demonstrating an eagerness to provide a first-class level of care. I cannot praise the management, care team and support staff enough. Even visits in the early hours of the morning were greeted with a smile and an offer of tea or coffee.
Thank you for your kind review. I'll pass your thanks on to all the staff.
The manager, nursing team, care workers, and domestic and catering staff are a fantastic advert for Fordmill Care Home.
Their care and compassion extend to families as well as those in their care and we have really appreciated the concern shown for us throughout her stay, particularly in her last days and since, even approaching us in the street in their own time to ask how we were doing after her passing.
They are all a credit to the care profession.
Thank you for your kind review. I will pass this onto the staff.
Our friend was in Fordmill Care Home for five months and passed away while residing there. He was young, so found the food was very bland and uninteresting. The care he received was good and the manager was fabulous with him. Trying to accommodate his food choices. For the money, we thought the rooms were basic with no private shower facilities.
Thank you for your review. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding our home and team, who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. I will pass on your feedback to the team.
My wife was a resident of Frodmill for three years. I can honestly say that the care and attention she received from all the staff was excellent. They were also so nice to me.
Thank you for your kind review. Please pop back to see us.
My father spent nearly six months in Fordmill Care Home. He was well looked after. If there were any concerns about Dad, they would phone straight away. The staff were very caring and helpful. My father was 97. He was well fed and given first-class care.

I wish to convey my gratitude for the excellent care and attention provided by all staff at Barchester Care Home. Matrons are looking after the care needs of my mother. Their hard work, commitment, dedication and professionalism in providing services, care and support, will always be appreciated. Fordmill was always kept in immaculate condition, food excellent and activities provided of a very high standard. Thank you again, and I highly recommend.
Whilst I am saddened at the loss of my mother I take great comfort in the knowledge that not only did my mother receive the highest standards of care during her stay, but she was also very happy there.
My mother fully immersed herself in all the activities and day trips, and whilst the various lockdowns were a terrible time for the residents, the staff went well beyond what was expected of them with their care, ensuring their physical and mental well being of the residents was maintained. The home employed a variety of means to ensure families were kept up to date with developments.
Individually or as a team, all the staff are worthy of mention. The various departments come together to create a synergy and positive flow that radiates throughout the care home.
A truly dedicated, compassionate team who delivers genuine care for their residents.
I commend Fordmill and its magnificent team to all.
Thank you for that lovely review. We are all missing your mums storiers and poem recitals.
Mum was very well cared for over the six and a half years she was a resident. The management was excellent and the staff very obliging.

I found the staff and facilities at the home very supportive and the care dignified at the latter stage of my mother's life. Also, the activities and food were very much enjoyed by my late mother. Both management and staff were careing and kind at the time mum was there.
Thank you for your kind review. I will pass this on to the staff.
The professional and caring approach we have experienced as a family is outstanding from all staff members. Due to geographical distances between our family and the care home, ensuring health and happiness, safety, healthy and proactive support is of primary concern. This is received in abundance at Ford Mill so we need not worry knowing our relative is happy both mentally and physically.
Thank you for your kind response I will ensure staff get this feedback.
All the staff at Fordmill facility are very professional and extremely helpful. Mother-in-law is very happy and content at the facility. Lots of interactive activities which she enjoys very much. The rooms are very clean and organised. Very safe place.
Thank you for your kind review I will pass this on to the staff.
Very professional. I am made to feel really welcome when I visit. My partner is looked after in a very caring way. I am always kept informed about my partner's needs etc.
Thank you very much for your kind review, I will share this with the staff.
I would strongly recommend this care home to everyone.
Thank you for your kind review. I will pass this feedback onto the team.
My friend went into Fordmill, was looked after very well. When anything was going on, they always called and informed you, which I found very helpful. Always clean and tidy, and everyone always looked well looked after and happy.
Thank you for your kind review A R. I will pass this onto the staff.
My husband goes into Fordmill for respite and the standard of care is excellent - no complaints.
Thank you for your kind review. Looking forward to seeing your husband back soon for a holiday.
I have for the second time in 2 years, had a parent (although this time an 'in-law') die after a short illness, in Fordmill. Both were admitted at a relatively end stage of illness - for care nearing end of life. The care was again excellent. Our family felt confident that she was getting care with dignity and compassion 24 hours a day. From the expert management to nursing, care team, laundry team, cleaning and catering - all were excellent. In the short time, we visited daily for end of life, we did not feel excluded from her care in this difficult COVID time. Thank you Fordmill! (PS. I am a retired RGN).
Thank you for your kind review, Anne. I will pass your thanks onto the rest of the team
Dad had been settled in Fordmill for some time and received excellent care, love and understanding during his battle with Alzheimer's, the staff were so patient and made sure his needs were always met. Sadly when the end came that same level of care and love were very present, in these COVID times we obviously could not visit as often as we would have liked but our hearts were overflowing to see and know the depth of compassion, care and love that Dad was receiving. Staff on their knees by his bedside singing to him, just the best! Forever grateful.

Has been difficult since Covid reared its ugly head, but the home has gone above and beyond to keep the residents safe and ensure that loved ones were able to keep in touch via Zoom and phone calls. We could not have expected any more from each and every member of the team and are completely appreciative of all aspects of care received.

Meet the Team (11)

Welcome to Fordmill Care Home; my name is Aileen, and I am the General Manager here.
I have previously worked in hospitals in Gloucester and Epping, specialising in neurology and breast cancer. Upon return from the Middle East in 1995, I commenced my career in the care sector. I moved back to Scotland in 2000 to purchase my own care home, which I managed with my mother. When my family came along, I decided to sell the home and came to work part-time at Fordmill in 2004.
My aim in the home is to ensure residents are happy with the care being provided by the team, and I work closely with the staff to ensure the highest standards are achieved. This is reflected in our Care Inspectorate grades and high recommendations on carehome.co.uk.

I’m Julia and I have been working at Fordmill since December 2016. I really enjoy art and studied Graphic Design & Illustration in Dundee. I love being with people and using my skills to improve their quality of life and bring a smile to their faces through crafts, games and all sorts of other activities.
I plan out the activities, either for groups or individuals, according to specific needs and interests. It’s a real joy to get to know residents and their loved ones and I’m grateful to Barchester for giving me the opportunity to work with them and bring some sunshine into the residents’ lives.
I have been a finalist in the National Care Awards once and twice in the Barchester Care Awards
