From what I have seen and experienced the home is well maintained and very well managed. The nurses and carers are efficient and respectful whilst being friendly. During her last days, my mother was treated with dignity and compassion. The staff were all courteous and friendly during this most difficult time of the Covid19 lockdown. They gave me time and listened to my questions, nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you for your kind review. Please come back and see us when you are next in Scotland.
The service provided by all staff was superb. Care and attention to detail second to none. My Nanny was a resident for a long time and we had a number of staff change, but the service with a smile never changed. The sense of humour and rapport that Nanny had with the team made me laugh. Always ready to offer a cuppy and cake (ML home makes were amazing). Thank you, everyone.
Thank you for your kind review Mark. Please come back and visit us in the future.
Mum has with Fordmill for a number of years now and has always been extremely well looked after. In fact, she has now passed her 97th birthday (July) and I am sure this would not have been possible if it hadn't been for the superb care the staff at Fordmill provide to her. During the COVID issue, the staff have been especially wonderful and have supported both mum and me and made virtual contact an easy process, so that I can see how well she is. Thank you all, especially, the manager - an angel !!
Thank you for your kind review, Maggie, I will be sure to pass this onto my team.
Although Mum and Dad have been settled very happily in Fordmill for some time now, this review is directly related to the past few months during the recent COVID crisis. Absolutely everything has been maintained to a very high standard to ensure the safety of the residents. The staff has worked so hard. Their dedication never failing to support residents in all their needs. Safety, cleanliness, approachability, but most of all care and love. As a family knowing they are well looked after means the world to us. Fordmill is home from home. A lovely friendly, caring place in which I would recommend highly.
Thank you for your kind review and continued support, Mandy.
My parents are extremely well looked after in Fordmill Care Home Montrose. The management and staff are approachable and helpful. The staff have done a fantastic job over the months of lockdown and we are extremely happy to be getting outside visits now. I would recommend Fordmill to any family looking for residency.
Thank you very much for your kind review. I'm glad the family is enjoying their garden visits with Mum and Dad.
I cannot express how grateful we are on how the whole care team to care for my brother. We got to speak to him on the phone which was wonderful in these particularly difficult times. Cannot fault their dedication to the people they are for. Best we could have wished for.
All the staff at Fordmill were amazing! The manager, nurses and carers were really kind, considerate, helpful and supportive during an extremely difficult situation. The passing of my Dad after fighting motor neuron disease. Thank you all!
On behalf of Barchester please accept our sincere condolences to you and the family at this difficult time. Thank you for taking to the time to review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding our home and team...
Fordmill is an excellent example of a friendly, well run care home. My mother has been very well looked after and enjoys the company of old friends and staff alike.
I could not have asked for a better home for my partner to spend the last 5 months of his life. He was treated with dignity and respect at all times and for that, I thank all staff from the bottom of my heart.
Whenever I visited my mother she was well cared for. She was always beautifully dressed in clothes she would have chosen herself if her sight had been better. As I live overseas staff were always helpful when I phones, making sure my mother could hear and the general manager kept me appraised of her health by email. I have to thank the staff who tried to make my mother's last year more comfortable, a difficult job as her dementia changed her.
I find this care home to be one of the best. It's clean and all staff give excellent care.
Thanks for your kind feedback.
Our dad was at Fordmill for just a few short days before he passed away but, in those few days, we saw a level of care, kindness and compassion at every turn that was both remarkable and a real comfort to us all, particularly as we really struggled in that final period of his decline. The humanity and tenderness displayed by every member of staff to someone they had so little time to get to know and who could do so little in his final days, speaks so highly of everyone at Fordmill. His room was simple, with a lovely view, and provided all that he needed and he never wanted for anything. But what makes all the real difference were his carers and nurses - these people are five star and we were never anything other than deeply impressed by the heart-warming affection that they universally displayed to both him and us. We cannot thank the team highly enough and are so pleased that he chose to go there to make his final days so comfortable. We can't thank the manager and her team enough.
Thank you very much for your kind review. I will pass this onto staff.
I realise it is a huge challenge but I only wish my parents could be more successfully engaged in stimulating activities.
On visits, I've always been impressed by the care and attention provided by staff, overall cleanliness and the comfortable and friendly environment. I am satisfied that my mother is being well looked after.
Thank you for your kind review.
Mum only had a short time at Fordmill as she was very poorly when she was admitted. However, all the staff, from the laundry girls to the manager were so kind and friendly and couldn't do enough to make my Mum and the family feel comfortable and cared for. Mum had a lovely room looking over the garden - I only wish she had been well enough to enjoy it. We can't thank the manager and her team enough for looking after Mum so well in her last few weeks.
Thank you for your kind review, Susan.
During mums time as a resident in Fordmill, she was treated with the utmost dignity and respect by every member of staff.
Thank you for your kind review.
The palliative care she received and the care we received ourselves at such a time was excellent.
Mum passed peacefully with dignity due to the nursing care.
Dad was admitted to Fordmill as an emergency on a temporary basis. From the time we arrived at the car park, the staff took over and during his time there, could not have done more to make Dad's stay any better. Dad was there approx 5 weeks when he passed away. The care and dedication the staff gave him made his last weeks comforting. Mum and I were with Dad when he passed and the staff looked after us well.
Thank you for your kind review.
I am reassured that my sister is in a safe environment and is looked after by a caring staff.
Thank you for your kind review.
My wife was a resident from June 2015 to February 2018. All staff were kind and friendly and very professional at all times. The home was clean and well maintained at all times. Meals excellent and varied. The atmosphere was homely and cheery. Also a mention for the beautifully maintained garden area. I will always be grateful for the care and support shown to us by all at Fordmill Care Home.
Thank you for your kind review Robert. You are always welcome to pop in for a coffee.

Meet the Team (11)

Welcome to Fordmill Care Home; my name is Aileen, and I am the General Manager here.
I have previously worked in hospitals in Gloucester and Epping, specialising in neurology and breast cancer. Upon return from the Middle East in 1995, I commenced my career in the care sector. I moved back to Scotland in 2000 to purchase my own care home, which I managed with my mother. When my family came along, I decided to sell the home and came to work part-time at Fordmill in 2004.
My aim in the home is to ensure residents are happy with the care being provided by the team, and I work closely with the staff to ensure the highest standards are achieved. This is reflected in our Care Inspectorate grades and high recommendations on carehome.co.uk.

I’m Julia and I have been working at Fordmill since December 2016. I really enjoy art and studied Graphic Design & Illustration in Dundee. I love being with people and using my skills to improve their quality of life and bring a smile to their faces through crafts, games and all sorts of other activities.
I plan out the activities, either for groups or individuals, according to specific needs and interests. It’s a real joy to get to know residents and their loved ones and I’m grateful to Barchester for giving me the opportunity to work with them and bring some sunshine into the residents’ lives.
I have been a finalist in the National Care Awards once and twice in the Barchester Care Awards
