My friend went into care last year, from her initial assessment I have been more than happy with the level of care and consideration that was given to her. She was treated like a family member in the home, which is down to the management and staff. My friend does not have any immediate family but the home enables me, as her extended family, to help her to the best of our ability. Thank you to all at Fordmill.
Thank you, for your kind review.
My father came into Fordmill 3 weeks ago and sadly is now in the final stages of palliative care. We are really pleased with the standard of care provided at this difficult time. The staff have been brilliant - they have treated Dad and the family with warmth, dignity and the utmost professionalism. What has impressed me most about Fordmill is the sense of 'teamwork' among the staff.
Many of the staff are long timers. This is a difficult and stressful job and they do it with passion and professionalism - nothing has been too much trouble. Dad's last days will be very comfortable thanks to the efforts of the team at Fordmill.
What we observed in terms of activities, meals etc for other residents was also of a very high standard.
Thank you so much and well done to all the Fordmill team.
Thank you for your review.
The care and respect the nurses, carers and manager showed towards my father-in-law in his last weeks was excellent and made his passing so much easier on the family. I cannot thank them enough.
The home is lovely, clean and homely. Staff are fantastic and go above and beyond to make us feel welcome and most importantly, that all my gran's care/needs are met. Plenty of activities and food menus look appetising. By far one of the best care homes I have seen.
The manager and all the staff involved with my granny have been very friendly, helpful and are all very approachable. My granny states she really likes living here and gets on great with all staff, enjoys the food and the activities offered, although does not attend them all she is grateful to be offered.
I am so happy that we chose this home for my granny and can not fault anything with it or with staff.
This is mainly due to the friendly, helpful staff who are very attentive. The staff keep me informed of any changes to my dad's presentation.
He always appears clean, tidy and well presented whatever time of day I visit, the care he receives to a very high standard.
My dad is now limited in his ability to communicate and I am very impressed with the full scheduled programme of activities on offer to keep him stimulated. This programme is left in his room so relatives can plan visits around this.
The care home is extremely well run, organised, clean and comfortable, with a mainly relaxed atmosphere.
My friend has been a resident since October 2016. Initially, I was very sceptical as one had such horrendous reports, but I have nothing to complain about. They keep me informed of any problems healthwise. She has now deteriorated considerably but I always find her clean, fresh and what appears to be very comfortable. The home itself is clean, warm (with no smells) and staff are always very approachable and friendly
As I live nearby, I am able to visit almost every day. My father retains his cognitive abilities and so we share meaningful conversations. The atmosphere in Fordmill is excellent. He has been a resident for almost four years and always calls it "home".
From the bottom of staff to the top, I am reassured and can leave happy that he is getting well looked after.
My mother was assessed and quickly moved to Fordmill. The fact that she settled so quickly is evidence of how skilled the staff were in assessing her needs and responding to her personality.
She is now limited in her ability to communicate but the staff have noted her enjoyment of music and response to others.A new sheet of weekly activities is attractively presented and refreshments are available to all visitors which adds to the welcoming atmosphere in the home. The hairdresser made a real effort to style my mother's hair in a way which suited her and involved me in this - much appreciated. The whole family is delighted with the home - many thanks.
Meeting went very well, and was so pleased with the response given to any questions I asked. They were very helpful and reassuring and I find staff very approachable.
Visit regularly and always enjoy my visit. Staff are friendly and helpful. I know this is the right place for my Mother in Law to be. She is being looked after well and has more company than if she was home alone. There is a good variety of food available and she loves it!
My mother has been in Fordmill for over 8 years. This last month has been particularly difficult. She has no circulation in her right leg and it is bandaged all the time. The staff have managed to maintain the rest of her body from bed sores by good management, turning and use of a special mattress. Her pain is being managed with morphine patches and I am kept up to date at all times. Food and drink are offered throughout the day and although I know my mother would not like to be like this she is very well cared for.
Very pleased with care and support for my father. Fed well, always looks clean and is happy.
I have found this care home to be run with very high standards in every department from the cleaners up toy he matron. Residents are treated with utmost respect by a very good team. Residents also have a super range of good food and are kept occupied with exercises and many other other activities.
My opinion of Ford Mill is treatment for my friend has always been excellent at all time. I am her main friend and visit her on every occasion at least 5 days a week. I am always very satisfied.
The service is brilliant, staff so friendly. My sister has dementia and I am so happy with the care she receives. No words can say how kind and caring they are.

Fordmill has provided exemplary care for my mother and in previous years, my father and also my daughter. All the staff are kind, caring and supportive.
They have regular showers, a choice of menus at meal times and clean comfortable rooms. I am always consulted if there is any issue about their health. I find the staff very approachable and willing to help.

Meet the Team (11)

Welcome to Fordmill Care Home; my name is Aileen, and I am the General Manager here.
I have previously worked in hospitals in Gloucester and Epping, specialising in neurology and breast cancer. Upon return from the Middle East in 1995, I commenced my career in the care sector. I moved back to Scotland in 2000 to purchase my own care home, which I managed with my mother. When my family came along, I decided to sell the home and came to work part-time at Fordmill in 2004.
My aim in the home is to ensure residents are happy with the care being provided by the team, and I work closely with the staff to ensure the highest standards are achieved. This is reflected in our Care Inspectorate grades and high recommendations on carehome.co.uk.

I’m Julia and I have been working at Fordmill since December 2016. I really enjoy art and studied Graphic Design & Illustration in Dundee. I love being with people and using my skills to improve their quality of life and bring a smile to their faces through crafts, games and all sorts of other activities.
I plan out the activities, either for groups or individuals, according to specific needs and interests. It’s a real joy to get to know residents and their loved ones and I’m grateful to Barchester for giving me the opportunity to work with them and bring some sunshine into the residents’ lives.
I have been a finalist in the National Care Awards once and twice in the Barchester Care Awards
