Greenacres in Meltham is located in the heart of Summer Wine Country, where it provides both residential and dementia care packages.

Run by highly-qualified and experienced carers, care is personalised to the needs of each individual. All of Greenacres rooms are en-suite and come with telephone point, internet access and mini fridge as standard. Each room is also equipped with a flat screen television, digital TV channels and personal DVD player.

Entertainment and activity programmes catering for a range of hobbies and interests, including a light social programme, are available for residents to participate in. With its own hairdressing salon, delicious home cooked food specially developed for us by a nutritionist.

A choice of TV or quiet lounges, a family room for personal gatherings and landscaped gardens, are all available for use during family visits. Greenacres provides a great place to live and visit.

My aunt visited several times before making her decision to move to Greenacres. The staff were welcoming and friendly. What really came across was their willingness to make her feel at home and at ease. From the first visit through to her assessment and finally the small touches like the 'welcome to your new home' card helped her move. All the facilities, activities and resident's involvement are carefully thought through. The building and furnishings are well looked after and all have a pride in their work.

Visited Greenacres with a view to locating a permanent room for my 91-year-old mother who has mobility problems and dementia.
We were shown around by F.O.H manager and were very impressed with the facilities on offer. WE were particularly impressed with all the staff who seemed very happy and has a good professional approach. Mum is now settling in and I feel sure that she will be very happy.

My mother receives very good care at Greenacres. She has severe memory impairment, dementia, but retains the majority of her personality. She is unable herself to tell me about her care. However, it is clear that all the staff care for and seem to like her. They have a good, cheerful and understanding relationship with her.
Greenacres are aware that I had earlier been concerned about a lack of activities but I believe recently there are more activities and a regular list of events. This I believe benefits my mother even though she does not directly recall them.
In summary, I am content that mum receives good care in a friendly atmosphere and that those around her also enjoy a good standard of care.
I recommend Greenacres to others with dementia issues and whose relatives or carers want to sure of a good standard of care.

Mother is in good, caring hands at Greenacres which is important as her health fluctuates and mobility decreases. Her room is personalised with her own furniture, pictures etc. Entertainment in-house is not to mother's taste so she writes letters, reads, listens to the radio and watches tv in her room, and staff have arranged transport and the company of a carer to enable her to go to a concert in the town which was much appreciated. She has a room on the ground floor which enables her to see people passing by, and trees which change with the seasons, which is important to her. The home is kept clean and is spacious and well maintained.

Cannot fault the food provided which is fresh and quite varied.
Concerns over the extreme lack of activity provision for all residents along with general interaction between staff and residents in order to keep their minds active.
I regularly have to look for glasses (one pair lost) and false teeth on my visit. My uncle is on the first floor but staff found his teeth in the office downstairs recently.
Sometimes he is not fully dressed on a morning i.e missing socks, underpants, two shirts on, someone else shoes on.
It is assuring though that he is kept warm and secure both within his comfortable room and lounge area. all staff seem to be quite caring though possibly preoccupied by office work duties at times.

My Mum received a very warm and friendly welcome on her arrival at Greenacres. She is happy and has settled in nicely, and is also very happy with her room and feels very comfortable and is already calling it 'home'.

Our relative has settled very quickly and seems very happy and contented.

It is not that easy to assess how happy my aunt is in terms of how she finds the home. Being nearly blind and hard of hearing and with other issues at times she can misunderstand what is going on around her. Maybe at times the home could do more to explain things to her with regard to what or why this has happened.
Her pet hate is having to wait for anything, she has always been used to doing what she wanted when she wanted which I know cannot happen all the time in her current environment.
She was very much into choral / classical music which is something which seems lacking in the home.
Her episode with another person does not go down very well at all and she finds it very intimidating.
Overall though I think Aunt M is happy enough in the home.

Mother has personalised her fairly spacious room with her pictures and a bookcase of books and ornaments, her own adjustable chair and bed with her own bedspread. She has a valued en-suite shower room, and her window looks out of the front of the property so she can observe passers by and the change of the seasons. She spends a lot of time on her own as the entertainments provided tend to be much of a muchness - singers of popular songs with a backing track. (Mother's taste is classical and literary.)
Visits to local farm shop and garden centre cafes are arranged but it is up to relatives to facilitate other experiences outside the home when a resident is well enough to enjoy them. There is an enclosed garden area which could be a delightful facility for those who cannot get out independently. Medical care is sought promptly by staff and the local GPs provide an excellent service. This was the only local care home out of 11 that I visited I would have moved into myself 2 years ago.

I would recommend Greenacres care home to anyone, the rooms are excellent and the staff are so kind and friendly to everyone, I am so glad I chose this home for my mum, the caretaker will do whatever he can to help.

I have always found the care given at Greenacres to be to a high standard. The staff are friendly, helpful, patient with the residents, and very professional. The place is clean, bright and airy. Bedrooms are well aired during the day. Meals appear to be healthy and appetising and care is taken to encourage residents to eat when they become difficult with eating.

The care my brother has received at Greenacres Care Home, Meltham has been excellent. The staff throughout, from management to catering staff have always shown compassion and understanding. The home itself is purpose built and the emphasis is put on 'openness and freedom' for its residents. The care staff are experienced and this is evident in their communications with resident's family and friends. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of any activities going on in different lounges and to socialise where possible.

My sister and I are very pleased with the care my mother receives. The carers are very considerate and encouraging, always cheerful and keep us well informed. Although there are a lot of resources for activities no one seems to have the time to encourage the residents to participate. My mother complains that she doesn't know what activities there are and is unable to comprehend the very complicated spreadsheet outlining the weekly activities. A daily board which the residents could easily see would be a bonus. My 'excellent' score for staff refers to the carers. Sometimes the front of house staff can be unwelcoming and offhand.

My mother has been in Greenacres for two years in a residential unit and then onto a E.M.I residential unit. All members of staff have given patience, understand and concern, showing always their full commitment towards the care, safety, comfort and well being my mother. The meals are excellent and she has the freedom of choice to eat with other residents in the dining area or else on her own in her room. Greenacres is light and spacious, clean and well maintained. I have never felt any anxiety for my mothers welfare in the home, I trust the care there completely. Any problems have always been readily respected and dealt with.

Staff good at telling me how my sister has been and if she needs anything and what she has been up to. I am a bit concerned that when I visit she is sometimes wearing clothes that don't belong to her.

Mum is well looked after and cared for. The staff keep me and the family well informed of any problems either by telling us when we visit or by telephone. The new manager never seems available when we would like to see her and the receptionist seems to fob us off and says I can help you with any problems. The staff in general, do an excellent job, but being refused to see the manager, I do not like. We were always able to see the previous manager.

As mums behaviour has become more challenging, her care has stepped up to cope with it. All relevant outside agencies have been contacted and recommendations put in place. Staff could not have been more caring and kept me informed. Mum responds best to known staff.

My husband has been in care at Greenacres since 2011. The food is very good and care he gets is very good when he lets them. Only thing I will say as a negative is not enough staff, they seem to have a lot leave and then new ones come and go. For the residents this is not good. If this can be addressed it would be better as then the residents would have more one to one care.

My sister and I are very happy with the care our mum gets at Greenacres, she has now been there for five and a half years suffering with dementia. All the staff are really friendly and we class them as friends as well as carers. Mum hasn't much quality of life but the staff try their best to keep her cheerful and seem to love her. The food is always good and there are always plenty of drinks available. Mum is always clean and her dignity kept as much as possible. We have no hesitation in recommending this home to people who have parents in the same position

After considerable research of care homes in the area we chose Greenacres for my husband who suffered from dementia. This was undoubtedly the best decision we could have made. The staff showed him such care, kindness, and affection. He was treated with total dignity and visiting relatives now count the staff there as friends. We would highly recommend Greenacres to anyone in a similar situation.

Excellent care, very helpful, during very difficult family situations. The staff and care home were there to help us when times felt that nobody else cared. Could not have done without the support care and friendliness of a fantastic team.

Following a rapid deterioration in my elderly fathers condition we were fortunate to obtain a residency for him at Greenacres.

The communal facilities and his room were modern, well decorated and to a satisfactory standard but the most important factor was the care and respect shown by the staff who showed a genuine interest in my father.

“I love working at Greenacres, we are all like a big family with our residents at the centre of everything we do”

Sarah has worked in care for over 18 years and has been at Greenacres for five. In her key role as Home Manager, she ensures that she is available to help lead the staff team to provide aspirational lifestyle choices for every single one of our residents. Sarah is on hand to answer any queries from our resident’s family and friends and will ensure that anyone coming to live with us can move in with as little disruption as possible. She constantly promotes independence for our residents, and works with the Front of House Manager to provide regular exciting activities both within the home and external trips.

Sarah has a certificate in Health and Social Care Management from Leeds Metropolitan University, and she is currently working towards her NVQ Level 5 in Management of Adult and Children’s Services. Sarah is extremely passionate about her role and finds that Greenacres is a huge part of her life – why not pop in and say hello to the Greenacres family next time you are passing?

Job Title: Front of House Manager

"I am a people person and love getting to know our residents and listening to their wonderful life stories."

Annalie joined Greenacres in April 2017 as Front of House Manager. She brings a wealth of administration and financial experience to the home, as well as a welcoming and friendly face for visitors and residents in the home.

Annalie lives in Meltham herself and loves to get Greenacres involved with as many community events as possible. In addition to this, she organises daily in house activities, and also regular trips out for our residents, after hosting monthly Social Committee Meetings to give everyone the chance to choose their favourite things to do!

Annalie is happy to answer any queries from residents, visitors and friends of Greenacres, and she likes nothing better than showing people round the beautiful home. She looks forward to welcoming old and new visitors to Greenacres and assisting the Home Manager and care staff to ensure our residents continue to have a happy, caring and safe environment in which to live.

Paul Fletcher

Job Title: Regional Director - North West

“I am passionate about creating great places to live by supporting our great team of care staff and ensuring our residents’ receive the best quality care in our homes.”

Paul has worked for the LNT Group for over 6 years. He first joined Ideal Carehomes in 2010 as a Home Manager, having previously managed the home when it was operated by Orchard Care Homes. Paul soon became a valued member of the team and managed two different Ideal Carehomes before being promoted to Area Manager in January 2012. Given his wealth of knowledge and experience as Area Manager, Paul was a prime candidate to become Regional Director in 2015. In this role, Paul takes a strategic lead in the oversight and development of our care homes.

Paul can frequently be found in the homes enjoying a cup of tea with residents and their families to better understand their needs whilst supporting the Home Manager to create aspirational lifestyle choices for our residents and overseeing all aspects of compliance. He gets a lot satisfaction knowing that the small changes he makes are supplementing the already excellent care being provided in the homes.

Paul has completed his NVQ Level 4 Leadership and Management in Care Services (equivalent to current NVQ Level 5) and Qualifications & Credit Framework Level 7 in Leadership and Development for Senior Management.
