Have always found that the care is given without any problems. The lady I visit is not always easy to care for as her mind/memory is very limited. Very frustrating for her and all that have to deal with her. She loves her food and thinks that her meals are excellent. I always find the staff very friendly and helpful.
Thank you for you kind review.
Very friendly place. My mum has really settled in. The staff are really good. They listen when you ask them questions and are there to help at any time. I admire the hob that they all do at the home. Everyone plays a huge part in making my mum happy and making her feel as if she is at her own home. Excellent!
Thank you for your kind review Shirley.
My Mum went into Fordmill for respite initially due to her dementia, as my Dad was hospitalised and not able to care for her. They both became permanent residents four years ago. Unfortunately, Dad passed away and Mum has remained in the care of the excellent care staff who show dignity and respect at all times. I cannot thank them enough for the care they provide.
Thank you for your kind review.
Staff welcoming and friendly.
Rooms lovely and well maintained.
Common areas lovely and well maintained.
Activities are varied and plentiful.
Information readily available.
Thank you for your kind review.
I am very happy with my uncle's level of care. I can see he is treated with dignity. His room is always clean and tidy as is he and all the staff are very friendly.
Thank you for your kind review Elizabeth.
There were many and varied daily activities which the residents enjoyed.
Overall the home had a lovely atmosphere and I would definitely recommend it.
Thank you for your kind review.
Both Dad and I are very impressed with the level and standard of staffing - help always available when needed. Also, the laundry service is excellent.
Thank you for your kind review, Scott.
I am very pleased the way my husband is treated and looked after.
Thank you for your kind review Margaret
I find the home clean, the staff efficient and cheerful and caring. I notice, however, that at certain times of the day the staff are under pressure particularly in the run up to and immediately after mealtimes. Thus patients can be left in corridors for extended periods before being returned to their rooms. However, in general, the level of care appears to be of a high standard.
Thank you for your kind review.
My brother's nursing care has been exemplary as was transferred from the hospital with some sore skin lesions which have now improved greatly. He is much more comfortable and clean and staff turn him and attend regularly.
Thank you for your kind review, Margaret.
My mother was a resident at Fordmill Nursing Home from November 2017 until she died on February 9th, 2018. During that time she was well cared for, treated like a valued person, and the family were always made very welcome on our daily visits and made to feel very relaxed and at home. During her last few days, the care and attention she received were absolutely excellent, she was looked after with love and respect, right up to the moment of death, and the family were also treated with care and sympathy. I have been very impressed with all staff from management to nurses, carers, domestic staff, cleaners, laundry and maintenance.
Thank you for your kind review, Avila, please feel free to pop in again for a coffee.
My wife, suffering from dementia and Alzheimers with much-reduced sight, was admitted for nursing care on 6th Nov '17 and passed away on 9th Feb '18. Though I have some reservations about the national company's financial conditions, I have none about the overall care my wife received in the final months of her life. It was attentive, warm, humane care for her and for us on our daily visits. The palliative stage in the last days was handled most impressively and helpfully. Any reservations I have will be discussed, up front, with the excellent manager and her senior nursing staff.
Thank you for your kind review, Denis, please feel free to pop in for a coffee soon.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The home itself has a positive and upbeat atmosphere. Care provided to our mum has been first class.
Thank you for your kind review, David.
Admins staff have been very helpful in explaining any queries and have had I am very impressed with the varied amount of activities carried out at the home.
I know how difficult it is to please some people, catering staff go out go their way to encourage and please residents who may be a bit fussy.
Overall I would certainly recommend Fordmill for good nursing care and cleanliness.
Thank you for your kind review.
They all seem to be quite happy.
Thank you for your kind review.
She did, however, contract a bad chest infection on 2nd Jan 18 and deteriorated very quickly. I cannot express highly enough the high standard of "end of life" care the staff gave her and treated her with dignity and respect.
Thank you for your review, Susan. Following a meeting with the Head Chef regarding your aunts likes and dislikes, I know she was happier with the choices on the menu.
Fairly new resident but happy so far.
Staff are very good and my sister is well tended to. We have no complaints.
Friendly and helpful and present themselves in a professional manner.
The staff are friendly and approachable meals are five star.

Meet the Team (11)

Welcome to Fordmill Care Home; my name is Aileen, and I am the General Manager here.
I have previously worked in hospitals in Gloucester and Epping, specialising in neurology and breast cancer. Upon return from the Middle East in 1995, I commenced my career in the care sector. I moved back to Scotland in 2000 to purchase my own care home, which I managed with my mother. When my family came along, I decided to sell the home and came to work part-time at Fordmill in 2004.
My aim in the home is to ensure residents are happy with the care being provided by the team, and I work closely with the staff to ensure the highest standards are achieved. This is reflected in our Care Inspectorate grades and high recommendations on carehome.co.uk.

I’m Julia and I have been working at Fordmill since December 2016. I really enjoy art and studied Graphic Design & Illustration in Dundee. I love being with people and using my skills to improve their quality of life and bring a smile to their faces through crafts, games and all sorts of other activities.
I plan out the activities, either for groups or individuals, according to specific needs and interests. It’s a real joy to get to know residents and their loved ones and I’m grateful to Barchester for giving me the opportunity to work with them and bring some sunshine into the residents’ lives.
I have been a finalist in the National Care Awards once and twice in the Barchester Care Awards
